Where do I start..... We were going to book this hotel 12 months ago but decided not to due to the relatively isolated location ie nothing nearby as advised by the hotel after contacting them. Fast forward 12 months and as we had flights booked to Majorca decided to take the plunge having contacted the hotel again about the pool areas. My question to the hotel before we booked was 'are the pool areas in the sun'? The response from the hotel was 'we have 2 pool areas and in both of them you will have sun during the all day'. Based on this and as someone who likes to sunbathe, we booked! On arrival our room was not ready which wasn't a problem as we were able to use the Al whilst waiting. Once our room was ready we had a pool and sea view room which was fantastic and the room itself was spacious and clean. However, it became quite clear over the next few days that both pool areas only had sun at certain times during the day and only certain sunbeds had the sun. I would guess that out of the 2 pool areas only around 20% of the sunloungers were in the sun at any point during the day. This was extremely disappointing and whilst I appreciate this is due to the location of the hotel and its pool areas, why did the response from the hotel state that the pool areas had the sun on them all day!? Furthermore, if you want to have a drink or change of position or read at a table and chairs whilst still in the sun...forget it! However, if you use the upstairs bar between 2.30p.m. and 4.00p m. there are 2 tables where you can sit in the sun and have a drink for a short period of time!! The food, if I am honest, was pretty awful. I am not a fussy eater and will eat most things but we experienced cold food which should have been served warm at least, unlabelled food which for mv wife was unhelpful as she is unable to eat milk/cream, some waiting staff clearing around you whilst still eating (I was taking the last mouthful of my ice cream and the member of staff took my dish and spoon virtually out of my hand), uncooked and overcooked meat. The dining experience was the worst we have experienced at an Al hotel. The snack bar was okay for the first couple of days but it appeared that the hot food did not stay hot or even warm. Both eating experiences were extremely repetitive and disappointing for the reasons stated above and management really do need to sort out the overall food experience. We had to book an extra night due to one of us being ill and unable to travel home due to being sick and having diarrhoea for 24/36 hours Reception staff were quite unhelpful and as front of house you would expect a smile, not the feeling that you are an inconvenience. Bar Staff and Entertainment Team were exceptional, extremely friendlv and hard working - keep up the great work! Also a big shout out to the housekeeping staff -again exceptional! Eventually when we did check out, we trundled up to reception at around 7.30a.m. It was still dark and we were astounded
