How to Travel Between Tianfu Airport and Shuangliu Airport

The airports are separated by a considerable distance, so allow enough time for the transfer.

By Metro

Route:

  1. From Tianfu Airport, follow signs to Metro Line 19.
  2. Board a train toward Shuangliu Airport Terminal 2 East.
  3. Get off at the Terminal 2 East station.

Pros: (1) Excellent location, right on Chunxi Road, with a direct shuttle service from the hotel to the Panda Base. (2) The staff were very friendly and even gave small gifts to the children. (3) The package deal offered great value for money. Cons: During my stay at the hotel, I constantly suffered from rhinitis and skin allergies. Both issues resolved immediately after checking out/changing hotels, suggesting that the room's cleanliness needs significant improvement.

Not to sound exaggerated, but Grand ParcVue Hotel is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Having travelled to many countries and stayed in different types of hotels, I would rank the overall experience and service here among the top tier. I stayed in a Deluxe King Room for 3 days and 2 nights and was already impressed upon arrival. I checked in at around 1am and was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff before being assigned a room on the 23rd floor. There was a slight unpleasant smell in the room, possibly coming from the kitchen, but it wasn't a major issue as I could close the doors to prevent it from coming in. I bought an air freshener myself, and what impressed me was that the manager came personally the next day to check on the situation and even provided an air purifier. The breakfast was another highlight. I enjoyed trying the local dan dan noodles, and I noticed many international guests from Korea, Japan and Western countries. The dining hall staff were all friendly and professional. The gym on the 6th floor was also surprisingly well-equipped, with a good selection of dumbbells and machines for a full-body workout. Even more impressive was the Relaxation Room on the 7th floor, where guests can enjoy several massage chairs 24 hours a day. There is also a Business Lounge on the same floor, which is a great place for meetings, conversations or simply getting some work done. The hotel is also directly connected to Yanlord Mall, so you will never have to worry about finding restaurants or shops. Do note that it is a high-end mall, so food there can be relatively expensive. One thing I particularly appreciated was the hotel's hospitality even after checkout—I was offered access to the Business Lounge on my final day so I could conduct my online classes comfortably before heading to the airport. Overall, I had an excellent stay at Grand ParcVue Hotel. The combination of great facilities, convenient location and, most importantly, genuinely attentive service made this stay memorable. I would have no hesitation booking this hotel again if I return to Chengdu. **Highly recommended!**

🍬 Location: At first, I thought Taikoo Li was right downstairs, but it's actually a few hundred meters from the nearest metro station (Tianfu Square). Normally, it wouldn't be considered far. But since I'm pretty lazy, I only took the metro on the first day to avoid traffic—after that, I just took cabs everywhere. 🍬 Ambiance & Facilities: Everything was very clean and quiet, from the 1st-floor lobby and the 8th-floor check-in area to the pool/gym on the 10th floor and the guest room floors. 🍬 Overall Service: Every staff member I encountered was extremely pleasant, including the 1st-floor concierge, who provided top-notch service. 🍬 Sleep Quality: I absolutely loved the bed and pillows; I slept great every night. There was zero noise, and with the curtains drawn, the room was pitch-black even in broad daylight. 🍬 Breakfast: The selection wasn't huge, but the food was delicious.

I was curious about the much-discussed Ritz-Carlton flooring I saw online, so I decided to come and experience it for myself. First of all, the signature elegant vibe of the Ritz-Carlton is definitely there. The overall competence of the staff is acceptable, but just barely passing. Another thing that made me curious: do they only call high-tier elite members before check-in? Is it really unnecessary to contact regular members or guests who don't participate in loyalty programs prior to their arrival? I feel that at the very least, they should ask guests for their approximate arrival time. This would certainly help with room coordination and arrangement. All in all, given Chengdu's relatively weak luxury hotel market, it barely meets the standard. However, compared to properties elsewhere in China, it still has a long way to go in many aspects.

Even without being asked to leave a good review, this is a hotel I’m more than happy to spend time writing about. In terms of human touch and service standards, I believe it outperforms 90% of hotels in China priced over 1,000 RMB (my personal subjective view). My rating for this stay: Solid. The location is indeed prime—Chunxi Road is just a 10-minute walk away. The hotel decor is decent, but it is definitely showing its age, which I must point out. The shower system is very poorly designed, you can tell the TV cabinet is quite old, and the two sofas were not thoroughly cleaned—they really need a deep machine clean. I have extremely sensitive skin; after sitting for just 15 minutes, my body started to itch, and the two desk chairs show years of heavy use. The texture of the body lotion can only be described as bizarre—it is completely unspreadable. I was genuinely shocked by how terrible a body lotion could be, leaving streaks of white that just won't absorb. The surrounding street environment is admittedly mediocre, and the uneven paving stones at Evergrande Plaza feel like stepping on landmines, which is a bit disappointing, though completely unrelated to the hotel itself. But! Why do I still think it was worth it? This stay truly gave me a rare experience of the professional caliber of hotel staff in China. When staying at hotels in China, I’ve grown accustomed to encountering clueless staff who act like you owe them money, brush you off with excuses, or put on awkward, fake-smiling masks. However, the service staff at The St. Regis Chengdu are genuinely warm, professional, and sincere. The female front desk agent who checked us in, the young man who helped us move our luggage when we requested a room change, the female staff member who came to our room to assist us (was she Thai, I wonder?), the doormen who assisted us with getting in and out of vehicles and the hotel every single time, and the housekeeping staff whom we didn't cross paths with much but showed great tact and respect for privacy—I could not pick a single flaw! From a service standpoint, I genuinely felt at home, and this kind of service experience is definitely not something faked with forced smiles. Moreover, I must give a massive shoutout to the doorman from Bangladesh: his Mandarin was fluent, his movements sharp, and his service enthusiastic and proactive yet perfectly measured. From the afternoon when we headed out to when we saw him again returning to the hotel at night, this young man maintained his dedication and passion for his work every single moment. I could truly feel his respect and enthusiasm for his job. Thank you to him for ensuring we were in such a cheerful mood every time we headed out to explore or checked out to leave. I also want to thank all the dedicated, sharp, patient, and passionate staff at The St. Regis Chengdu who served us during this trip. My companion and I completely agree that if we visit Chengdu again, we will definitely choose to stay at The St. Regis.

The room facilities were complete, and the hygiene was good. The amenities, especially the toothbrushes, were excellent – it's rare to see bamboo toothbrushes these days. Room service was also very quick. The welcoming uncle at the entrance who helped with luggage was very enthusiastic, with a genuine smile. I hope the hotel continues to treat its staff well. The only thing that could be improved is the air in the room; Chengdu's humid weather can make it feel a bit stuffy. There are also many great restaurants nearby, and transportation is convenient.

The facilities are dated, but the design is outstanding and the aesthetics are definitely on point. The location is convenient, just a 10-minute walk to Taikoo Li. I requested a high floor for the atrium room. We arrived at 2:00 PM and were made to wait for an hour because they said it was being cleaned. Then at 3:00 PM, they told us the room smelled of smoke and reassigned us to a different one. There was no welcome fruit in the room, and the breakfast was quite mediocre. Since it was the National Day holiday, there were many weddings, and you could hear all the commotion outside as soon as you stepped into the lobby. When we purchased the Grand Club access, the front desk didn't explain things clearly. They just said our booking only included one breakfast and asked if we wanted to add another. After adding it, we realized it actually included Grand Club lounge access. When we asked for a refund, it took some back-and-forth, but the manager eventually refunded it. Overall, though, the service attitude left much to be desired.

Ever since I received such warm assistance from the Shangri-La during the pandemic, I've chosen this hotel every time I visit Chengdu. Although the hotel is a bit older, all its facilities are very well-maintained. The gym has a full range of high-quality equipment, and the changing rooms offer both steam and dry saunas, as well as a hot tub, definitely meeting a five-star standard. Towels are always plentiful. Housekeeping is punctual every day, and there's even a turn-down service between 6 and 7 PM. I find the breakfast quite good, with a variety of options including Japanese cuisine. The location is also excellent; for younger, more energetic guests, the Lan Kwai Fong bar street is just 100 meters to the right of the hotel. All things considered, the Shangri-La remains one of the top hotels in Chengdu.

The hotel is located right opposite the terminal, making it a great choice for late-night arrivals at Shuangliu Airport. They also provide a pick-up service. While the room facilities are a bit dated in style, the room is spacious, and you can see that improvements have been made to the original decor, such as adding bedside power outlets. When I arrived late at night, the room service staff, Xiaona, thoughtfully delivered welcome fruits. My request for an ice pack was also promptly and diligently fulfilled, for which I am very grateful! The drop-off service runs every half hour on a loop. Just wait outside the hotel entrance in advance. The driver was very responsible, dropping everyone off at their respective destinations—different terminals, the metro station, or the high-speed railway station—one by one, and even pointed out the fastest routes for us. Breakfast: Semi-buffet style, very satisfying. The freshly made items were delicious and plentiful. Ambiance: I loved the decor; it's stylish, great for photos, and separates quiet and lively areas well. Service: Mostly young staff, very enthusiastic. They proactively provided information and recommended nearby attractions and snacks. I forgot my charger when I went out, and a quick call to service had one delivered. They even gave a small gift when I checked out. I'd say the service details were impeccable. If I come to Chengdu again, I'll definitely choose The House Collective. It offers a unique experience. Plus, they called the day before check-in to confirm my preferences and even upgraded my room. Overall, highly rated. Love it! 💕

Sitting on the balcony early in the morning with a hand-drip coffee, listening to the chirping of insects and birds, was extremely relaxing and pleasant. The hotel breakfast was super excellent, and the Dandan noodles were simply amazing. First off, my room was upgraded from Block D to Block E. While it's a bit further from the Ocean Park, it's still a very short walk. Plus, there's a hotel shuttle that runs between the lobby, Ocean Park, and the rooms, so no matter where you stay, it's perfectly fine. I also chatted with customer service manager Mr. Zhao about a 1-hour late check-out, and that was arranged smoothly. If you're two adults and one child, they offer a complimentary children's breakfast upon check-in, but you'll need to purchase an extra Ocean Park ticket for the child. This time, my kid spent two full days in the water. We checked in at 1:30 PM on the first day, had a quick rest, then changed into swimsuits and headed straight to Ocean Park. We played from 2:30 PM until 7 PM. On the second day, after breakfast, we changed back into our swimsuits and played until 2 PM, then came back, showered, and checked out. I feel like we could have easily stayed another day, as we spent all our time playing in the water and had no time for shopping.

The king room I chose this time had a direct view of the 339 TV Tower, offering a fantastic scenery. The room is spacious, and the bedding features down pillows and duvets just like an international five-star hotel—they are extremely soft, comfortable, and just the right thickness. The bathroom has a wet-and-dry separation layout and also comes with a bathtub, making it very relaxing. The 33rd-floor sky lobby has a very stylish design, and the overall facilities of the hotel are exceptionally well-maintained. The butler provided meticulous and attentive service throughout, and communication was smooth for any request. Amazing stay! From the room, you can directly see the iconic IFS panda sculpture right across the street. Being on a high floor, the night view is fantastic. There's a great variety of options for breakfast, and it's been a long time since I stayed at a hotel that actually does latte art when you order coffee! The room was very clean and the bedding was top-notch. Although it's located in a bustling downtown area, the soundproofing is superb, and the blackout curtains worked wonderfully—I slept like a baby. Except for the car park entrance being a bit tricky to navigate, everything else is a 10/10 💯!

We hosted a business banquet for some clients in Chengdu, with requirements for a downtown location with convenient transportation and high-end standards. We ultimately chose the Chinese restaurant on the fourth floor of the Sheraton Hotel. A few of us staff members from out of town also stayed here. The facilities and service at the Sheraton lived up to expectations, maintaining their consistently ultra-five-star level. The staff in the restaurant, guest rooms, and front desk were all warm and attentive. The banquet was a great success; our clients were very satisfied and felt it was a truly prestigious experience.

During this trip to Sichuan, I stayed at five different hotels in Chengdu, and the absolute best value was this last one, Sofis Jinyuan Hotel. Its 4.9 rating on Trip.com is well-deserved! Located right diagonally across from Wenshu Monastery, the location couldn't possibly be better. Just looking at the exterior, you can tell it's something special—a towering building with luxurious European-style decor. So grand! The twin room was around 38 square meters, very spacious, featuring oil paintings on the walls, clean carpeting, a large bathroom, and an ultra-spacious shower. The best part? It actually had a bathtub 🛁, complete with a disposable tub liner. Soaking in it after a whole day of walking was absolute bliss. The amenities also feel very high-end: TOTO bathroom fixtures, Siemens switches, Daikin central air conditioning, huge elevators 🛗, and marble floors. It really gives you a taste of that state-owned enterprise ”spare no expense” luxury. It used to be a military guesthouse and still has **** facilities, which is probably why it doesn't have an official star rating. Both my bestie and I felt that the environment and service were easily on par with a 5-star hotel. The entire hotel has a lovely, cozy fragrance throughout, and out of the three days we stayed, two of them had wedding banquets. Breakfast is also at a 5-star level. If purchased separately, it's 68 RMB per person. Highly recommend the Dandan noodles—we ate them two days in a row, and they taste much better than what you get outside. My bestie didn't even touch the hot dishes because she was already full from all the local pastries, desserts, and peanut soup. The service was fantastic too—responsive and attentive, with a very warm-hearted butler. We even received complimentary snacks and desserts on our first night. Three nights came out to just 950 RMB, which even included three breakfasts redeemed through my China Mobile Global Pass benefits. It was such an incredible bargain I could almost cry! My bestie kept praising my booking choice. Totally exceeded expectations!

During my few days in Chengdu, Jintou Historic Hotel became an unexpectedly gentle footnote to my journey. It isn't flashy, yet it weaves the essence of Chengdu's effortless comfort—*bashu*—into every single detail. 🍵 Afternoon tea, the prologue to Chengdu's slow-paced life The complimentary afternoon tea provided upon check-in isn't a perfunctory freebie, but a thoughtfully prepared ritual. Grab a seat by the window; the pastries are authentic Chengdu flavors—sweet without being cloying. Paired with a pot of clear tea, time simply slows down. With the bustling local street scenes outside the window and the curling aroma of tea close at hand, I suddenly understood: Chengdu's cozy ease can actually begin with a complimentary afternoon tea. This genuine hospitality is more heartwarming than many paid afternoon teas. 🥐 The breakfast is so delicious, it's a reason to wake up early To be honest, I rarely use ”so delicious” to describe a hotel breakfast, but this place pulled it off. The variety isn't outrageously large, but every item shows genuine care: the hot dishes are freshly made with that authentic wok *hei*, the pastries showcase real craftsmanship, and even the side dishes are refreshing and appetizing. The biggest surprise was a few local specialties—one bite and you can tell they aren't mass-produced factory items. For two consecutive days, I willingly woke up early just for this breakfast. Sitting in the dining room, watching the old Chengdu street views outside the window while leisurely finishing a hearty and comforting breakfast, set the mood for a great day ahead. 🏨 Living up to its historic name, rich in heritage The hotel itself carries the charm of old Chengdu with its grey bricks, wooden beams, and courtyards. It doesn't try too hard to fake antiquity; instead, it preserves the patina of time just right. Staying here doesn't feel like staying at a hotel; it feels like stepping right into a slice of Chengdu's bygone days. The location is also very convenient—heading out for food and shopping, or taking a taxi to attractions, is completely hassle-free.

The facilities and amenities are standard for the Express brand, and they've been well-maintained, not showing the age of a hotel that's been open for 10 years. An amazing, serene, quiet stay like no other. Don't get me wrong. 4 stars for location only because it is a little remote. It was not easy to geta Didi to go there, and we had a bit of difficulty to book a Didi leaving this beautiful heavenly resort. We arrived this beautiful homestay quite late, having spent the day in Chengdu. Didi ride was almost an hour+. Dinner was fabulous - simple, yet complex with mountain mushrooms in a hot pot. Accommodating even though the kitchen was closing due to our time of arrival. This place certainly did not disappoint. From the quietness of the streams, to the beautiful, tranquil rooms and evoked a sense of harmony and serenity with nature, we felt so at home. We basked in silence of the bamboo that spoke to themselves, and the running waters through the gentle streams. Both the service staff (names as shown - in Mandarin) were excellent and they always wore smiles as lasting as the QingCheng mountains. Service par excellence - nothing less. Thank you for taking care of us, with sincerity and gentleness as the mountains itself. A place to remember, and return. Thank you.

Especially since the guesthouse has its own bread oven, so the bread is freshly baked – you know what I mean. I had no desire to go out and explore. Coming from one Hilton to another, it wasn't the easiest transition, but I made it back eventually. I particularly wanted to try out the pool. The smart screen for opening lockers without a key was indeed clever, but also a bit of a hassle. The pool isn't huge, but it's on the rooftop with great natural light, making it a scenic pool with views of Longquan Mountain to the east. The hot tub is in an open area next to the pool, so you can soak while watching TV or enjoying the view. However, when I went in the afternoon, there were kids having lessons, so swimming was pretty much out of the question.

Jianshe Road and Eastern Suburb Memory Park Chengdu|4.16km from city center
I chose the Hilton Chengdu Xiexin again, specifically for visiting the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base. It's only a 15-minute taxi ride to the panda base, which was perfect for an early start to see the famous panda 'Hua Hua' – no need to rush from the city center. The hotel lobby was full of panda-themed decor, with a giant panda sculpture that was great for photos and really set the atmosphere. The rooms start at 42 sq m, offering plenty of space, comfortable bedding, and good water pressure. Overall, it was clean and quiet, set back from the main road, ensuring a good night's sleep. The breakfast buffet had a rich variety of options, including local Sichuan specialties like Dandan noodles, Bobo chicken, and brown sugar glutinous rice cakes (a minor disappointment was missing the mini cheese bread this time). The food quality was excellent. Dinner could be easily sorted at the executive lounge, which also had a wide selection of dishes. Alternatively, you could take a taxi to Jian She Road Snack Street or Chunxi Road, both not far away. This hotel is highly recommended for families or panda enthusiasts who want to combine seeing pandas with exploring the city.

Decided to catch the tail end of the holiday and travel off-peak to Chengdu for a few days; I'm currently staying at another downtown hotel, but Palm Springs was definitely my favorite by far. The location is simply unbeatable—right by the subway station. The staff provided warm and attentive service, and the facilities are great and clearly well-maintained. The ambiance is even better, offering stunning high-rise views, and they even welcomed me with complimentary fresh fruit. Across the street, there are tons of delicious Sichuan restaurants, hot pot, and skewered food (chuanchuan), plus a park right next door. It's all about eating, drinking, taking a leisurely walk, and getting a good night's sleep—the ultimate holiday vibe. The 4th-floor swimming pool has a glass ceiling, so swimming while basking in the warm sunshine was pure bliss. You get to avoid the downtown crowds while still having easy access to the city center. Highly recommended!

Business District/The area around the Twin Towers Chengdu|7.9km from city center
The hotel is really quite dated and the hardware facilities are very old. The room still uses an old-fashioned hairdryer, which has weak airflow and damages the hair. Also, those transparent combs are very scratchy on the scalp and quite terrible—they really need to be replaced. The housekeeping staff were all lovely and had a great service mindset. However, the front desk receptionist at Sunday breakfast gets a thumbs down, and the check-out staff on the first floor also lacked any sense of service; they just took the room card without saying a word and let us leave. It felt so cold and indifferent—I might as well have stayed at the Renaissance. The staff who checked us in gave us complimentary access to the executive lounge, and the bartender was exceptionally attentive. A big thank you again to them. The housekeeping auntie was also extremely attentive. Many thanks to her once more.

The front desk service was warm and attentive; check-in and check-out were both quick, and any questions we had were promptly addressed. You could really feel their thoughtfulness in every detail. The location is excellent, very close to Metro Line 2 and convenient for buses. Kuanzhai Alley is also nearby and within walking distance. There are plenty of dining options in the surrounding area, catering to all budgets. The room was spacious enough, and it came with tea bags, soft candies, and cookies. In the hallway, there were cold fruit drinks and hot coffee available. All the hotel staff were very friendly. The hygiene was good, and the facilities were neither new nor old. The bathroom occasionally had a slight odor, but that's a minor point, and overall, I highly recommend it.

We chose this hotel because it was close to the zoo and panda base, and the receptionist, Xiao Shu, greeted us warmly as soon as we entered the lobby. She gave our child candy and even provided slippers and a children's toothbrush – very thoughtful! This hotel is a hidden gem, tucked away in a quiet spot despite being in a bustling area. There's no prominent sign; you'll know you've arrived when you spot the classic 'No. 25 Huamen Street' logo on the old wooden gate by the road. It's located in the south courtyard of the century-old Ping'an Bridge Catholic Church, a national key cultural relic. The entrance opens into a public coffee shop, and inside, there's an exquisite courtyard with a lush green patio – perfect for Instagram-worthy photos. The hotel managers are polite, enthusiastic, and attentive. The rooms blend classical and modern styles, each named after one of the twelve apostles of Christ, ensuring a fantastic stay. Overall the experience is great, as this is a repeated stay. Krystal, the butler, has been attentive, friendly and will to your every request to make your stay one of a kind experiences. During this time, as China is still currently in winter phase, they are still currently using central heater, thus it make it a bit hard for people who prefer cooler conditions, but do take not that it is not their problems, as the whole of China is doing this. They have been great enough to provide fans to cool down the room and even change a bigger room for me for better ventilation. The location may be a bit outskirts of ChengDu, but everything you would need is in reached as there is mall beside the hotel and another mall not far away. Thus, CYNN would be a recommended choice and my first choice when returning back.

Chengdu Airport Arrival Guide for Filipino Travelers

Filipino travelers arriving in Chengdu should prepare the necessary travel documents and plan how to reach their accommodation before leaving the airport.

1. Immigration and Entry Requirements

If you are entering China using a Philippine passport, check the applicable visa and entry requirements before departure. An ordinary Philippine passport does not automatically provide visa-free tourist entry to China.

Prepare the documents required for your particular journey, which may include:

  • Valid passport
  • Appropriate Chinese visa or other valid entry permission
  • Flight booking details
  • Hotel booking confirmation
  • Supporting documents requested by immigration authorities

Entry requirements can change, so confirm the latest rules with the appropriate Chinese embassy or consulate.

2. Baggage Collection and Customs

After completing the required arrival procedures, follow the signs to baggage claim and customs.

Check the baggage carousel assigned to your flight and keep your baggage tags until you have collected your luggage.

If you are carrying goods that require declaration, follow the applicable Chinese customs rules.

3. Airport Transportation

Before leaving the terminal, confirm:

  • Whether you are at Tianfu or Shuangliu Airport
  • Your hotel's full address
  • Your preferred transportation method
  • The correct metro station, bus stop, or taxi pickup point
  • Your payment method

Having your hotel's Chinese address saved on your phone can be useful.

4. Internet and Mobile Connection

Internet access is helpful for maps, online payments, hotel bookings, and communicating with drivers.

You can arrange a China eSIM before departure if your phone supports eSIM.

Check your eSIM plan's coverage, activation rules, and supported services before buying.

📱 Pro Tip: Get a China eSIM before arriving at Chengdu Airport. Stay connected to check metro routes, book DiDi rides, use maps, and access travel information when heading to your hotel.

Tips for Traveling Through Chengdu Airport

  • Check Your Airport Code: Chengdu has two airports, Tianfu (TFU) and Shuangliu (CTU). Double-check your flight details to avoid going to the wrong airport.
  • Arrive Early: Plan to arrive around 3 hours before international flights and 2 hours before domestic flights. Always check your airline's recommended check-in time.
  • Check Metro Operating Hours: Chengdu's metro does not run 24 hours. Check the first and last train schedules, especially for early departures or late arrivals.
  • Save Your Hotel Address: Keep your hotel's name and address in Chinese on your phone. This makes it easier to communicate with taxi and DiDi drivers.
  • Prepare Your Payment Methods: Set up Alipay or WeChat Pay before traveling. Bring some Chinese yuan as a backup for unexpected situations.
  • Use Official Airport Transport: Follow the signs to designated taxi stands, metro stations, and ride-hailing pickup areas. Avoid unauthorized drivers.
  • Allow Time Between Airports: If you need to transfer between TFU and CTU, leave enough time for transportation, baggage collection, and airport procedures.
  • Stay Connected: Get a China eSIM before your trip to access maps, book transportation, and check flight updates when you arrive.
