If there were another Hilton’s in Johannesburg, that is where I’d be staying. But there is no other option for a loyal Hilton guy like me, so I spent 10 nights at the Hilton Sandton. I will readily admit that from day-to-day, the staff and the facilities were absolutely wonderful. Staff were friendly and accommodating, the Executive Lounge was very well serviced, the restaurant was excellent, the hotel grounds superb, the Business Centre efficient. I had pre-arranged airport pickup and daily business rides through the hotel and our driver MORGAN proved himself many times over to be reliable and flexible thoughout my stay. However, both the checkin and checkout process with the Front Desk were distasteful, disturbed my entire stay, and made me wish I was somewhere else. I had reserved and prepaid for a King room; as a long time Diamond member, I naturally expected some sort of upgrade, especially since I was staying for 10 nights. After 18 hours of flights, and a further 24 hours of layover, all I wanted to do was sleep. I had checked in online and knew my room assignment. At the Front Desk, I handed over my American Express Hilton card, and passports for my wife and I to HOWARD (“an experienced Front Office team member” according to hotel General Manager JOHN MCAREE). At first, HOWARD could not find my reservation and, next, once found thought it had been cancelled and, next, thought the reservation was in my wife’s name (it was not), and finally when he found the reservation, took a copy of my wife’s passport (but not my own for some unknown reason). I then had the temerity to ask if there any possibility of an upgrade. “Oh no no no” said Howard. “Why not” I asked. “Because you checked in online. Once the room is assigned, there is no changing it” said HOWARD. I knew from experience this was rubbish and not in compliance with Hilton policy or procedures. Indeed, when I checkedin online, the Hilton website said that an upgrade would be made available if possible. So I gently persisted in my questioning, and Howard gently insisted that no upgrade was possible since I had checked in online. I believe it was only when I asked for the business card of the General Manager that HOWARD checked with a colleague and, indeed, an upgrade was magically offered. It was the lowest level of upgrade possible, but something is better than nothing. I thanked him for the upgrade, and again asked for the GM’s business card. They had none. Indeed, they wrote down his name for me (three times with three different spellings) but did not know his phone # or email address. (I later googled him and got both). Perhaps due to this little interaction, HOWARD forgot to tell me about the Business Centre, the gift shop, the free shuttle to the local mall, hotel restaurant hours, the WIFI code, the hotel spa, or any of the other hotel services. He did mention the Executive Lounge several times in a tone approaching reverence. Never in my 20 years of experience with Hilton

I stayed at the Michelangelo for business and it was the perfect location and price. I attended a conference at the Sandton Convention Centre and the Michelangelo Towers was perfect for that. The two bedroom apartment was ideal for our visit.

What you see is what you get and then some. The staff are so polite and keen to assist; the rooms are spacious and very clean; and the breakfast has quite some variety. The location is very central within the Sandton area which makes moving around pretty easy especially since they provide shuttle services to and from the Sandton city mall.

I am a fairly frequent business traveller and stay in many hotels- most I don’t review as they just don’t stand out! This one however, I had to review!! I arrived a little earlier than check in and was greeted by Itumelemg on reception who was very helpful! My room was on the 18th floor and really lovely and well appointed! I was even treated to an AMAZING biltong platter - thank you!! 😊 Room amenities were great (nespresso coffee and Charlotte Rhys products!) I then had a few meetings close to the hotel (within 5km) and was offered a complimentary transfer and pick up by their drivers. Siphwe really looked after me and was a great ambassador for the hotel. The hotel itself is very well managed but what sets them above their comp set is the team who represent the hotel! Well done to everyone for exceptional service! A fantastic visit- I’ll certainly be back!

Very disappointed after our stay at The DaVinci Hotel.
I was thoroughly looking forward to this stay as I have not stayed in this hotel before and it had been on my list, check in took quite long, which didn't bother me initially but ended up being a compounding factor after everything else, we had booked online and it took close to an hour for us to get checked in and given our room key, we used this time to look around.
When we finally got to our room, we quickly left everything and went to the mall then had dinner, we got back relatively late and only upon getting back did we notice the bed was 2 single beds pushed together, however we booked and paid for a delux king room, needless to say I spent the duration of the evening falling through the 2 beds as I was trying to cuddle my lady, so I didn't get much sleep to say the least.
When we got up in the morning I quite badly needed a coffee to wake me up after the night I had and Lo and behold, the coffee machine was not working!
By this point you can imagine the frustration.. so we got dressed and went down for breakfast, the process of simply getting a coffee took close to 40 minutes, let alone the food arriving! We actually ended up getting up and leaving because we had plans for the day and did not expect to wait over an hour for our breakfast to arrive! The cold food that was available at the buffet was very dry as well but we scoffed it down and went on our way, it was only while we were walking out that the juice we ordered when we arrived was beginning to make its way to our table, so we were given the bottle and we went on our way
We mentioned the incorrect room as well as the coffee machine to the lady at the checkout desk, to which I was reassured that next time we stay it will be nice
I can very confidently confirm that there will not be a next time from us, as we do expect a certain service when checking into a 5 star hotel and paying the price that comes along with it
On a positive note, the concierge was helpful with taking our luggage to the room
Such a pity for a lovely perfectly located place to put such little effort into the quality they provide

The Leonardo In a class of its own .. We spent four nights at The Leonardo in a two bedroom grand suite. We were pleasantly surprised on arrival to be greeted by warm friendly staff and a beautiful reception area and lounge. The art work throughout the property is stunning and adds to the general feeling of being in a high end establishment. There was initially some mix up with our booking but Penelope was very helpful and made sure that we were able to check in without any delay. After our Moet&Chandon welcome drink we were taken to our well appointed suite which had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable. The Al La Carte breakfast was very high quality (although slow to arrive at times) and had enough choice for everyone. Presentation was top notch and we left the hotel each morning feeling very satisfied and ready for the days adventures. Overall, this is a gorgeous hotel in an excellent location. It is made even more homely by the attentiveness of the staff who are alway on hand to make sure that no needs go unmet. Special shout out to Penelope, Bobo ( aka The President) Paulina, Tshepo & Ray (Security Door Man Extraordinaire) !! Great team !

DECENT location, accommodation, parking, WIFI, breakfast! We found the MAX clean, elegant, smart with boutique decor in the dining area. Rooms came with BIG mirror, BIG rubbish bin, BIG fridge, separate toilet, wet/dry, laundry rack However, no hairdryer, kitchen not fully equipped and no bottle opener Service mediocre, as made a request which was forgotten. Disclaimer: review is over a year late.....as still unpacking memories and reviews....
GGuest UserDuring our recent stay at the hotel, my expectations were unfortunately not met, largely due to what I found to be significant oversights and, at times, concerning behavior from some members of the hotel staff. As someone who has had the privilege of traveling to over 76 countries and has been a guest at numerous top-tier hotels worldwide, I believe I have a comprehensive understanding of the standards that one should anticipate from establishments that pride themselves on excellence in hospitality. The experiences that stood out during my stay were not in line with these standards. From the onset, the reception was less than warm. While I understand that everyone can have an off day, in the hospitality industry, it's paramount to ensure that guests feel welcomed and valued. Regrettably, this was not the impression I received. Further, there were several operational glitches that marred the experience. For instance, our room service orders were either delayed significantly or mixed up on more than one occasion. Additionally, basic amenities that one would expect to be replenished daily, such as toiletries and towels, were often overlooked. These might seem like minor issues in isolation, but when combined, they paint a picture of a system that is not functioning as seamlessly as it should be. Moreover, during our interactions with the hotel staff, there were instances where their behavior left a lot to be desired. Professionalism, in my opinion, extends beyond just performing one's job duties—it encompasses how one communicates, addresses concerns, and ensures that guests are having the best possible experience. On several occasions, when we raised concerns or made requests, the responses we received were either dismissive or lacked the necessary urgency. This was not only surprising but also disheartening, considering the reputation of the hotel. Furthermore, the general ambiance of the hotel did not resonate with the relaxing and refreshing experience one would expect. Whether it was the noise levels in the common areas, the upkeep of the facilities, or the lack of attention to detail in areas such as dining or leisure activities, the overall feel was that of a place that was not operating at its peak potential. Now, I do not write this review with the intention to disparage but to provide feedback that could be constructive. The foundation of the hospitality industry is built on the experiences and feedback of its patrons. While the physical aesthetics of a hotel play a role in its appeal, it's the intangibles—like service quality, staff behavior, and operational efficiency—that truly define a guest's stay. Given my extensive travels and experiences, I found the current state of affairs at this hotel to be notably different from the premier service I've grown accustomed to at other renowned establishments. I believe that potential guests should be aware of these issues, as they could impact the quality of their stay. Moreover, I sincerel
GGuest UserDisliked: I honestly feel like the pictures posted on Bookings.Com are a total misrepresentation of what one walks into. We walked into an apartment that looked empty. The lounge area to be precise looked like our furniture was repossessed or we were new tenants waiting for furniture to be delivered. It looked cold and unwelcoming. The pictures on the other hand showed a fully furnished apartment with carpets and or a table in the middle of the lounge. 90% of the TV channels gave error 48-32, and the channels that play without a problem are kids channels. Apparently, the area has signal problems. The cutlery and crockery was a joke, 1 eating fork, 1 spoon, 2 steak forks, 2 teaspoons, 3 butter knives, no bread knife or chopping knives. 4 pots, only 2 of those pots have lids. Only 1 small serving dish, the other one had no lid. When we checked in, we had to pay R200 damage fees, which we were aware of, however, no one walked us to our room for an inspection, despite having paid the damage fee.....when we got to our room, the kettle lid was broken, the cabinet door on the island was broken... The accommodation is located on Grayston drive. It's a busy street, so obviously, there are no silent nights. So if you are hoping for a quiet day or night l, this won't be a place for you. The same night we checked in, we wanted to cancel our reservation and book somewhere else. Unfortunately for us when we went to reception, the reception was closed and we couldn't be assisted. for a place located in Sandton I had high expectations and they were definitely not met.
Location is right at the heart of SANDTON. 6mins drive from Mandela Square and SandTon City Mall. No load shedding, fast internet, privacy. Honestly everything was nice during our stay in Sandhurst, we truly enjoyed our stay over there ( 1 month ). The receptionist who attended to us on our first day of arrival was very helpful. Melissa Thank you
GGuest UserI have lived here for how many months? honestly the management Has a wrong way of treating their guest long stay or not.. I mean I was paying 650 everyday and never once did they remember to send a cleaner..don’t pay up by 10:41am and then cleaner comes after 10days and she isn’t supposed to clean?! For a place I have stayed at the same apartments for 4months?
LLIANGThe hotel does not include breakfast, but you can make your own kitchenware. The parking lot under the room is very convenient. The suite is more suitable for children, and the space is large for children to move around.
MMbaliGOnly useful for sleeping if you have urgent in the area. It’s in a secluded area and definitely does not match the photos and needs a total revamping.
Plus side, rooms are big.
Nothing appealing to even take photos.
