Title: fantastic staff, comfortable stay
Reception:
Liz at reception was fantastic and Helen at breakfast was informative made great suggestions on where to visit historical sites.

Room number 19 is on the ground floor and is clean. The room consists of 2 single beds, desk, chair, iron and board, stand shower (no tub) in the bath room, desk and chair.
Self control air conditioning with a window that opens about 5 cm.
The room does not have a fridge.
Although we had to change rooms due to plumbing issues, our second room was very functional and comfortable.
Parking:
This is available at an additional £3.50 per night cost, car registration must be provided at check in. Whilst there are plenty of parking spaces, a car is required to get to the hotel, resulting in the spaces filling quickly.

Breakfast:
The buffet breakfast is from 6.30am to 9.30am and consists of cereals, yogurt, breads (to toast) jams and spreads, fresh fruits, pastries, eggs, bacon, baked beans, sausages & harsh browns, juices, tea /coffee. Staff are very attentive to remove plates and refill food items.
Nice touch having a staff member come around during breakfast offering sweet pastries.
Conclusion:
Centrally located “base”hotel for day trips to surrounding towns or Warwick town. Very nice staff, with a Mcdonalds outside your door step.
Letdowns:
No fridge, inconsistent room features.

We stayed in a premier plus room which was modern and comfortable, especially liked the shower. It was clean although lots of cobwebs had been missed. When we checked in we used the machine as no staff were around, but it was easy to use so we were fine with that. There are lots of mixed reviews on here about the parking, we stayed for 3 nights and it varied. If you parked before 7pm you easily got a space, but one evening we drove out for dinner and got back at 10pm, there was only 3 spaces left in the car park which soon got taken. £3 per night parking was a good price. The restaurant are still having supplier issues so they were running a very limited menu which was disappointing. We had 3 starters and 3 mains to choose from…they even ran out of ketchup! However, the female manager/supervisor who served us was lovely, and the food that we picked was tasty. Overall the stay was average due to lack of food at restaurant and the worry of if there will be a parking space available when you get back. However, the bed and room was comfortable and staff were always friendly and helpful.

The location of the hotel is very good at a golf course in the suburbs, very close to the highway but you have to drive. The only complaint is that the breakfast is really bad and everything else is pretty good

Very poor condition for 3 stars , I was surprised and disappointed to find the accommodation was not as I would expect for a 3 star hotel . On check in I rang the bell at the door and waited , and waited , no one came to the door , eventually a staff member came from the annexe across the courtyard and let me into reception with her key , only to find a gentleman sat at the reception desk , why he couldn't answer the bell and let me in I don't know , kept me waiting several minutes , unnecessarily. The room was on ground floor , in the annexe type building across from reception , with the window facing out onto the pavement and roadway of a busy street , the net curtains being ripped offered no privacy, so that I had to keep the curtains drawn at all times to maintain privacy . The carpet in the bedroom could only be described as ” grubby” , the bathroom smelled musty / mouldy , with black discoloured grouting in the shower , which looked like it needed a really good clean . The shower head holder , height adjuster , was broken, so that it languished at the bottom of the rail and was not able to be held at a suitable height , forcing me to have to crouch down , or hold the shower head with my hand in order to get my head and shoulders under it . The hand soap dispenser by the basin was either empty or broken, so that every time I used the bathroom I had to reach into the shower for shower gel to wash my hands with . On checkout I was unable to raise my complaints as no one attended reception, despite my ringing the bell , so I had to leave my room key in the early checkout box and walk away without the opportunity to speak with the staff . Cleaning staff nearby , chatting away in a foreign language , completely ignored me standing at reception. Very disappointed with the accommodation and the staff , would NOT recommend staying here at all .

We stayed on 11th July 2024 for 1 night in room 6 . We loved our room . Spacious , very clean and bed was so comfy . We ate in restaurant downstairs and I had galinhada a traditional Brazilian dish and it was delicious . My wife had steak which she said tasted fabulous . Highly recommend. We slept very well . Now there is one part of the review that’s very important to mention . The staff are amazing but one person in particular shone and that’s Innes . This wonderful lady is first class and knows exactly how to treat guests and diners . If anyone wants to see how they should treat guests , go watch Innes . A true credit to the kings head . We would definitely return and appreciate good service and kind staff . Thankyou x

I needed somewhere to stay overnight for a business trip, and this venue looked a decent place to stay. On arrival, the staff were welcoming, and the pub looked to be a nice venue. It was disappointing not to have parking, not a massive issue as there was a car park a short walk away. The stairwell leading from the pub to the accommodation, however, left a lot to be desired and left me fearing for what I had let myself in for. It was somewhat reminiscent of a cross-between a 1980s office block and RIgsby's accommodation. Thankfully, the room was an improvement with plenty of space, and the usual tea and coffee facilities. There were, however, some significant issues which would stop me from returning: When I tried to have a bath, I realised after running the water for long enough to fill, that it was almost empty. On checking, the plug sat proud, meaning water was emptying almost as fast as it was filling. The most concerning part was only discovered late in the evening. I had been out for the evening, returning around 11 pm. When I returned, I found the pub to be closed and my key would not fit the lock. Thankfully I could hear someone inside, who eventually heard me banging on the door and window. Heaven knows how I would have got in had I arrived back any later! If there was another way to get in, I wasn't informed when I checked in. I also didn't expect to have to be back by a curfew - I haven't had one of those since childhood! Shortly after I got back, another guest asked if I knew how to get back out again - I don't know if he managed it in the end.

The room was attractive (but smelt unpleasantly of cheese or similar when we arrived) with comfy beds and a nice view of the church. That's the good bit but unfortunately the rest made it too odd to enjoy. It was so strange - like staying in someone's house where they weren't expecting you and didn't want you there! The staff were completely disinterested and unfriendly from start to finish. Breakfast was strange - jars of cornflakes, crunchy nut cornflajes, muesli and croissants on one table with a plastic bottle of milk, plus some bread and a toaster on the bar - noone showed you where anything was, you!had to find where they had balanced bits of breakfast and the one member of staff sat with her back to us. We weren't offered tea or coffee but asked if there was any because we saw empty teapots on another table. Very awkward and uncomfortable. When we checked in, I asked what time checkout was and asked if I could extend it to 12pm. I was told it was 10am but could pay £20 to extend it, which I did. At 11.40am we returned to our room and a member of staff said 'what are you still doing here, check out was at 11am' so I said we had paid £20 to extend it to 12pm. We could not have been made to feel less welcome throughout. Very disappointing and absolutely not worth the money.

Very Good
GGuest UserStayed for a couple of days whilst we visited local historical sites. Room was excellent as was the pool and general facilities. Was surprised the bar evening menu is the same as the main restaurant - seems little point in not availing oneself of the restaurant since it is much nicer and costs nothing more! Many thanks to the bar staff (who sang happy birthday) and Rieann and Ionda in the restaurant for their friendly service.
GGuest UserThe room is clean and tidy, and the quality of the bedding is average and acceptable; the hotel only has shampoo and no conditioner, and the hair is not smooth when washed; the bed is very narrow, I forgot to measure it, it is estimated to be only 60cm wide; it is in the same parking lot courtyard There is a Waitrose supermarket, which is more expensive than TESCO; there are KFC and Burger King, but the prices are not cheap; the rooms are not as small as those in other British hotel chains, but there are few tables, racks, hooks, etc., and the boxes and cages can only be piled on the floor. There is no breakfast room, I don’t know how the breakfast is! The windows in our room did not close tightly and had cracks; the electric heater in the room was already working. After staying at Anne Hathaway's farmhouse, we stayed at Chatsworth House the next day (Chatsworth Manor is also the Darcy Manor where Pride and Prejudice was filmed)
GGuest UserGood budget hotel and you know what to expect. Motorway services aren’t usually the most attractive places for hotels, but it was handy to break up a journey to London.
GGuest UserWe had been meaning to stay here for quite some time as the hotel looked quite something and it’s in an area we love. The hotel itself is very nice. Nestled in delightful, picturesque grounds, gorgeous lake and roaming countryside it certainly lives up to its setting and billing. Check in was quick and hassle-free. The room was basic but clean and tidy with a small patio and car parking space right outside. The hotel, although quite large, very busy and popular with families and kids was surprisingly very quiet. We had a good nights sleep. We enjoyed the spa and swimming pool area. Again clean and quite modern. The pool is a little on the shallow side however if you fancy a proper swim. The restaurant/dining experience was however, sadly, an absolute disaster. It’s a big restaurant and in obviously letting in far too many diners at the same time, the waiting staff were clearly ill-equipped, ill-prepared and inexperienced to deal with demand. The waiting time for our food and drinks was atrocious. The food was average. The choice very limited. Our drinks were removed from our table twice and our desert simply failed to materialise. In fairness our complaints were handled immediately and very well by Sharon (restaurant manager) but there were far too many things that went wrong. Will we return? Yes to stay. No to eat.
We have stayed at this hotel on three occasions now (once with Shearings and twice independently. On arrival the receptionist was friendly and asked how our journey had been as weather was awful. We stayed in the modern block room 63 and were very happy with the room. The hotel is being refurbished and you can tell. The carpet fitters were there during our stay and the entrance to the block is clean and fresh. On arriving in the room we could only see one set of towels and we had a problem with our Tv but the receptionist came immediately to our room to help us. The second lot of towels were in the wardrobe. Our room was very clean and spacious. The only one thing more hangers would have been useful. We had evening meal in the restaurant. The food was very good. Myself and my husband had the ham hock terrine followed by blade of beef and myself had scampi. Food was hot and a good portion size. We both enjoyed our food. Staff were efficient and helpful. We had breakfast two mornings. It wasn’t buffet as we had had previously due to hotel being quiet but you could order hot food ie full English. There were fruit juices cereals yoghurt fruit continental meat and cheeses also alongside bread to make your own toast and pastries such as croissants and pain au chocolate. You get your own drinks from the two coffee machines which are easy to use. We had a drink in the bar both nights but the first night it was just us and another gentleman. It was slightly busier the next evening. The cleaner who serviced our room was also pleasant to us. We enjoyed our stay and would return. I know that some of the reviews on here are harsh but we had an enjoyable break. Mr and Mrs King
