Have a long Emirates layover in Dubai? You may qualify for Dubai Connect, Emirates’ complimentary transit hotel service. Eligible travelers can receive a hotel stay, meals, airport transfers, and visa support while waiting for their next flight. Here is how the program works for Filipino travelers.
What Is the Emirates Transit Hotel Program?

The Emirates transit hotel program is officially called Dubai Connect. It is available to eligible passengers with a long layover at Dubai International Airport who are booked on the shortest available connection.
Dubai Connect may include:
- Free hotel accommodation
- Meals based on check-in time
- Airport and hotel shuttle transfers
- A complimentary 48-hour UAE visa for eligible travelers
- Assistance from the Dubai Connect team
To qualify, your Dubai layover must normally be between 6 and 26 hours. Economy and Premium Economy passengers must also meet minimum fare requirements.
Dubai Connect is not automatic. Eligibility depends on your ticket, fare, connection time, visa approval, and hotel availability. Request it through Manage Your Booking at least 24 hours before departure. Travelers who need a UAE visa should apply at least 48 hours before arrival.

Emirates and Flydubai Connections
Selected Emirates-marketed, flydubai-operated flights may qualify when:
- The flydubai flight operates to or from Terminal 3
- At least one part of the journey is operated by Emirates
- The itinerary meets the minimum fare requirements
Flydubai flights operating from Terminal 2 do not qualify.
Economy and Premium Economy Fares
For passengers departing from the Far East, including the Philippines, the minimum qualifying fare is:
Journey | Minimum Fare |
|---|---|
One-way with one Dubai transit | USD 450 |
Return with two Dubai transits | USD 700 |
The amount includes the base fare and carrier-imposed surcharge but excludes government taxes.
Age Requirements
Solo travelers must be at least 18 years old. Passengers below 18 may qualify when traveling with an adult, with a maximum of two minors per accompanying adult.
The easiest way to confirm eligibility is through Manage Your Booking. The Dubai Connect option will appear when your booking qualifies.
How to Book the Emirates Transit Hotel
1. Check Your Eligibility
Make sure:
- Your Dubai layover is between 6 and 26 hours
- You booked the shortest available connection
- Your passport has at least 180 days of validity
- Your ticket meets Emirates’ flight and fare rules
2. Request Dubai Connect

- Visit the Emirates website.
- Select Book, then open Dubai Connect under Travel Services.
- Scroll down and select Book Dubai Connect online.
- Follow the instructions to confirm your hotel.
Submit your request at least 24 hours before your inbound flight to Dubai departs. Rooms are subject to availability.
3. Apply for the UAE Visa
Filipino travelers should submit the required visa documents when the option becomes available. Emirates processes Dubai Connect visas from 14 days until 48 hours before departure.
You may also request Dubai Connect through an Emirates office or the travel agent that issued your ticket. Save offline copies of your hotel voucher, visa, ticket, and booking details.
How to Claim Dubai Connect at Dubai Airport

When you arrive at Dubai International Airport, follow signs for Arrivals and look for the Dubai Connect desk.
Prepare to show:
- Passport
- Boarding pass
- Onward flight details
- Dubai Connect confirmation
- UAE visa, if issued
The Dubai Connect team will check your documents and guide you through the next steps.
You will need to clear UAE immigration before traveling to an off-airport hotel. After immigration and verification, a complimentary coach will take you to the assigned hotel.
The return coach will bring you back to Dubai International Airport before your next flight.
Confirm the return transfer time when you arrive at the hotel.
Dubai Connect Visa Rules for Filipino Travelers
Filipino passport holders generally need an approved UAE visa to clear immigration and use a Dubai Connect hotel outside the airport.
Important Visa Rules
- Your passport must have at least six months’ validity.
- Your trip must continue to another destination after Dubai.
- A confirmed hotel voucher does not guarantee visa approval or UAE entry.
- If your visa is rejected, you must stay inside the airport transit area.
Documents to Prepare
- Color copy of your passport information page
- Color copy of the passport cover
- Passport-sized photo with a white background
- Emirates ticket and booking reference
- Visa for your final destination, if required
- Re-entry visa for your country of origin, if required
- Active email address for visa updates
When to Apply
Emirates processes Dubai Connect visa requests from 14 days until 48 hours before departure. Prepare your documents early and do not wait until the last minute.
Visa approval is decided by UAE immigration and is not guaranteed.

What Happens to Your Checked Baggage?

For Emirates connections in Dubai of less than 24 hours, checked baggage is normally tagged through to the final destination.
This means you may not be able to collect your suitcase during the Dubai Connect stay.
Pack these items in your cabin bag:
- Change of clothes
- Toiletries
- Phone charger
- Medicine
- Travel documents
- Valuables
- Basic sleepwear
- Any items needed before the next flight
Always confirm your baggage arrangement with Emirates staff at your departure airport.
Which Hotels Does Emirates Use for Dubai Connect?
Emirates assigns the hotel based on availability, cabin class, arrival time, and operational needs. Passengers cannot normally choose the property.
Possible hotels include:
- Copthorne Hotel Dubai
- Le Méridien Cairo Airport
- JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai
- Another hotel selected by Emirates
The hotel, room type, location, and star rating are not guaranteed. Check your Dubai Connect voucher or booking confirmation for the final hotel details.

Dubai Connect vs. Booking Your Own Hotel

Dubai Connect is useful, but it may not be suitable for every traveler.
Choose Dubai Connect If:
- Your Emirates itinerary qualifies
- Your connection is between 6 and 26 hours
- You want to save money on accommodation
- You only need a place to sleep, eat, and shower
- You do not mind which hotel Emirates assigns
- You are comfortable using the scheduled coach transfer
- Your UAE entry visa is approved
Book Your Own Hotel If:
- Your booking does not qualify
- Dubai Connect rooms are unavailable
- You want to choose a specific hotel
- You prefer a particular room type or location
- You want more flexibility with check-in and transport
- You plan to explore Dubai during the layover
- Your connection is longer than the Dubai Connect limit
Remember that booking your own hotel does not remove UAE visa requirements. You still need permission to enter the country.
