#unforgettabletravelexperiences Located about three hours from Athens (Greece) is Delphi. A fabulous ancient city that is fairly well persevered. This historically significant archaeological site is now run by the Greek government. Delphi was considered 'the naval of the earth', by the ancient greeks. It is situated high above a deep valley and nestled below steep orange cliffs in a stunning position. The site has some iconic and nicely reconstructed buildings; The Temple of Apollo, The Ancient Theatre, The Stadium, and The Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia. One thing that motivated me to visit here were the tales about the Delphi Oracle or the High Priestess. In the Temple of Apollo she provided prophecies while she was in a trance. There were many different Oracles through the centuries and Delphi prosperity grew because of them. People from all over Greece come seeking answers to complex problems. The one thing I did not know about this ancient city before I visited was the Athletics Stadium. This is a huge site that could seat 7000 people and it is built high on the hill hidden behind a small ridge. Here they held Great athletic games. I think the best preserved structure is the Ancient Theater with its many seats which look down the valley and across to the hallowed mountains. #delphioracle #greece #ruins #europetrip
