Trogir Old Town: Croatia’s Ancient Gem 🌟 — traveler post in Trogir

Trogir Old Town: Croatia’s Ancient Gem 🌟

Trogir Old Town is an absolute vibe—seriously, this place is like stepping into a real-life medieval fantasy! 🏰✨ Nestled on a tiny island between the Croatian mainland and Čiovo Island, Trogir is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason. The city feels like an open-air museum, but with way more energy thanks to its buzzing cafes, cute shops, and cobbled alleyways. The town layout is next-level iconic: it keeps its original Hellenistic and Roman street grid, which means you’re literally wandering paths that haven’t changed in over 2,300 years. 🤯 There's history EVERYWHERE—from stone archways to ancient churches, and the epic Kamerlengo Castle just waiting for your Insta stories. Trogir Old Town is connected by bridges, so you can easily stroll to and from the mainland (address: Trogir Old Town, 21220 Trogir, Croatia). It's open 24/7, and most spots stay lively until late—perfect for night owls and early birds alike. If you’re looking for an unforgettable travel adventure, this Croatian gem ticks ALL the boxes: historic, beautiful, and totally photogenic. Don't forget to check out trip.com to score deals on hotels and tours. Trust us—this destination is sooo good you’ll wanna come back again and again! #Trogiroldtown #croatianature #celebratewithtrip

A millennium-old UNESCO World Heritage small town hidden in the Adriatic Sea, low-key yet stunning — traveler post in Trogir

A millennium-old UNESCO World Heritage small town hidden in the Adriatic Sea, low-key yet stunning

Croatia is not just about Dubrovnik from Game of Thrones. Along the Adriatic coast, I discovered a true treasure: Trogir! 🏰 This tiny island town with just over 10,000 residents carries a mysterious name. The entire old town is certified by UNESCO, making it the world’s largest “World Heritage island” museum, yet it’s so understated it tugs at your heart. The moment you cross the stone bridge from the mainland onto the island, it feels like stepping onto a medieval movie set. Founded in the 3rd century BC, it has seen Greek, Roman, Venetian, and French influences, leaving behind an unexpectedly eclectic architectural style. Roman solidity, Gothic spires, Renaissance elegance, and Baroque splendor coexist perfectly in this small town. Every few steps, the scenery changes, and every stone-paved alley is a living architecture textbook! 📜 The old town’s landmark, St. Lawrence Cathedral, took four centuries to complete. Its bell tower soars into the sky, truly the city’s beacon. I climbed the tower to overlook the red rooftops contrasting with the deep blue sea—so beautiful it left me speechless. 🌊 Even more remarkable, the old houses here are all stone-built, two stories high, and many are still inhabited. Grandmas selling handmade souvenirs sit by the doorsteps, cats bask on the stairs, and the atmosphere is so alive it doesn’t feel like a tourist spot but like a lazy afternoon in the Middle Ages. Strolling along the seaside promenade, cafes and restaurants line up side by side. Locals sip coffee while watching the sea, boats drift on the turquoise water, and time seems to slow down to half speed here. Wandering into the labyrinthine alleys of the old town, every corner holds a surprise—maybe a weathered stone carving or a vine-covered windowsill. Every snapshot is an Instagram-worthy masterpiece. 📸 What touched me most was the town’s vibrancy. The historic sites aren’t fenced off but grow naturally with daily life. Children chase pigeons in the square, fishermen cast lines at the harbor, and visitors and residents exchange smiles as if this has been the way for centuries. If you love avoiding crowds and are fascinated by the soul of European old towns, Trogir is definitely worth a special visit. It’s unpretentious, like a pearl polished by the sea for a thousand years, quietly waiting for those who understand it. ✨ Promise me you’ll save a day for it on your Croatia trip?

Taking the early bus, I claimed the whole winter in Trogir — traveler post in Trogir

Taking the early bus, I claimed the whole winter in Trogir

Maybe because it's the off-season in winter and also the Christmas holiday, there are very few same-day round-trip buses from Split to Trogir. In the morning, there's only one bus (less than 40 minutes one way, really close). I went on Christmas Eve, 12/24, and arrived in Trogir before 8 a.m. 😂 The whole city was still asleep. But with fewer people at this time, it was really great for strolling and taking photos!! 📸 The weather was rainy and sunny alternately, which felt quite atmospheric~ Trogir Old Town is also listed as a World Cultural Heritage site. Definitely worth a visit~ Game of Thrones was also filmed here 🎞️ The island’s right-angled street layout, exquisite Romanesque churches ⛪️, and short Baroque-style buildings make the city’s scenery uniquely charming. By noon, the once empty streets suddenly came alive again 😂 It felt like the locals all gathered in the old town, and the Christmas open-air concert began 🎶 Following the music, there wasn’t even an empty table at the venue~ Croatia really suits this kind of relaxed city walk 🇭🇷 You can play wherever you go without rushing to check in. Although many restaurants were closed or didn’t serve full meals during the holiday❗️ We found the simple meals we bought at the supermarket by the pier delicious, especially the roasted chicken wings!! 📝PS!! I didn’t get to go up the bell tower of St. Lawrence Cathedral or Kamerlengo Castle! That’s the downside of coming during the holidays—you can feel the strong Christmas atmosphere, but there will definitely be some regrets. 🌊 It wasn’t very cold in winter either, around 15-16 degrees Celsius at noon, with little temperature difference. Wearing just a sweater, I didn’t feel cold 😂 ⛵️ Half a day here is enough. Since we arrived very early, taking a bus back to Split at around 1 p.m. was totally fine ✌️ 🇭🇷 Croatia · Trogir

🇭🇷 Croatia in 3 Days: Split, Sea Views & a Medieval Town 🌊 — traveler post in Trogir

🇭🇷 Croatia in 3 Days: Split, Sea Views & a Medieval Town 🌊

Croatia surprised me with how much you can experience without constantly changing hotels. Blue Adriatic water, old stone streets, colourful squares and evenings watching boats return to the harbour. 🇭🇷☀️ If I had 3 days on the Dalmatian coast, here’s the itinerary I’d recommend saving: 🏛️ DAY 1 - Split’s Old Town Start early at Diocletian’s Palace, a Roman palace that became part of the living city. Wander the narrow streets, explore the squares and finish with a waterfront walk along the Riva. 🌊 DAY 2 - See Split from above Head towards Marjan Hill for panoramic views over the harbour, islands and cruise ships. Then slow down at the beach or grab a coffee by the sea. 🌺 DAY 3 - Explore Trogir Take a day trip to this UNESCO-listed medieval town. Visit the old town, admire St. Lawrence’s Cathedral and spend the afternoon along the waterfront. 💡 3 TIPS WORTH KNOWING: ✔ Stay in Split and explore nearby towns without moving hotels. ✔ Start sightseeing early, especially when cruise ships are in port. ✔ Try pašticada, a traditional Dalmatian slow-cooked beef dish, and leave time for a sunset harbour walk. My Croatia formula: One historic city + one slow coastal day + one beautiful day trip. 📍 Split & Trogir, Dalmatia, Croatia #Croatia #SplitCroatia #Trogir #VisitCroatia #CroatiaTravel #DalmatianCoast #CroatiaItinerary #EuropeTravel #TripMoments

Forest Park Marjan

Continue walking west along the road outside the St. Francis Monastery building. You will see a signpost for Marjan Forest Park on the roadside. Just go up the mountain. There are few tourists along the way. Many houses along the way can be accommodated. It is estimated that it will be very lively in summer. Although it is climbing a mountain, it is almost stressless because it is a slow walk. It will soon reach the cafe halfway up the mountain. You can overlook the city scenery of Split from the observation deck on the side of the mountain, but the height of the pine trees has obviously blocked part of the view. [Scenery]
