"It was too far away from Kagoshima-chuo Railway station to walk. Have to take the bus. First city in Japan that I could not use my SUICA card on the buses. Make sure you got small change.
However, it's only about 10 minutes walk to the Tenmonkan Street, the shopping/eating area in Kagoshima.
Nice kitchen if you want to do your own cooking. There is a vending machine on the 4th floor with beer and vodka on the rocks. Also, there are 2 laundry machines and dryers - one set on the third floor and the other on the rooftop. The rooftop had a gas dryer which is much better at drying clothes."

"Located within walking distance of the port, this hotel is ideally located for travelers catching a ferry. The accommodation occupies several floors of a multi-tenant building, and guests enter and exit via elevator. The accommodation offers dormitory-style rooms, showers, hair dryers, a lounge, and other amenities, and is reasonably clean. However, the check-in process is extremely simplified, and there seems to be no staff present at night, raising serious questions about security. The night I visited, a drunken riot broke out in the room, and police were called, but no staff were present, leaving guests to spend the night in a cluttered room. There are other affordable dormitories in Kagoshima City, so perhaps I should check their availability first."
