Chicago Hotels with Bars

Everything was nice at the hotel: our room was upgraded to a more spacious one with two beds, the location is second to none - right in the center of it all, it is very quiet, which is a big plus. The only thing that the hotel is dated… they really need to renovate bathrooms and buy new thicker towels. Replacing scratched furniture will also help their image. Our $25 per day food and drink credit was pretty handy for our late lunch. I had Cobb salad (no bacon) and my husband had delicious grilled chicken wrap with aioli sauce, greens and French fries. On another day we tried their desserts. I had mouthwatering cheesecake with berries and my husband had cinnamon cobbler with cherries and peaches. His desert was humongous, so he finished it in the morning for breakfast. I couldn’t resist and finished my cheesecake on the spot… Service is excellent - very welcoming and the bartender is absolutely fantastic. And I can’t think of a better location - right in the heart of beautiful Chicago Downtown. We will be back in April.

The location is great. The cleanliness of our room was fantastic. I asked for a luggage cart to be at the room at x and the front desk said I needed to call for the cart. Really? It took over 15 minutes for a bellhop to arrive at 6:45 in the morning. There is an additional $25 a day charge that is not disclosed at booking. The coffee costs more than Starbucks...? We bypassed getting our room cleaned for two days. On the 3rd it was never addressed. Staff said ... oops. It used to be THE hotel to stay at in Chicago. The last two nights teenagers were running around unsupervised and making noise until security was called. Probably not going back, so sad.

Checking in at the Congress Plaza was so straight forward. I was upgraded without asking to a King size bed with a lake view. The room was perfect. Fridge, safe, TV , Coffee and water.

We stayed for a night, upgraded to a lakefront room. Great location, great rooms. The only issue I had was the AC was not working that well. We didn’t even use the sheets or our blanket we got so hot. Also the bar is a little over expensive. Other then that great stay! I’d stay again but bring a fan and our own bottle next time :)

Nice place, easy to locate, and very close to various parking spaces. While the place is not very new, my main concern was how loud it was during the night. Train going by, neighborhood arguing, car driving, etc. It was difficult to catch a sleep.

I visited the Warwick Allerton with a group of friends over a three night stay. The hotel is older, in the midst of a remodel. Our room was fine, appeared to be remodeled. It was clean, comfortable bed and furniture. Housekeeping had to be scheduled and we ran out of toilet paper before the scheduled service. Additionally our wifi was continually disconnecting. Alicia from the front desk offered to come up to our room, reset our wifi and delivered 2 rolls of toilet paper. She arrived within minutes of me talking to her. She was friendly and very helpful. The hotel charges a $15.00 daily service fee. The restaurant was closed for remodeling and there was no food on the premises. There may have been a gym, which we did not use. I fail to see the benefits of the facility fee and would rather just have the room charge be higher if the hotel needs to make a higher profit on the rooms. The hotel is in a good location for shopping and restaurants. The valet service was also efficient.

Tori was awesome at the front desk. Room was clean and well stocked with everything we needed. Bar and restaurant in the lobby was also great! I would definitely stay here again! I really liked the safety of doors locking and elevator secured. Also it was very quiet, especially being on a main road

The location is great. The hotel room was okay. The bed was excellent. The bathroom was tiny and the shower was too cold for me. There is a building being located immediately next door and there was LOUD work going on at 6/7 am on a Saturday. So definitely not ideal. The bar was closed for some reason which made the small lobby incredibly cramped with guests and people checking in. There was someone working on his laptop in the bar area and it didn't make sense how the kept the masses cordoned off in a tiny area when there was a huge area to spread out and sit down.

The location is excellent . It is about a two minute walk from the north end of Michigan Avenue very close to the Hancock building/Water Tower. Staff were super friendly and helpful from the moment we came through the door. They assisted with parking as well as giving an extensive list of where to eat in the neighborhood. They also provided personal recommendations when we asked. Thanks Mark, Felicia and Alicia for your great service and charming personalities; you made the stay feel even more special. It is an older hotel that is not likely to appeal to those who want one with all the bells and whistles and an expansive fancy lobby associated with a modern, high-end hotel. Those aspects may be nice but they also come at a substantial price and do not guarantee great service. This hotel is an excellent value for the money. Our rooms were clean, spacious and the beds were comfortable. The views from the room were lovely so that was an extra bonus. There are refrigerators in the room and plug-in slots for electronic devices along the edge of the desk. Other reviewer‘s have not noticed these items and have complained that they did not exist. There was nothing that we needed that was not there. While we did not request any, I heard from another guest in the elevator that staff was very responsive on bringing them ice when they needed it. Hotel staff also take Covid safety seriously. This was a great stay in a beautiful city. I would not hesitate to return to the Whitehall.
