I have been through a difficult check-in. I called the assistance and at the end we have been able to figure the problem out (even if the man speaking was not kind at all). The room is ok, functional and good for the price.

Quiet location. Self-check-in is the new trend (...), but after a long trip, it's simply tiring and annoying.
The room design was appealing and clean.
Unfortunately, three windows were open and the room was completely cold when we arrived.
The shower is in need of renovation. The bathroom lighting is poor. The pillows are substandard.

I'm visiting one of the great print shows, FESPA at Berlin Messe. Staying in The Base, which is incredibly economical, and the quality of the room is fantastic. Plus, the community in Pankow is amazing. Staff here at Base One are lovely. Vishu sorted out my bar needs. Carlos helped me arrange an extended stay at a very reasonable price, plus gave me a good history lesson on Bolivia. Lorenzo helped me find bicycle rental, plus we shared notes on fitness training! This is a great place to stay, a smashing community of 300 or so folks, plus hotel rooms etc. Highly recommend Base One, and staff here are top notch, kind, dedicated young folks. This was our second stay in the hotel, the first being just a week or so after it opened. All of the negative issues we experienced on our first visit remain, 18 months later. The positives are: 1. Comfortable, spacious room 2. Great location The negatives are: 1. Room service is minimal 2. Dining facilities very rudimentary (the initially planned food trucks nevr materialised) 3. No tea/coffee making facilities in rooms 4. No fridge in room 5. Points 3 an 4 are especially important as the cafe/bar offers a very limited service (on almost every occasion we tried to purchase coffee wecwere told the machine had been turned off!) All in all thisis a potentially great place to stay, badly let down by poor attention to detail). A great pity.
