First, about the pros. The view from the room is gorgeous. To the lake and the mountains. The territory is huge, well-kept. The place itself is very beautiful. Interesting architecture of the buildings with rooms, the restaurant is very stylish.
That's all. I regret that I did not read all the reviews carefully before booking. Because it's all true. I don't understand, does the hotel management not read them or something? I do not give too low marks because the staff is wonderful - the girls at the reception did everything possible to improve our stay. But the room was old, the furniture and mirror were in a strange condition, the smell at the entrance was very sharp and unpleasant. We were offered to change, but that room had no view, and we booked and paid extra for a view of the lake. Later we saw that in our building there were rooms slightly better than ours, but we were not offered.
The hotel is very far away and taxis are very expensive. The name mentioned Ninh Binh, and this was confusing, because we booked very quickly. It's strange that there is no shuttle at least to the sights (even for a fee, but a reasonable one!).
Breakfasts can also be made much better, now there is nothing to eat except eggs and fruit..
I am writing this only so that the management pays attention and this gorgeous natural oasis is brought into line with what is stated in the description.
Room rate is more than reasonable as the room is very big and location is very convenient.
However, would be great if below few minor things can be taken into consideration:
1) Breakfast - both quality and choices need to be improved.
2) Room - no electricity at the electric sockets next to the bed…so I need to charge my phone with the socket under the desk instead.
3) Spa - would appreciate if they can extend closing time to 10pm!
The hotel is clean and quiet, the swimming pool is excellent, the breakfast is rich, the room has a great view, the hotel is in a convenient location, there are ample parking spaces, and the front desk staff is polite and thoughtful.
We have 2 wonderful staff assists and helping us plan our sites visits and meals. Le Tan and Thai Huong went beyond their duties. We have an well rested couple of days, especially from Ha noi. I definitely recommend this hotel to friends and families and likely return to this hotel.
We arranged private transport from Hanoi hotel to Hidden Charm and the transport was punctual (early in fact). Driver was focused and safe.
Check-in at Hidden Charm was a breeze, they served a citrusy warm drink that I enjoyed. Front desk customer service personnel were proactive in suggesting sightseeing spots at Ninh Binh when we asked for suggestions.
Breakfast buffet was pretty standard with western bread options and Asian pho, fried rice etc.
Location wise, Hidden Charm is very near the Tam Coc boat ticket booth and also offers bicycles for us to cycle to Mua Caves and where the Lying Dragon was. At the entrance to Mua Cave, there will be people trying to get you to park your bikes for a fee, typically 5k VND per bike but we found one close to entrance and charged 2k VND per bike.
Our room was at the 7th floor and comes with a expansive view. The bed was comfortable and not too soft. There was also a bath tub for me to enjoy.
At the end of trip, the hotel staff arranged for private transport to the Noi Bai airport at my request. Again, driver was early and ride was smooth. I enjoyed my stay at Hidden Charm and would recommend to anyone who wish to stay in a clean hotel with excellent service.
Emeralda Hotel in Tam Coc is a hidden gem, perfect for a serene getaway. Nestled amidst breathtaking landscapes, the location is ideal for exploring local attractions like Tam Coc caves and Ninh Binh’s lush countryside. The hotel is surrounded by excellent dining options, offering authentic Vietnamese cuisine. The property itself boasts top-notch amenities, including a beautiful pool, a luxurious spa, and well-appointed rooms that blend modern comforts. Whether you’re seeking relaxation or adventure, Emeralda Hotel offers an exceptional experience in the heart of Vietnam’s natural beauty.
This was the most charming accommodation throughout our tour of Vietnam. It was by the road but hidden behind its wall of greenery. Once inside, we were greeted by a spacious courtyard and garden filled with trees, plants, and beautiful rustic furnishings. The privacy it offered was definitely more desirable than other accommodations where their courtyards were open to full public view. In the night, the garden and courtyard were warmly lit and gave a very cozy feel.
Our room was clean and faced the mountains, and it had a balcony with a table and chairs for guests to sip coffee and soak in the view and fresh air.
We reached early and was given an early check-in as the room was available. Mr Xuan (the boss) and Ms Ha spoke very good English so communication was easy.
The location of the villla couldn't be better. To one direction was the nature where we spent the most enjoyable time cycling through, and to the other was a 5-minute walk to town center for numerous shops and restaurants.
The location was convenient, and so were the arrangements that Xuan and Ha made for us. They arranged the day tour to the places of interest that were further away, and also arranged our transport to our next destination. Very much a one-stop shop, very easy and smooth for us. Would definitely recommend friends to stay here
The hotel is located in a remote location, only in step-by-step access to Hang Mua. You can take bikes and get to Trang An Boat tpir. You can reach restaurants, 20 minutes walk.
Breakfast is modest, good fruit choice.
The biggest minus - in the room is poorly cleaned. The floors are dirty, in the bathroom, too dirty. Towels are already used enough. In the ant teapot, the teapot is old and rusty. The refrigerator is very loud, it is impossible to sleep at night. In January, the room is cold and dark.
A beautiful view from an extra room in which it is impossible to be, as it blows very strongly out of the window.
The staff is friendly.
We stayed for two nights. The hotel is quite far out of the town so a taxi is needed to get to any restaurants or shops. The pool was great, clean and a great view. We tried to book a trip to the Tam Coc caves but the staff on reception could only provide a 7 seat car which wasn’t suitable for 2 people and was very expensive. A nice hotel, just a shame about the location and tours available from the hotel.
What impressed me the most was the food at the restaurant and the courteous service of the restaurant staff. I was able to enjoy a satisfying meal at any time of the day at the restaurant.

GGuest Userwhat a wonderful hotel, spacious room with nature decor style, balcony in a garden, bathroom with bathtubs connected to an outdoor shower, dinner in restaurant serving fresh ingredient, vegetable so fresh, breakfast ok, didn’t try bakery cos looks like not so good, may be I’m wrong, spa service super good with very good price, highly recommend, for those love garden, floral and nature, should try this hotel, photos show breakfast

QQhchenGood reviews, smooth check-in, clean and sanitary rooms, complete facilities, a pleasant stay. The noise from the kitchen can be heard in some rooms in the morning, but it basically does not affect rest.
Ppaulrob200Tommy & Lily are wonderfully hospitable. They shared restaurant and spa recommendations and had a nice selection of freshly made cooked to order breakfasts. Rooms had a nice balcony where on 3rd floor you could see tops of rock formations. View from 4th floor terrace was pretty too. The rooms were clean, spacious and water did not take long to heat.
Very convenient location to main street with plenty coffee shops and restaurants close by. Plenty of places nearby to hire bicycles too. All in all a pleasant stay with great hosts.
MMixPlorerI didn’t expect much about the place in terms of amenities and cleanliness but the kindness, friendliness and care I received from the staff were superb. I was there for pure nature, serenity and magnificent views, and boy I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a property perched in the middle of the iconic rocky mountains of Ninh Binh, surrounded by lush greenery and a small river that even had a little canoe next to my cabin. You can just stay at this property the whole day without doing anything special yet your mind and heart still end up fulfilled. Sit at their small cafe while having some coffee or a plate of authentic local Vietnamese food. Just stare at the rice fields or admire the beauty of the lotus on their pond. Have a bonfire at night while listening to their good-vibe music or ask the staff to play your own.
SSIM BEEFirst of all, the place is overated. The fact is, it is a rather ordinary homestay with obvious shortcomings. I was given a very rusty key and the main door's lock doesn't function properly. The toilet seat is broken. The breakfast is mediocre, with only one food item and a drink and no fruits. The perfume smell in the room, and the bed is overwhelming. Last but not least, the owner wasn't very honest. I booked a ”private taxi” to Hanoi airport for 400K VND. On the day of the departure, there was another person with 2 kids in the car. The room is overpriced compared to similar or even better homestays in the area. So, poor value for money in my opinion.
