Dereler Mahallesi Hotels with Balcony

The hotel offers a magical otherworldly ”heaven-earth-hell” experience. It started with a hooded and cloaked reception staff welcoming us with free drinks and cake at this majestic high ceiling sitting room straight out of a medieval castle. We were given the grand tour of the hotel, going up the main dining room, through the bar and indoor lounge area, the open roof deck with the majestic view, through the bright and light color appointed ”heaven” rooms to the dark mysterious and cave-like ”earth-hell” rooms, and finally down Dante's ”hell” where the heated indoor pool and spa was located. Everywhere was picturesque. We couldn't help but take pictures all the time, even in the bathroom. Besides the place itself, service was excellent. Restaurant served a beautiful breakfast spread, literally filling up the entire table counter space with delicious jams, nuts, cheese, bread, deli meat. And we could even order additional hot egg dishes like menemen, omelettes and pancakes. Only downside to the hotel is that it is not handicapped-friendly. No elevators and bathrooms all have tubs with shower.

Great location within walking distance to the town centre. We were there for one night only but managed to make the most of the magical setting - the terrace in front of our room and the restaurant had a great view over the Urgup and the valley. The cave rooms were modern and still gave an authentic vibe to the whole experience. The hotel staff made us feel very welcome and was helpful in making our stay the most comfortable possible. Higly recommend if you are visiting the area.

Cave Konak Hotel is a very clean, well maintained hotel, steps away from lovely restaurants and souvenier shops. After a tiring journey with delayed flights at every stage, we arrived in Cappadocia at 3.00 am. It was a pleasant surprise to come out of the airport and find Adnan, the co-owner of the hotel, personally waiting for us. We did not have the cave room and had the suite instead which was quite lovely. The care and attention that Adnan, his co-owner, Colleen, and their staff (especially Hashim) put into the hotel clearly shows through. The personal attention to detail, the homemade jams for breakfast, the recommendations for local restaurants and the suggestions for what activities to do; it was all much appreciated. There's only one reason why I gave the hotel 4 stars instead of 5 and that is Colleen. I'm hoping that Colleen is open to some constructive criticism. She's the classic example of someone who is penny wise and pound foolish. The fact that she asked for payment for a bottle of water we'd used from the minibar left a sour taste at the end of our stay at Cave Konak Hotel. When we could buy a pack of 6 two liter bottles of water at less than $2 at the local convenience store, it seemed petty for Colleen to ask us to pay for a bottle of water! Especially given that in all our travels, we've never come across a hotel where a complimentary bottle of water is not provided in the rooms. All the good vibes Colleen had built with us in the previous 3 days went down the drain at that point. To be brutally honest, if it wasn't for Adnan, I'd have rated Cave Konak 3 stars just because of that one incident. People will forget what you said or did but will never forget how you made them feel! And the feeling Colleen left us with as we were driving off to the airport was not a nice one. The hot-air balloon ride is a definite must. I'd do that again in a heartbeat. We thoroughly enjoyed the Green Tour in Cappadocia. I wouldn't recommend the Red Tour though as it just involved being bussed from one valley to another to see rock formations, with marketing stops in between at a leather showroom and a ceramic/pottery store (maybe it was just our luck with the tour guide we had for the day as he seemed rather uninterested and sounded like he was just regurgitating information that we'd already read online). The sunset ATV Tour was great fun and I would recommend it. However, we had an extremely scary experience when the brakes failed on the quad bike my wife was riding and the only way she could bring it to a stop was by ramming into another quad bike. It was either that or going over the cliff! The equipment was obviously not well maintained and we had the added difficulty of the operator/guide not being conversant in English. Maybe we should have done our own research and booked the tours ourselves rather than rely on Cave Konak Hotel to do it for us. To summarize, Cave Konak is an wonderful hotel. The hotel is beautiful it’s central and well located. It’s very clean. It’s an amazing experience to stay in a cave. The breakfast is outstanding, Ibrahim made our day start in a wonderful way every day. Service is outstanding as everyone is pleasant, friendly and helpful specially Arda who is professional and works hard to make sure the guests are happy and Ibrahim who does the same 👍🏻. There are beautiful terraces, where to spend your mornings or nights looking at the beautiful Cappadocia. I would definitely recommend this hotel the only thing I would improve is that in a room which was 605 there was no door between the bedroom in the bathroom so you had no privacy and also at night if you turn on the light, it would just shine on the face of the other person that was sleeping, so that would be better. It also has a little bit warm but they do provide a fan that makes it much better but it’s facing the sun is hitting on it for the whole morning and the rooms to heat up other than that I would say it’s an absolute gem.

200-year-old building, it feels OK, the facilities are not very good, no air conditioning

We stayed at Dere Suites during a film production job at Cappadocia. We were a team of ten and all of us loved our experience staying in this special hotel. The cave rooms were all unique, some quite big with multiple rooms and others small and cosy. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, organising food, laundry services, transport and always attentive to our needs. The hotel is located just a short five minute walk into the village which has really good cafes and restaurants, all with wifi. The restaurant serves a great buffet breakfast and while we didn’t have dinner there we heard it is very popular for tourists. Well worth booking for group or small bookings.
