We recently came back from 2 week holiday in crete, we stayed in the Eleftheria Hotel from the 8th July to 22 July, this hotel is amazing, food great, hotel spotless, the staff worked hard and made our holiday perfect. There was a free taxi to take you down to the town or if u wished to walk it would take 10-15 minutes. We would like to thank Marios. Viorel, Dimitri and Thias for making our holiday so special you all work so hard also domestic staff We will definitely stay in this hotel again on our next visit to Crete. Thank you so much From Sylvia & Andrew from England. Room 113

We have had a two week holiday here, and while there are some good points to the hotel, there have also been some disappointing elements, which, for us, merited the average rating. Other guests had mentioned the irritating music, which constantly assaults the ears when around the pool side, but this can not be overstated. The constant electronic drum beat permeates every "tune" that plays on a loop, meaning you hear the same music over and over again is tantamount to torture. It proved very difficult to read a book and relax poolside as this noise is played at a volume that overrides normal conversation. In the evenings, this is evidenced by only a small group of people congregating at the bar, as most choose the option of escaping to the local town to avoid the noise. The hotel itself is a lovely modern building set on a hillside overlooking Aghia Marina, which is not a marina as we know it, but a busy seaside resort. It is full of restaurants and offers some good reasonably priced meals with stunning views. The hotel offers a free minibus to the bottom of the hill and a return, but it is often left to the barman to drive the bus! The capacity for the bus is eight people. If more than eight are waiting to come or go, then there is absolutely no bar service while he leaves the bar to drive the bus. The hotel restaurant is unlike any that we have experienced before. All meals are buffet service, including the evening meal. This shouldn't be a problem, but the restaurant closes at 10 am (breakfast) and 9 pm (evening meal) sharp! The opportunity to enjoy a leisurely evening dinner us abruptly stopped at ten to nine, when the staff approaches you and reminds you that the restaurant will close at 9pm. This leaves you with the option of catching the last bus down to the village and either a taxi back or a mile hike up the hill in the dark (there is no street lighting). We had a superior sea view room, which was very nice. However, the sea view was slightly limited due to a large overhang of the main stairwell, which protrudes away from the building, blocking part of the view. We would highly recommend hiring a car. The hotel recommended a local firm who supplied a very nice car at a reasonable price. For ten days, our car cost the same as three or for excursions. This allowed us to explore the lovely island and visit beaches and sites at our own leisure and not to the strict timetable that such excursions set. Would we stay here again? No, but others may like it.

This is a very nice hotel. Should have more than three stars. We were very pleased with the room we had and the food and the friendly staff. Very peaceful and relaxing experience. Thought about giving 5/5, but couldn't decide.

We went half board through Jet2 holidays. We had a Superior room with a garden view. The breakfast choice was wide and great variety each day. With 1 fussy eater, even he ate a huge breakfast. The room was clean and the standard was higher than I thought it would be. Shower in the bathroom was fab. The buffet at dinner was also very good with good selection and really tasty. The hotel is 1km from Agia Marina, which is good as the hotel was quiet and peaceful. The beach is Agia Marina was nice but very busy. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and would return.

We have just got back from a week stay in this hotel as our friend got married in chania. Couldn't really fault this hotel at all was really quiet around the pool. No need to rush down for sunbeds as always some available. We walked up and down the hill a few times but the hotel do put a bus on up and down every half hour in peak times. The cleaners made our room everyday which is brilliant this is obviously optional you have signs on your door. I think it would have been a nice touch to put some water in each room everyday. We visited balos lagoon this is a must visit absolutely stunning. 45euro per person from like 9 till 7 with 2 stops one at the lagoon and another at a beach so worth the money. The boat is huge with a restaurant and a bar on on. Prob was around 2k ppl onit when we went. You won't find a bad meal in crete and they don't shrimp on the portions you are always full! With a raki/ouzo on the house after every meal. You will pay 5euro tax each night you stay at the end of your visit too.

We stayed for a week as family of four and enjoyed our time at the Eleftharia. Check in was simple and the room is clean but basic. All of the staff at the hotel are pleasant and smiley. There’s never a problem getting a sunbed. The complimentary taxi service up and down the hill is a godsend, especially in the summer heat. We realised the hotel is a bit out the way when we booked but it’s a good 10 minutes walk to the nearest supermarket and maybe 20 to the main street in Agia Marina. Our only negatives are that the food was lukewarm at best. On the occasions we were going to buy lunch at the pool bar we decided not to as all the smokers tend to congregate in this area. It might be an idea to have a designated area for smokers and non smokers.

The hotel was lovely and clean, staff where very friendly , especially Thais she was brilliant always smiling nothing was to much trouble for her, and also darius behind the bar, also mini bus driver. So warm and friendly they are both a credit to the hotel. Food was alway good with plenty of choice both at breakfast and the evening meal. Swiming pool was lovely and clean , hotel is up a slight hill over looking the beach and stunning at night eating on the patio area over looking the sea and the other way beautiful olive trees. Would certainly recomend the hotel to anyone.

Hotel is well situated on the hill. Good food served on breakfast and even better on dinner. Swimming pool is ok no problem with enough place. Music mostly Greek played gently. Rooms are clean. The only problem is distance to main road but hotel arranged shuttle small busses. I liked it !

Loved it here. Views were amazing, pool was beautiful. Staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough for you and the extra Added touch of the minibus taking us up and down the mountain at certain times. Enjoyed every second. Pool bar was better for us for food than the restaurant

Two words - Dimitris and Panagiotis. Two superb gentlemen that make great hosts and represent this superb hotel befittingly well !! Dimitris’ Strawberry Daiquiri’s are to die for, ask my girlfriend, she knows ! It is our final night here and have had a wonderful stay. Upgraded to a ‘superior’ room on arrival, very modern, very clean. Found all the staff very pleasant, very helpful. All in all this is a superb location, quiet, up a hill, either 10 minute walk down to the main strip or use one of the hotels free coach shuttles that run on the hour. Pool area real nice, Dimitri’s pool bar well maintained with a good selection of food and drink. Stayed bed and breakfast, terrific buffet style, great selection of savouries and sweets. Could go on and on really. We’re booking to come here again, 10/10 !!

Just home from a super week at the Eleftheria. We had a room furthest away from the reception and pool area, so lovely & quiet with great views of the sea. All the staff were amazing, 2 that stood out were Thais and Ikiss (which I’m sure I’ve spelt wrongly), they couldn’t have done more for us, such a lovely pair. The pool area was lovely, though the step which was broken in an earlier review was still off bounds during our visit. The rooms on the Jet2 website which we booked with, aren’t what we arrived to, but it was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed; though lacked character. The hotel is up a hill, we didn’t walk it as we took advantage of the minibus service which runs every 2 hours. Chania old town is charming and breathtaking taking in equal measures, the bus is €2 and runs every 15-20 minutes, you have to pay the characterful cobbled streets a visit. All in all a memorable stay, we’d definitely go back, but return trips aren’t our thing so likely won’t. 9/10

Arrived early morning, lovely man on reception welcomed us to the Hotel, went to our room, it was spacious and comfy, we had 116 asked for a sea view room, we got one. Breakfast was really good, lots of choice, loved sitting outside. All the staff were lovely and friendly. Nothing was a problem. Pool area was nice, plenty of sun beds. We had 10 Lovely nights there . Yes there’s a hill but it’s doable. There’s a Mini bus you can book if needed. Went there to celebrate my birthday. Just booked to go back next year.

This was a last minute booking and our original choice in Chania was no longer available. How lucky we were! The hotel is situated on a hill overlooking Aghia Marina. There are 3 buildings and we were in the one furthest from reception. The room was spacious and very clean. Plenty of storage space, big shower with constant hot water, fridge, sink and hob (we didn't use), large comfortable bed, and a safe available for a small fee. We were on the ground floor so had a patio area. Large TV and good Air Conditioning. The grounds are well looked after, plenty of trees and flowers etc. The main block houses reception, dining room and access to the bar and pool area. We booked for b&b but evening meals are also available. The breakfast was plentiful and varied, offering cold meats, cheeses, salad, several types of bread, pastries, cereals, eggs etc. 4 types of fresh fruit juices and 2 coffee machines, ensuring there wasn't a massive queue for drinks in the morning. There is a nice sized pool with a bar which, as far as I could tell, was open from just after breakfast until late evening. All the staff we encountered were very welcoming and happy to deal with any questions we had. The hotel is about a 15 minute walk down to the seafront, it is a pleasant walk along a twisty road with lovely views of the olive groves, mountains and sea. The walk back is a bit more challenging, especially when the weather is hot. The hotel offers a minibus service to and from the seafront, it runs every couple of hours and has to be booked, you only have to give 5 minutes notice so this wasn't an issue.

The hotel is up a hill with some stunning views but could be scary/put you off if it weren't for the highly efficient mini bus transfers that run several times a day down into the resort. We only booked for breakfast and am pleased as the food wasn't amazing sadly. We had a room at the rear of the low rise hotel with great views across to the sea. It was a good size but could do with a refurbish. The aircon worked like a dream thankfully as it was rather hot at night. We had to ask for a kettle which was supplied the following morning, but no tea bags coffee etc. We had taken our own so that really wasn't a problem. The bathroom was clean but dishevelled...the shower curtain had seen better days. There was always room for the 4 of us to sit together around the pool which was kept very clean. One of the steps was broken and wasn't repaired whilst we were there. The bar man and lady were both very friendly and served us with a smile, the food was quite reasonable and the drinks prices were not too bad. Pool/beach towels were available at reception for 1 euro a day. All in all not too bad a place if you want somewhere to sunbathe and lay your head. Lots of great restaurants in the old town.
