Shanshan Hotels with balcony

After we encountered a bad experience with a desert glamping resort in Dunhuang, we were a bit cautious with Dune when we booked it. However, after I communicated with the manager in Dune via WeChat, I was more confident as he was very polite and helpful. He helped us to booked a transfer from Turpan Airport to Dune resort. As our flight arrived Turpan in the evening, it was late when we arrived at Dune. The manager and another staff came to the entrance of the driveway to welcome us and helped us with our luggage. They took us straight to our tent, and they upgraded us to a bigger tent, too. We woke up to this beautiful Kumtag Desert Sand dunes, right in front of our tent! It was so beautiful. As the off peak season started, we were the only guests there but the staff were serving us with delicious breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious and plentiful! The manager and staff were very attentive to our requests. One of the staff has helped us to arrange a local guide/driver to take us to the Kumtag desert for an exciting ATV ride and sand sliding. We had a great time. We ended up hiring the same guide, a pleasant and calm Uygur young guy to take us for some sightseeing and dropped us back to Turpan. I would say to anyone who is looking for a real desert glamping, please come to Dune in Shahshan near Turpan instead of Dunhuang.

The navigation location is the winery visitor center. There are charging piles, but the charging price of 1.2 yuan a day is a bit expensive. There is a restaurant inside, which is delicious and affordable. The front desk of the hotel is very considerate, the room is spacious, the mattress is relatively soft, and it is quiet. You can visit the winery in the hotel, which is quite interesting. The bathroom has a bit of a peculiar smell, so it's best to block the drain when sleeping.

The Shanshan Jurassic Museum is just a 580-meter walk away, perfect for history and science enthusiasts. The surrounding streets are lively but not noisy, and it's super close to the New Town Night Market in the evening—a perfect balance of vibrancy and convenience! ✨ 🛏️ Rooms exceeded my expectations! Smart and comfortable features combined. The ”Plus Smart Relaxation Twin Room” I booked was absolutely amazing! Two spacious 1.35-meter double beds allow for plenty of room to roll around in comfortably. The deep-sleep mattresses instantly envelop you, ensuring a restful sleep until you naturally wake up (even those with sensitive beds won't have trouble sleeping! 😴). The entire room is equipped with smart technology for ultimate convenience; a simple voice command controls the lights and curtains, and a wireless charger eliminates the need for data cables – a delight for detail-oriented individuals! The 30-43㎡ space is bright and airy, with cleverly designed decorative faux windows that make for stunning photos. 📸 💰 Unbeatable value! Experience the quality of a thousand-dollar stay for just a hundred! With a summer special, it's only 93 yuan per night, yet it includes ”smart devices + comfortable bedding + pet-friendly amenities + airport/train station pick-up and drop-off”... This level of service is simply unbeatable at this price point! Moreover, the hotel is newly opened in 2025, boasting modern facilities and excellent cleanliness, completely avoiding any ”cheap” feel and instead exuding the sophistication of a designer hotel. In short, whether you're traveling with family, as a couple, or solo, this hotel fulfills all your expectations for ”comfort + convenience + high value!” Next time I come to Shanshan, I'll definitely come back two or even more times! 💯

The room felt like a large tent, with the bathroom and sink located behind the bedroom area. Water splashed out when someone showered, but otherwise, everything was fine. Ventilation was decent, and there wasn't a strong odor. The only real perk of staying in the desert was being able to watch the sunrise the next day and have the entire desert to ourselves before the first tourists arrived. I had hoped to enjoy the desert the evening I checked in, but it was too windy and sandy after sunset to do anything. One area for improvement is that the hotel stay doesn't include admission to the scenic area, nor does it cover the shuttle bus tickets for children. We had to buy extra tickets at the entrance, which wasn't a great experience. The hotel price is already quite high, so for a hotel located within the scenic area, this should really be included. The complimentary hot pot dinner was good, with generous portions, enough for two adults and one child. The complimentary 'Lost Loulan' VR show is also worth watching.
