The hotel was under renovations, so we were transferred to Vang Luang Hotel, which has the same owner. Vang Luang Hotel is conveniently located near several tourist attractions, making it easy to explore the area. The room was clean and spacious. However, there was no telephone in the room, so we had to go to the lobby every time we had a request or needed to speak with the receptionist, and the breakfast options were quite limited. The staff were very accommodating and helpful throughout our stay.
The courtyard was beautiful, and the water lilies blooming in the pond were a delight to behold. Sitting on the room's terrace in the evening, the sounds of fish blowing bubbles and the chorus of insects swept away the fatigue of travel. One night, I was lucky enough to experience a downpour, and the water lilies in the rain were outlined in gold by the lights. The hotel's design was distinctly French, and the facilities were new; I loved it!
One area for improvement could be the soundproofing of the rooms, as the wooden structure sometimes allows noise from neighboring rooms or the outside to filter through. However, this is a minor issue compared to the overall experience. The staff at Ammata Guest House are exceptionally friendly and helpful, always ready to provide recommendations for restaurants, tours, and activities.
A pleasant hotel and very kind, polite and helpful staff. There are some terraces and a swimming pool where you can relax and have great views over the Mekong river. We had a river facing room with a large balcony. The room itself was comfortable and relatively clean and the balcony had a chairs, a sofa, a table and clothes drying rack. The hotel is located a little out of town however, offers a free golf cart service to the night market area and other locations. This service is pretty much on call at anytime - I guess within some reasonable hours. There are a few shops close buy where you can purchase essential items and alcohol. The closest small supermarket is Chinese owned so if you speak Chinese it is easy to communicate; and there is a 7 Eleven store a little further on. A pharmacy is also close by and located between the Chinese supermarket and the 7 Eleven. We didn't use the swimming pool however, it appeared to be well maintained a clean. The breakfast we excellent and multiple choices to suit most nationalities. There is a covered outdoor terrace where you can eat breakfast with views over the Mekong. I personally felt the price was a little too high for the hotel.

This is a budget guesthouse. I initially stayed for one night and then extended for another. It's incredibly well-located, within a 10-minute walk to the Night Market, the main tourist street, and the Royal Palace Museum. The Mekong River is even closer, practically at your doorstep. Being right by the main road, it's very convenient for shared taxis or private cars to pick you up and drop you off directly, which was a huge plus for our excursions! Both the owner and staff speak Chinese and are proactive, willing, and enthusiastic in their service. While the facilities are a bit dated, they are perfectly functional. A notable highlight is the Gree air conditioner in the room, which is very new and works exceptionally well – a feature many other hotels can't match. All the clothes I washed last night were completely dry by morning, making packing and checking out very convenient. However, guests with very high expectations for accommodation standards might find the comfort level doesn't quite meet their expectations.

The boss is very welcoming. It is 100 meters away from the Foreigner Street. It is very convenient to give alms at 6 am right in front of the hotel. The scenic spots are all nearby. It is 30 kilometers away from Kuang Si Falls. You can interact with elephants and watch elephants cross the river to get on a motorcycle 20 kilometers away. There are many ** in the morning market.

Amazing! Highly recommend! If you can stretch your budget a bit, it's definitely worth trying – you won't regret it! All my friends were very satisfied! A special shout-out to the housekeeping staff; they discreetly and proactively cleaned up the wet floor from our swimming. So thoughtful! I was in such a rush when leaving that I didn't get to thank them, but I didn't hesitate to leave a tip at the front desk. I hope the hotel sees this and gives them the recognition they deserve!
Facilities: Very good
Hygiene: Very good
Environment: Very good
Service: Very good
The hotel is a little bit far from Bushi Night because there is a bridge in the middle where cars cannot pass, so you need to go around.
The hotel can ride bicycles for free, but you need to rent a motorcycle, which is very convenient
Breakfast is also OK, one bowl of rice noodles per person, limited, very delicious
There is a younger brother at the front desk who speaks a little Chinese
The environment is very good, the room is also large, it is a bit cold in January because there is no water.
Really great concept for a short stay. The bathrooms are quite rustic but everything was comfortable and functional. Kind welcome and very well located
The hotel itself is quite good, but please be aware that they do not allow date modifications. I placed an order at 9 AM, and because train tickets sold out, I tried to change the check-in date to the next day around 10 AM. However, the hotel refused. I tried contacting them by phone, email, and through the booking platform, but it was all in vain – I ended up completely wasting a day. On top of that, the booking was non-refundable. Everyone should really take note of this.
Overall, the hotel is very nice. The decor has a strong Laotian character, and the rooms are spacious enough. It's conveniently located on a main road. Due to the facilities being a bit old, the hot water faucet was leaking slightly. Additionally, there are no charging outlets in the main room; they are only available in the bathroom.

Great
NNuytsiaFloribundaOur stay had a lot of high points and a lot of low points.
Starting with the high points, the grounds and room were incredible. Our experience at the spa was one of the best we’ve had. The cocktails and Laos-style burger we had for lunch one day were phenomenal. The staff were charming and very accommodating.
However, there were a few aspects that were far below the experience expected of a 5 star hotel. First, cocktail service around the pool was abysmal. On almost every occasion we had to go searching for a staff member to take our order, and then the cocktails more often than not took more than half an hour to arrive. This is despite the fact that we seemed to be the only people ordering F&B at that time, i.e. they were not busy at all.
Second, the breakfast was a disappointment every day - we were told we could order eggs or noodles, and had to repeatedly press the staff to find out what type of eggs and noodles, and we only discovered on the last day that there was a menu with additional options. We ordered poached eggs on toast, and the eggs had not been drained of excess liquid, and the bread was entirely soaked through. An order of waffles took over an hour to come out - first it was delivered as a pancakes, and then they just forgot about it despite repeated follow ups. The “local” Laos options lacked flavor - very little of the herbs and spice that makes Laos food great. I think this and the pool service issue are primarily the result of a lack of training and instruction for staff - they were clearly doing their best, but did not know what to do.
Third, the pool area needs a lot more spent on maintenance. The decking is cracking and falling apart. The mosaic tiles in the pool are falling apart, A LOT of the tiles are missing, and I got a very large laceration on my forearm from the sharp edge of a tile sticking out. If this pool were in a western jurisdiction, it would not meet health and safety standards.
Fourth, the gym was not worth visiting if you want to lift weights. Possibly the worst weights offering I’ve seen for a hotel of that price and with that much space.
We want to reiterate how great and enthusiastic the staff were. I think this is primarily a management oversight, training, and maintenance capex issue.
GGuest UserVery friendly and helpful staff. Everytime I asked them something, they were more than willing to help in anyway they could. The room was lovely and very reasonably priced. The only very minor downside was that breakfast was a little bit limited for someone with quite a lot of food allergies, but the staff could make adaptions to the menu to try and cater for these. Would 100% recommend to anyone staying in Luang Prabang.

Amazing
JJason2023Nice setting with lotus ponds and bridge, lots of trees, flowers, gravel winding paths and hidden seating areas.
The pool is small but had lots of available comfy seating and was very clean.
Breakfast is in a beautiful setting and the service and food were excellent. The menu has lots of options.
Excellent service from reception to housekeeping - the complimentary water, fruit baskets and night time cookies were appreciated.
Free bicycle hire and reception can organise trips.
The location is okay, a 5-10 minute walk to the main area but that gives you an experience of local life as you pass through the narrow streets.
There was some road noise - motorbikes etc but im not sure where you can avoid this in Luang Prabang or even SE Asia. If you are bothered by it, ear plugs will be useful.
No noise from any neighbours.
The room was a good size with a big balcony overlooking the gardens. Lots of stuff provided e.g toiletries, safe, tea, 3 in 1 coffee - you don't need to bring. (Cant remember seeing a razor but tbh hotel ones are never good so i bring my own).
TIP: try not to rely on ATMs here, the charges are expensive. Either bring your own currency and exchange at one of the banks here (i got a good rate) or bring Kip. Many places also accept Thai baht and some US $.
The hotel has water so being mosquito spray (housekeeping also offered this).

AarqueteeWe had a wonderful stay at this hotel—perfect for families looking for comfort and convenience. The garden is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, and well-maintained—our kids loved running around while we relaxed in the serene atmosphere.
The location is great, just a few minutes from the town center, making it easy to explore local shops, markets, and restaurants. Despite being close to everything, the hotel still feels quiet and relaxing.
The rooms were spotless, spacious, and very comfortable—clearly well taken care of. We especially appreciated the attention to detail and cleanliness.
The staff are amazing—warm, attentive, and always ready to help with a smile. They made our stay even more memorable by going above and beyond for our family.
And the breakfast? Simply superb! A great variety of local and international options, fresh fruits, and delicious coffee or tea’s to start the day right.
Highly recommended for families or anyone looking for a cozy, garden-side stay near town!

AAnonymous UserThis hotel is very popular on the internet. It's newly renovated. It doesn't have many rooms, but it's quiet. It's a 10-minute walk to the night market. The hotel provides free bicycles, and breakfast is delivered to your room. There are several different room types. The most expensive villa with a balcony and bathtub is around NT$580 per night, while standard rooms are just over NT$200 per night. It's perfect for a vacation. The only downside is that the shower head in the bathroom is broken and keeps falling off. I changed room types and it still didn't work.
GGuest UserWe loved Ock Pop Top. All of the staff were so friendly and made us very welcome. Especially Mr Duan who helped us arrange a slow boat and Mr Noi and Mr Air who gave my partner lots of tips for local fishing. We only stayed 1 night but we will be coming back for sure. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful. You can learn a lot about Hmong crafts which is very interesting. The food and drink is delicious, I recommend the tamarind margaritas! The rooms are beautiful and full of eco friendly amenities like mosquito spray, shampoo, soap etc and locally crafted decor. The balcony rooms facing the Mekong are amazing. The location is out of the town centre but they offer a free shuttle service via tuk tuk, you may have to wait a while but you can relax in the bar while you wait. The sunset from the restaurant is amazing but be aware that between 5:30-6:30 the mosquitoes come out in full force! Cover up or bring the spray from your room and keep topping up.
WWeaver328442Although this hotel is not located in the town of Luang Prabang, it takes 20 minutes by tuk-tuk (the road is not very good), this should be the most special hotel in the world. I especially experienced the tent room, and it was definitely a unique experience to fall asleep every day listening to the sound of the river. The food in the hotel comes from its own organic farm, and there are many projects to experience. This is definitely a good place to escape from the world. The hotel has a shuttle bus to the center of Luang Prabang.
XXianglingThere are many hotels in Luang Prabang, each with its own characteristics. This hotel was renovated from the former home of the Lao prince. Although there are not many rooms, the public areas are very rich and it is an ideal place for vacation. The breakfast is great, with a Chinese menu. The waiter is very polite and thoughtful. After ordering rice noodles, the chili sauce that Chinese people love is immediately delivered, which really won my heart 🤗. The various breads for breakfast are also very delicious. People who don’t like bread have to eat two pieces every day! The front desk service is also standardized online, and the male waiters are generally more enthusiastic! The room cleaning is very thoughtful and meticulous, at least twice a day, keeping the room clean and tidy at all times! On the first day, the tip was placed on the bedside table, but they didn’t take it. On the second day, it was specially placed on the quilt and taken away. It can be seen that the service training is still very strict! The room is large and comfortable to live in. The bedding and bath towels are very comfortable! Talk about the shortcomings. The room is not very soundproof. The waiter cleans outside in the morning, and the sound is very clear. If you live downstairs, the sound upstairs is very clear. If you encounter people who go to bed late and get up early, it will affect the quality of rest downstairs. Another point is that the hotel does not have a pick-up service. Many hotels will provide pick-up and drop-off services within the town at any time, or even pick-up and drop-off services at the airport and high-speed rail. In addition, the hotel is a little off-site. It takes more than 20 minutes to walk to any place. It is impossible to walk under the scorching sun. You need to take a tuk-tuk every time. The price of tuk-tuks in Luang Prabang has skyrocketed in recent years. Even if you only take a five-minute ride, the starting price is 20,000 per person (about 6 yuan in total), and it is calculated per person. It is more expensive than taking a taxi in any major city in China! When going to the high-speed rail station, the price of the hotel's delivery is 25 US dollars, and I immediately ordered a 99 yuan delivery service on Mafengwo. Except for the fact that I was not satisfied with the trip, the hotel vacation was really good, and I should go there again in the future.
