The setting of the hotel is the main selling point here. Gorgeous coves to go swimming and a lovely reef club with direct water access for swimming. The staff are excellent too. Unfortunately the food and rooms are a let down. Our room was tiny and resembled a hospital bedroom with nice bedding. It had a very clinical feel and we really didn’t want to spend time in it at all. The food is very average. The cheese and ham toasted sandwich in the reef club was grim, I would make better at home myself. We had lunch in the reef club and the food was very average and the menu is very boring and unimaginative. Breakfast setting is lovely outside but again the food was very average and the coffee is awful. The staff informed us they use instant coffee and you can tell immediately. My poached eggs and bacon was very bad and overcooked. The quality of the ingredients certainly is not 5 star. The hotel also charge guests for use of the kayaks, paddle boards, sauna and steam room. There is no shuttle service to go into town despite a minibus parked outside the hotel. Overall we liked the location but the hotel needs to do better.

As a family of four we really enjoyed two days on our round trip of Sicily at this beautiful hotel. The hotel has everything you need. It has clean and spacious rooms, a tasty breakfast, a great pool area, private beaches with a marvelous scenery and the possibility to do yoga classes and use the gym. July is really hot. The kids spent basically all day at the pool and really enjoyed it. Just watch out not to get sunburned. Another thing to watch out for is that it is extremely slippery around the pool. We saw three guests fall, one who broke two toes falling. Maybe the hotel should put up more signs to encourage cautiousness around the pool. The rooms were really clean and you get an extra beach bag with towels for the pool or beach. The breakfast offered plenty of possibilities, eggs of all kinds, coffees, bread, cereals etc. they also offer delicious gluten free options. The yoga class is really recommended. Angela, a Swedish yoga instructor, offers classes four times a week. The spa treatment is also recommended and at the gym you have a decent selection of multi-gyms, treadmills, dumbbells etc. We stayed at room with even numbers and unfortunately an infant called our room 15-20 times during our stay, waking us up both mornings at six something and waking our kids up one of the nights. The hotel of course couldn’t help this and offered us to check out one hour later on the last day, and a complementary drink. It was really annoying so if you can avoid staying at 111 it might be smart, but hopefully the hotel finds a way to block these kind of random calls. The hotel is located a 15-20 minute walk away from Cefalu. Due to the parking situation in Cefalu I would recommend to take a taxi. It should cost you around 11-12 EUR.

Hotel's location is a convenient short walk to the old town. The in-hotel free parking is a bonus if you book a Classic Room. Room is clean but small, and can be a squeeze if you have big luggages. The only hotel I came across in all my years of travel that does not provide a kettle, and charges for a bottle of water. They might as well charge for the toilet paper. Petty, penny wise and pound foolish! Even if you ask to borrow one, there was none. They charges €2.50 for a 500ml bottle of water, more than 7x what you get from the supermarket. And there is no price list in the minibar. We were charged €7.50 for just one bottle consumed, mistaking the additional charges for tourist taxes. Consolation: Breakfast is good though.

This is a large, modern hotel with a spacious reception area and restaurant. It's right across from the beach, and if you get a note from the hotel the beach will give you 20% off on the cost of renting a beach chair (16 euros instead of 20 for two people). The reception area had many signs about COVID restrictions, but nobody seemed to be enforcing them. I was a little put off by the signs in the room telling you all the things that are not allowed (No outside food in the rooms! No doing your laundry in the sink! No washing out your bathing suit in the bathroom!), but the room was pleasant and clean, with air conditioning. We had a sea view. The breakfast buffet was good, but it was annoying that we weren't allowed to sit at the best tables in the outdoor restaurant because those were reserved for lunch. They weren't marked ”reserved,” so we were embarrassed when the staff made us move after we had already sat down (this happened to other guests as well). The hotel is in the modern part of town, but just a few blocks from the much more scenic old town.

I had never been to Sicily before so I was so careful with where I chose to book within my budget. Let's also factor in I've never driven in mainland Europe (where the road side and etiquette differs) and I didn't want to stress myself out on holiday. My partner felt the same way. So, walking distance was a factor too. Hotel Tourist is 15 minutes walk from the main town of Cefalú. Its really not too far, you can even see the Cathedral of Cefalú from the hotel and from your balcony on that side. The walk itself is a lovely stroll on a beach promenade not too far from some restaurants. We booked bed and breakfast with a balcony. We aren't the types to hang around our accommodation too long so if that's you, I highly recommend Hotel Tourist. I'm unsure if they've undergone much renovation in the past 5 years (after reading some concerning reviews) but our room was perfect, spotless clean, bathroom clean and spacious with a good shower (and water pressure). We loved the continental breakfast and looked forward to it every morning, the food was lovely and really fresh. I was loving the coffee machine (for espressos, cappuccinos, americanos etc) I want to mention a staff member called Maria who was so kind and helpful. She's a treasure. The bar was very quiet (I might have to put this down to the season, we stayed mid-May) so if you are looking for a hopping hotel bar, you might not like that. It didn't bother us, we preferred to go out regardless of that. I had a very positive experience. Again, note some of the bad reviews are old and maybe a bit unfair. Hotel Tourist is 3 star. It has a lot going for it and we would stay again. Cefalu is indeed like the pictures, absolutely stunning. One tip for prospective travellers would be to be careful on the footpaths, they are quite badly maintained and I had a tumble myself! Other than that, you won't regret booking.

My wife and I traveled for one week in Sicily. We stayed 4 nights at this resort and we enjoyed it immensely. It started with the check in process by Angela. She was wonderful describing all the benefits of the resort. She then smiled and said we had been upgraded to room 407. This was fantastic because this particular room was a suite with two different balconies, one facing the sea and one facing the gardens and pool. The entire ground are superbly maintained and clean. The rooms spotless, which is very important to my wife and I. The restaurant and bar staff provided great service with a smile, always willing to provide directions or recommendations. The food itself, while good was not great. Breakfast was good and a great way to start our site seeing. Be prepared to take a ten minute walk down into town. The walk back up to the resort can be challenging, but taxi's are plentiful and only 15 Euro. The resort itself is very laid back. It provided a quite get away that we were looking for. We will be back, and we highly recommend this resort.

I feel a little cruel rating this place a 3 out of 5 because it was one of the cleanest hotels I’ve been to and the reception staff were always so welcoming and friendly. The reason for the three stars is purely because the hotel itself is SO DATED and you feel like you’re stepping back in time with the decor. To get in the room you need to insert a key card & chip into a slot in the wall. But taking the rest of the hotel inti consideration, I can imagine this was top notch tech when chip and pin bank cards originally came out. This card then had to be used for the electric/air con in the room and they only gave us one key so we were unable to leave the air con on when we went out. We also tried to turn it down to 16°c as it was still quite hot when we went but it never really got any lower than 21°c. It didn’t seem very powerful at all. We went Bed & Breakfast. There wasn’t a great selection of food - Mainly cakes and pastries. And some pancakes that were just left on a plate (not being kept warm). If they ran out, they ran out. I had yogurt and some granola every morning. Which isn’t the end of the world or far from what I’ve have at home but o would have had something different every morning if there was the choice. Going back to the building, the restaurant was on the top floor which was like a UPVC conservatory type building - which didn’t hold water. We had a torrential downpour on one of the nights and a storm which left the floor littered with their branded beach towels at breakfast. Every few steps you’d walk past another saturated beach towel on the floor collecting the water falling through the ceiling. The views of the horizon and Cefalu town from the top floor at breakfast however were beautiful. Also, the restaurant was home to one of the best book swaps I’ve ever seen on holiday! Like I say, I do feel cruel giving just three stars but it was perhaps a 5 star hotel way back in the 70’s. It is in serious need of renovation and modernisation. Sorry ♀️

Iian1811What an amazing place to stay. Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful with information about what to do, see, where to go and also where to eat. The room was very modern, lovely and clean and fresh. Good comfy bed. Lovely En Suite. Great selection of buffet breakfast with our hosts there to make Tea/coffee and help with any questions. There is parking outside but be aware it is on a first come, first serve basis and very popular! The outside of the building does look a bit tired but don't let that put you off. The apartment and rooms are to a high standard. Would definitely stay again.
A fabulous, clean and friendly hotel. Location superb right in centre of historic old town. Bedrooms fantastic with balcony and great bathroom. Very comfortable. Continental breakfast excellent with the fresh fruit, cakes, coffee etc. And this hotel very good value.
GGuest UserThe place it’s behind the train station, but any way you have to walk up- all around like 15minutes. It’s on 2nd floor apartment no Lift. It’s 4 or 5 rooms inside. Room it’s normal size. Bathroom it’s little bit small. There is no water. The air conditioner was on my left side my head .. so it’s possible to turn on - otherwise next day you will be sick. So about the breakfast There was a plate with 3 very small pieces of cheese - like 1sm -3sm mix together with meat - so I ask the girl for clean cheese 🧀 that’s not mix with meat - she say - she only that and tell me to take out the meat …so this is no comment . Was yogurt with sugar- my guy is diabetic. Was cake - that’s also sugar.and she have it some kind of very old apricot .. so we couldn’t eat anything.. just drink espresso.. what we understand it’s - once you pay - they don’t F… care more about you. Pity I don’t do foto for the breakfast.. I was so disappointed.. the way she talk to me .. that we go in our room .. take our language and we go. So we will never go more there.
GGetaway44784549148The room was clean and modern with a view across the town towards the sea and the bed was comfortable. The elevated position means that it’s a walk down hill to the town but more importantly a walk back up to your room. The steps down to the main road are lit at night. It can be a bit of a drag up the hill and would challenge someone who was infirm or unfit. The walls were thin so noises were easily heard and there was some building work in a neighbouring property that started at 0800. This was listed as a B&B and although the listing didn’t specifically say there was breakfast we assumed there would be one, this being a bed and breakfast. Apparently this is not served in low season. This means when you go out for breakfast you’re probably out for the day to avoid walking back up that hill. The room rate reflected the location and lack of breakfast. Overall a low price but a bit of an inconvenient location. You get what you pay for.
