TTrail16604369230I've just returned from a weekend in Debrecen (and my first trip to Hungary) and could not have been happier with my choice of hotel. Pre-arrival communication was excellent, eg they arranged a taxi for me from the airport at short notice, and from beginning to end of the stay I felt this Mercure genuinely cared about the guest experience. As a solo female traveller arriving at 2am in the morning, I felt welcome and immediately ”at home”. The decor is stylish, contemporary and comfortable, the rooms are spotlessly clean and well appointed (I appreciated the USB ports), and I was impressed with the buffet breakfast, which was generous (lunch not needed!) with plenty of healthy options, such as six different seeds for toppings, and almond milk and non-lactose milk as standard at the tea/coffee bar. At most hotels, I don't opt in to breakfast but here I enjoyed it so much I looked forward to it on my second morning too. Every member of staff was really friendly and helpful. The location is great - just a two-minute walk from the main square and Reformed Great Church, as well as many restaurants and the tram stop - and yet it feels like a relaxing oasis. There are great spaces around the hotel (inside and out) for working or wasting time over a coffee. And the Cure coffee shop that's part of the complex, but I think a separate business. also has excellent cakes and drinks. The only thing I would have liked is an iron in the room (it's a bother to have to go to reception and fetch one just to take a few creases from a shirt) but everything else was so good that this minor point doesn't come close to denting my ”five” rating.
GGuest UserWe spent 6 nights at this hotel - being a family of 4 we booked a family room - wich is 2 double rooms with a connecting door. The rooms were clean and spacious, each with a large bathroom with shower and a private balcony. Breakfast was basic but good, and the stuff made sure to replenish whenever needed. The main advantage of this hotel is its location - right in the historical center, all the city's sightseeings were at walking distance or a short car/tram ride. Another plus - we received a parking voucher for the whole stay and could park in the vicinity for free. Highly recommended!
GGuest UserMy favorite here is my amazing Drinks made by Zoltan. He can also make you a special drink, just tell him what you like, he can concoct it for you. Every drink this guy makes is excellent. The spa staffs and the pool area are friendly and helpful. It was so relaxing, my toddler love it there. Restaurant staffs are very nice from breakfast and dinner. They are friendly and considerate with our toddler. Front desk staffs are nice and helpful. Third will be the children's play area. The room was nice, cozy and clean. The location is close to the park, zoo, restaurants and etc.
