The Poly Plaza hotel is located right above the metro station. You walk out of the metro and you are right in front of the hotel. There are plenty of restaurants close by and also a large supermarket. The hotel is a bit older but very nicely kept. We also used the swimming pool, while we were there. But please remember that you need a swimming cap to swim. Although, if you dont have it, you can quickly buy it right at the reception and it was not that expensive to buy it right there. We stayed there for 2 nights and we loved our stay.

Good location, metro station in front of hotel. Gym and pool, theater, one bar, restaurant. Confortable bed, clean room, nice view.

Checked in on 1st day encountered hiccups. Hotel could find my reservation thru’ Trip.com. Upon showing them Trip confirmation email, they replied my reservation has been cancelled. Whose problem? I was ask to cancel my reservation and reapply and I refused. Finally they gave me a room at RMB 710 per night.
In my 1st night stay after midnight 2-3am I went to ease myself and felt. I hurt myself most severe pain at my right rib. When bad to sleep till the next morning. The pain was extremely bad (see pic on swelling). I wife requested an ambulance. We were sent to a hospital without escort from the hospital. Waited about an hour at A&E no attention on me. Wife queried and found out that the hospital x-ray machine was down. We took a cab to another hospital. The hotel should have a hotel staff to escort us as we are not familiar with their hospital procedures. Finally had an x-ray taken to confirm no fracture with my rib but more of muscles injuries. Given medication and to review one week later after 5 hours in the hospital.
Upon returning to the hotel, I informed the hotel that I have a medical review one week later and need to extend my stay another week. The next morning (2nd day) the hotel manager informed me that they will charge me RMB 650 a night. I disagreed as I was hurt in their hotel yet I still need to spend several thousands in their hotel. I fought for my right and told them I will escalate the matter. Finally they agreed to provide free stay for the extended period. But I hightailed to them that the injury sustained in the hotel has disrupted my visiting plan and I was confined to the room for more rest. I told them I should be charged for my stay for the first night only and not four nights. They are looking into my stand.
On the 3rd day afternoon, my wife took a shower. She bathing half way and shouted for help. I rushed to the bath with pains to my rib area and was surprised by the dirty and rusty water that flowed out from the shower. This was witnessed by a lady room cleaner. See picture. In view of the cold weather, my wife soapy body as well as shock… my wife has a fever on the 3rd night had a fever. I gave her the Panadol that I always have with me for travel. On the 4th day and present moment my wife still having slight fever. I bought some local fever medicine for her. Today at 8pm she is still in bed resting.

Poly Hotel is very good! Good environment, clean rooms, timely and thoughtful hotel service. A very cost-effective hotel on the East Second Ring Road. Downstairs is the Dongsishitiao subway station. There are many shared bicycles to ride, making it convenient to go anywhere. The Mutianyu Great Wall bus boarding point is only 1 km away. I ordered ** twice for meals and used the Little Elephant Supermarket twice for shopping, and both arrived in more than 20 minutes.
