Living in Wasilla the lakefront hotel is close to the airport which I had to go to at 4 AM. It was quiet and clean and service was quick.

We came here as a start to our longer Alaska trip. There were pros and cons on both ends so was hard to finalize a rating. But I’ll just list them out here: Pros: - Location was fantastic - Right next to a **** dispensary - Spacious rooms - Easy control over AC/Heat - Good blackout curtains - Staff was very nice Cons: - Although cheaper than other hotels in the area, still felt like the nightly rate was way too high for what it was (after tax, we paid ~$350 for the first night and ~$380 for the second night) - Breakfast orders took forever every morning, and also taste-wise it was just ok - Elevator was crazy slow (despite only being 3 floors) and stairs were on the far ends of the building so it was annoying to get to - Elevator also stalled at one point and I was positive we were either stuck or gonna fall, shortly after another couple had an even scarier experience and they had to close it entirely - No dining menu in rooms (or online) only way to know breakfast or dinner options was by going downstairs and reading their menu - Beds were just ok. I didn’t sleep well but could have been me adjusting to new time zone

I'm a Platinum Elite member and stay at Marriott almost exclusively when traveling work business or pleasure. This was one of the worst experiences ever (only one worse than this stay was one in Denver last year). The AC was broken in the rooms and it was 85 degrees in our room. We were not told this upon check-in and discovered it once we got to the room. When we went back downstairs to tell front desk staff to tell them the AC wasn't working in our room, the response was ”You and everyone else.” They told me we could have a fan for our room. I requested one be brought up while we went to dinner and was told ask when you get back. When we got back, I asked and they said they would look for one and bring it up. An hour later, I called downstairs and was told there weren't any left. After 3 hours with our windows open in the room, the temperature in our room only went down to 84. At 9pm, we drove to Walmart and bought our own fans just so we could sleep. I believe it was fixed sometime the next day or the day after. I honestly don't know as nothing was communicated. When we went to check out, I tried the AC in our room and it was working. The front desk staff was completely indifferent to any concerns we had. This hotel is in a very sketchy part of town and I honestly was surprised to see my rental car still in the parking lot each morning. The one positive I can say is that the place is clean as we saw so many people constantly cleaning throughout the day to keep it that way. For the amount of money charged to stay here (over $400 per night in late July) this was a terrible experience and I would never stay at this hotel again.

I usually have a peaceful, enjoyable stay when I stay here, but this time is wasn’t so peaceful. There was a kids birthday party or something going on where there were a lot of rambunctious kids running up and down the hallway, making all this noise during my stay. Not enjoyable at all.

We liked how the room was clean and the pool smelled like chlorine and was clean unlike other hotels we stayed at. But the front desk clerk was very rude. I tried to check in a couple mins early and she only said I don’t see your name anywhere and pretty much only left me an option to leave and come back later. So instead of being friendly she was opposite and made me feel not wanted there. But we stayed anyway. And the breakfast really sucked! COVID made them feel like they can treat people however they want.

This was my first and last time at this hotel. The checkin was easy, the room was clean, but around 9:30 pm I started to try to take a shower. The water would not run warm. We called the front desk who insisted we run it longer. This began a series of calls where the front desk would insist we just needed to run the water longer, and we kept it running. An hour later, at 10:30 pm, maintenance came, agreed our room had no hot water and we would be moved to a different room. We moved — and although the second room smelled like pee, we stayed there because we’re exhausted and we needed to be able to provide good care for a family member with health difficulties. The hour of missed sleep was one I really needed. The pee-room was not great. The breakfast is good. But for the money, I expected hot water with the room. And whatever was causing the smell in the second room is gross.
