Fairfield by Marriott Hotels in Bloomington

This hotel is pretty with its hip colors etc, and the food was good with easy access to airport and the big mall. But the rooms lack function including very few drawers, sink has very little counter space so not much space to place toiletries, strange blue carpet and sparkle tile in rooms on top floor, big silver closet doors (on top floor only possibly) that are about 2 inches above the floor which means when you close one it can slide right over your bare foot (which happened to me both cutting and severely bruising my foot). I reported the injury as soon as it happened. A gentleman came up and told me the doors are suppose to be like that. (Go look at your doors they all are much closer to the floor so this doesn't happen.) I left a note for them when I checked out after hobbling around for 2 days in pain and a week later still no reply or inquiry regarding that situation from anyone in management. I don't like to complain but maybe someone will read this review and care? Hotel shuttle was good at picking us up at the airport but not so good taking us back. We had a reservation for the return shuttle but they let other people on instead telling us airline crew had priority over us. Not sure about those other people who got on. We had to wait for shuttle to return since 2nd shuttle was having maintenance issues. We did like how your room key only allowed you to go to floor your room was on. That seemed safe. If you want maid service you have to request it.

My family and I spent 1 week here. The service was great. Breakfast was good! Shuttle is reliable!!! Great convenient place to stay! We enjoyed going to Outback restaurant which is connecting to the hotel. Delicious food is there! Nice customer service! Would stay again!

The room was clean and the staff we dealt with were very pleasant. However, the room felt slightly outdated and some items weren't working. After 10 minutes, the coffee pot had only put out a 1/3 of a cup of sludge and the light by toilet/tub would flicker for second & then go out, both of which I'm sure would have been taken care of had we requested. There was an obvious small section on the upper left side of the tv screen where you could only see a bright light, rather than the picture, as if the screen had pulled away. The paint in the bathroom appeared to be starting to pull away from the wall in places. Again, while clean, it is showing its age & need of an update. That all being said, we would stay there again with no reservations. The breakfast was excellent & items were replenished quickly. There was plenty of parking.

The room has a kitchen, kitchenware, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and you can cook by yourself. The hotel is clean and bright and has a gym. Although there are not many types of breakfast, there are various nutrients. Nearby is the airport, like to see the feeling of the plane. No planes take off and land at night, so you can sleep well.

Great stay! Had small technical problems but was resolved right away. So I would stay here again because it was comfortable.

Our family of four (parents, 9 yo, 11 yo) had a nice stay. So nice in fact that we stayed an additional, unplanned night for a total of five nights. The location was perfect and close to everything we needed—Mall of America, outlet mall, restaurants, Target Center, and more. The hotel was clean and smelled fresh. We’ve had several musty rooms at other hotels, so this was nice. Loved that there was a Starbucks/cafe and a restaurant. Both the hotel and restaurant staff were kind and professional. We seemed to get a late start in the mornings, so housekeeping wasn’t able to come in. We just asked for towels and extra tp when we needed them and it was no problem. Our toilet wasn’t flushing properly the first night. When we asked if someone could look at it, staff fixed it Immediately. The kids only swam once. The pool was clean and spacious, just very hot and humid in the pool area. The beds (2 queens) in our room were comfortable. Our room had a fridge and coffee maker. It was a fun, relaxing stay and we would return.

No hot WATER!! For showers in the morning. This doesn’t make a happy customer. I had a early flight. Notified the front desk and said they could not take care of the problem until later in the morning. I have stayed at this hotel numerous times and this is the first time i have had a problem. I asked the front desk if they could adjust the bill and they said the manager was the person to speak too and of course that person wasn’t available until later. That ruined my experience with this hotel

Overall the hotel was good. Asked to have room cleaned after 4 of 5 days staying at the hotel and was told we were not on the list, that I needed to call the front desk. I felt if I asked that this shouldn’t a hard request to fulfill? Cleaned the garbage and topped up the toilet paper my self. Rooms were starting to show signs of wear and tear. Needed some maintenance or new furniture in the room I was in.

Hotel was in a decent location and had ample parking (although confusing that they may or may not charge for parking). The staff were friendly and quickly changed our room when we found items left behind by someone else in the room at check-in. The manager's reception was the WORST that we've ever experienced at an Embassy Suites. Chips & Chex only that ran out quickly and was next to the buffet so people kept waiting for additional items to come out, no cleaning of tables, only 1 bartender for adult drinks so extremely long lines. Every other Embassy Suites I've been too has included a hot item or side dish item in the manager's reception and a manager or staff member rotating around to tables checking in with guests. That didn't happen here. We ended up ordering kids' meals at the restaurant but didn't get any adult meals because they would not allow any substitutions and all food items had something that adults could not eat. Turns out BBQ sauce for chicken strips was an extra cost at the restaurant, which seems odd for a $8 kids meal to not include a dipping sauce, plus it said it came with drinks but we didn't get any (which was ok because the kids already had some pop from the manager's reception). Luckily, the women working was wonderful and helped us out. Hallways were bright and noisy which is hard when there are window out to the hallway and curtains don't completely cover. At 2 am, there was a person yelling outside the door that we think was at the wrong room and it felt creepy that they were trying to look in! Hideway bed extremely uncomfortable, you could feel the springs poking through, no blankets provided. Only 2 towels in room even though it slept 4. We asked for blankets and more towels and both were provided so appreciate the staff for brining those up. Breakfast was the highlight of our stay. While it was slow to get plates and food restocked as well as tables cleaned, there was a good variety of breakfast items! Unfortunately, they only had 1 person making omlets and the line was a 10-15 minute wait the entire time we were there so no one in our group used that option. Check-out was easy. For the price, iffy if we'd stay again because we could have stayed at another chain with a breakfast option.
