Food Guide

Jiuzhaigou's cuisine is famed for its unique and varied flavors. Local specialties include yak meat, highland barley cakes, and potato glutinous rice cakes, each embodying the distinct culinary traditions of the region and showcasing the unique taste that Jiuzhaigou has to offer.

In Jiuzhaigou, yak meat is a popular and common meat choice, greatly cherished by the locals. Its tender texture and the diverse cooking methods enhance its flavor, providing a lingering taste experience.

Highland barley cake is made from highland barely (Qingke) flour, shaped into dough, and then baked. The finished highland barley cake has a golden-brown surface and a crisp, sweet taste, making it a common staple in the local diet.

Potato glutinous rice cakes, a local delicacy of Jiuzhaigou, are prepared by steaming potatoes and then pounding them in a wooden barrel until they achieve a thick and sticky consistency. Located in Songpan County, the airport is about 88 km (55 miles) from Jiuzhaigou, roughly a 1.5-hour drive. Regular shuttle buses operated by the airport transport company run directly to the Jiuzhaigou scenic area.

Where to Stay

Jiuzhaigou offers a fascinating scope of accommodation options, mainly in three core areas: Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, Jiuzhaigou Mouth Traveling Passenger Transportation Center, and the broader County area. These regions cater distinctively to the varying needs of travelers and offer unique experiences.

Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area, blessed with stunning natural beauty, provides accommodation characterized by eco-friendly features and proximity to the main park entrances. Here, lodging options often immerse guests in the tranquility of nature, allowing them to enjoy the sounds and sights of the valley without trekking too far from their lodgings. They typically emphasize sustainability and are designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment. The region’s closeness to key attractions like Rize Valley, Shuzheng Valley, and Zechawa Valley makes it a favored spot for nature lovers and photographers looking for easy access to explore these picturesque locales.

Situated near the main entrance of Jiuzhaigou Valley, the Jiuzhai Goukou Bus Station area provides a strategic accommodation choice with its notable connectivity. Hotels here are primarily aimed at tourists looking for convenience with respect to travel inside and outside the park, featuring amenities tailored to assist with transportation needs, like shuttle services to top sites. This area serves as a hub for visitors who plan to explore the broader region or those who prefer staying near transit facilities to minimize travel times within the valley.

For budget-conscious travelers or those seeking more interaction with local culture and communities, the broader County area offers a range of affordable lodging options. This region, slightly distanced from the park's primary tourist spots, provides a deeper cultural immersion, with accommodations often embedded within or near local villages. Staying here allows visitors to experience the daily life and customs of the indigenous Qiang and Tibetan communities, often missed by those staying closer to the main attractions.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Jiuzhaigou is during autumn, particularly from late September to mid-October. This period is renowned for the valley's spectacular display of colorful foliage, with the leaves changing to vibrant hues of green, yellow, orange, and red, creating a breathtaking natural mosaic. The weather is also mild and comfortable, ideal for hiking and enjoying the stunning scenery. Autumn's cool and sunny climate, with average temperatures ranging from 13 to 23°C (55 - 73℉), makes it the perfect time to experience the cultural richness of the Tibetan and Qiang ethnic groups, alongside the natural beauty.

Visiting in spring, particularly in April and May, is also recommended as the valley awakens with lush greenery and blooming flowers, offering a pure and vibrant landscape. The temperature during this season is pleasant, ranging from 9°C to 18°C, which is suitable for outdoor activities. However, it is important to note that the spring season may still be a bit cold, especially in early March, and visitors should be prepared for changeable weather.

Jiuzhaigou travel guide and discussion

Signature scenery: Many travelers describe Jiuzhaigou as a surreal mix of jewel‑toned lakes, terraced waterfalls and alpine backdrops, with Five Flower Lake, Long Lake and Nuorilang Waterfall repeatedly called the must‑see icons. Reflections, water color and overall mood change with light and season, and autumn foliage amplifies the contrasts. Best season and crowds: Autumn—especially mid‑October—is widely praised as the visual peak, while reports also note big crowds handled by efficient queueing and shuttle operations; early entry helps beat tour waves. In peak periods, advance booking is commonly recommended, and mornings can feel chilly even on sunny days. How to tour without rushing: Most visitors use park shuttles plus boardwalks, then walk key segments rather than the entire network; a common flow is top‑down in Rize (Arrow Bamboo → Five Flower Lake → Pearl Shoal) with a mid‑day pause around Nuorilang. A second block for Long Lake and Five‑Color Pond before easing through Shuzheng Valley works well, and many advise not trying to “collect” every haizi. On‑the‑ground tips: Frequent advice includes grippy footwear, layered clothing for fast‑changing highland weather, a light rain layer, water and small snacks. Boardwalks can be wet and slippery after rain, and visitors emphasize respecting the fragile waters and vegetation. Add‑ons and culture: Many pair Jiuzhaigou with Huanglong’s Five‑Color Pool—ride up by cable car and walk down—while noting higher elevation, strong wind and the need to pace yourself. Around Shuzheng, some slow down for Tibetan village scenes and simple local tastes like yak beef and butter tea.

Jiuzhaigou is beautiful! The blue of Jiuzhaigou is absolutely stunning 🌸 Huanglong's Five-Colored Pool is truly beautiful ☘️ #On May 18th, I flew to Chengdu, then transferred to the high-speed train to Huanglong Station. I stayed one night. The next day, I hired a car to visit Huanglong's Five-Colored Pool and Jiuzhaigou.

Jiuzhaigou | The water is blue, unreasonably blue For some places, you might suspect the photos have filters. There is no need to doubt Jiuzhaigou. It tunes the blues and greens to a concentration visible to the naked eye, then tells you: this is real. First, here are three moments that made me stand still and forget to take out my phone. 💧 Five Flower Lake. From 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the sunlight hits at an angle, and the calcified dead wood at the bottom of the lake is clearly visible. The blue seeps into the green, and the green fades into transparency. Looking down from Tiger Mouth, the entire lake looks like a peacock spreading its tail, but you cannot capture it. Photos don't do it justice. 💧 Mirror Lake. Before 8:00 AM, there is no wind. The water surface is as flat as a piece of polished glass, and the reflection of the mountains is perfectly imprinted in the water, making it impossible to tell which side is up. It only lasts for that half hour. Once the wind picks up later, the mirror shatters. 💧 Pearl Shoal Waterfall. This is the location of the opening scene of the 1986 version of "Journey to the West." The water rolls down the calcified shoal and shatters into countless beads. Standing on the boardwalk, the mist hits your face, a refreshing chill that makes you shiver. 🗺️ Route, Y-shaped, go from top to bottom Jiuzhaigou consists of three valleys in a Y-shape. The sightseeing bus is a must, so don't try to save money here. The core logic is simple: take the bus to the top, then walk down. Spend your energy on looking at the water, not on climbing. In the morning, enter the valley and head to Rize Valley (right line) first. Take the bus directly to Arrow Bamboo Lake, then walk down to Panda Lake, Five Flower Lake, and Pearl Shoal Waterfall. Save enough time for Five Flower Lake; this is the place in the entire valley most worth standing still for. At noon, transfer at Nuorilang Center and eat the packed food you brought or simple supplies. Don't spend too much time here. The afternoon light is waiting for you. In the afternoon, walk through Zechawa Valley (left line). Long Lake is the largest lake in Jiuzhaigou; it is open, quiet, and faces snow-capped mountains. Walk for 15 minutes to Five Color Pool. It is small, but its color is the most unreasonable, as if someone poured a whole tube of paint into it. On your way out, follow Shuzheng Valley. Nuorilang Waterfall is wide and loud; you have to shout to be heard when standing in front of it. Shuzheng Lakes stack down one after another. If you still have energy, get off the bus and walk along the boardwalk for a while; if you don't, sit on the bus and watch quietly, and it will still be worth it. 🍲 After exiting the valley, your stomach needs something hot Yak beef hot pot. The broth is made from boiled bones. It is rich but not greasy. The yak beef is stewed until it falls apart at the touch of a chopstick. Dip it in a little dry dipping sauce, and you will be pulled back from that chilly state on the mountain. Look for potato mochi at the small stalls at the entrance of the village. The highland potatoes are pounded until soft, sticky, and stretchy, then topped with pickled vegetable soup and chili oil. The sour and spicy flavor hits you all at once, which is more satisfying than any souvenir. You might not be used to butter tea the first time you drink it. Pour a little bit first, and pair it with a bite of highland barley cake; the salty and savory flavor will go down smoothly. ⚠️ A few non-negotiable truths Book your attraction tickets in advance; there are no ticket windows on-site. During peak season, book three to seven days in advance. This is not a suggestion, it is a must. Do not wear pure cotton. Wear a quick-drying base layer, a fleece, and a windproof jacket. The temperature difference between the mountain and the valley is over 10 degrees. Take off layers when you get hot walking on the boardwalk, and put them back on immediately when you stop. The altitude is between 2,000 and 3,100 meters. It is not very high, but you will be out of breath walking along the Long Lake section. Go slowly, and do not run or jump. The only place to get a proper meal in the valley is Nuorilang Center, which is expensive and requires queuing. Stuff two chocolate bars in your bag; they are more useful than anything else. One last sentence: Your camera can only capture 10% of the water in Jiuzhaigou. For the rest, you have to stand there and take it in with your eyes. Jiuzhaigou isn't responsible for your "check-ins." It is responsible for making you stand in front of a lake, suddenly not knowing what to say, and not wanting to say anything at all. When the wind passes, the water surface ripples, then flattens again. You leave, but it stays there, blue.

We recommend dressing in layers (the "onion" method), such as a long-sleeved T-shirt + a light jacket + a windbreaker, so you can easily adjust. · Footwear: The park is large and requires a lot of walking, so a pair of comfortable, non-slip shoes is essential. · Sun protection: The UV rays are strong in this high-altitude area, so be sure to bring sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. · Altitude sickness: The altitude in Jiuzhaigou is about 2,000–3,100 meters. Most people do not experience severe altitude sickness, but you should avoid strenuous exercise when you first arrive.

Jiuzhaigou | An autumn destination you have to visit, no matter how crowded it is!

It's definitely crowded, but Jiuzhaigou's crowd management is truly impressive 🐮 Besides, for a scenic spot with no real "off-season," you might as well brave the "peak season" and join the crowd 💪 ▲ "Micro-special forces" style: covering 2 routes in 1 day: ★ Around 9:00 AM, queued to enter the valley. Although there were many people, the line moved quite fast (it felt like the tourist army had taken over Jiuzhaigou 😂) ★ Around 10:00 AM, arrived at the right route [Arrow Bamboo Lake] p12.13 (Not enough time, so I skipped the 3 km trail hike down from the Primeval Forest), started heading down 👇 [Five Flower Lake] p1.3.4.5.6.7.11.14 A must-visit in this lifetime! Most of the most colorful scenes in the photos above are from here, and it's also one of the best spots for colorful forests ✨ (Tip: The side facing the sun looks even better ☀️) [Pearl Shoal Waterfall] p9.10 Like pearls falling onto a jade plate, this is a filming location for the 1987 version of "Journey to the West." It looks exceptionally lively and dynamic against the backdrop of the high mountains 💦 [Mirror Lake] The calmer the water, the better it looks, with snow-capped mountains and colorful forests reflected in it. I caught a glimpse from the sightseeing bus when I arrived in the morning, but when I came back, it was windy and didn't look as good 😭 ★ Around 1:00 PM, arrived at Nuorilang Center for lunch (joined the "instant noodle army" sitting on the ground like beggars 🍜. I've been to Jiuzhaigou four times, and here is my advice... — traveler post in Jiuzhaigou

I've been to Jiuzhaigou four times, and here is my advice...

📜 According to an old Tibetan legend, the mountain god Dago polished a precious mirror for his beloved goddess Semo. But the goddess accidentally dropped it, and the mirror shattered into over a hundred pieces, scattering across the valley and turning into the various lakes of Jiuzhaigou. In autumn, when the colorful forests reflect on the mirror-like water, this valley is at its most enchanting — Aba Daily. It took me four trips to Jiuzhaigou to realize that you really don't need to force yourself to check off every single lake 😭🍂. Its beauty isn't about rushing through attractions; it's about catching the soft light and quietly staring at a colorful lake. Autumn is its peak season, but also the most crowded. I've learned the hard way, so here is my personal guide to help you enjoy it 🫶. 🎫 Admission ticket | No on-site tickets available; booking is mandatory. Peak season (April 1 – November 15) admission is 190 + sightseeing bus 90, totaling 280/person; off-season total is 160. There are no on-site ticket windows! The only channel is the WeChat mini-program "Jiuzhaigou Tourism Official Platform." Be sure to book your tickets with your real name 7–14 days in advance. 🍂 Autumn timeline | Time your visit right—not too early, not too late. The forests only start turning light yellow at the end of September. The golden period is from mid-to-late October to early November, with October 15–November 5 being the best time. The mountains are a tapestry of red, yellow, and orange, and the lakes are a crystal-clear blue-green, creating incredible depth. September is just early autumn; for vibrant colorful forests, aim for late October. 🗓️ One-day route from my four trips | Save your energy for the highlights. Try to enter the park before 7:30 AM to catch the first sightseeing bus. The park is Y-shaped, and the buses are routed accordingly. Prioritize the right branch, Rize Valley, where the autumn forests are densest. It's worth saving most of your energy for this area. ▫️ Right branch (The most important part 🍁) Get off at Arrow Bamboo Lake and walk slowly to Panda Lake. The lakes along the way paired with the colorful forests create an incredible atmosphere → Five Flower Lake, widely considered the best of Jiuzhaigou! The reflection is stunning on a windless morning. You must visit the Tiger Mouth viewing platform for a panoramic view → Pearl Shoal Waterfall, a filming location for "Journey to the West." The water flows like white silk spread out; don't skip it just because you've seen other waterfalls. ⚠️ There is no sightseeing bus stop at Pearl Shoal; you need to walk one kilometer to the vicinity of Mirror Lake to catch a bus. ▫️ Left branch (Optional, no need to force it 🌊) Long Lake, the highest and largest lake in Jiuzhaigou, looks great with the snow-capped mountains in the background → Walk 800 meters forward to Five-Color Pond. The pond isn't large, but the water color is a gradient of blue and green, which is far more stunning in person than in photos. There are no bus stops for the Upper and Lower Seasonal Lakes, and it's a 3-kilometer walk round trip. It's not worth the effort, so just skip it. ▫️ Middle branch (A leisurely finish 🌿) The stretch from Rhinoceros Lake to Shuzheng Lakes is the essence of the middle branch. I recommend walking this section; the reflections of the colorful forests on the shore are gentle and healing. Stop by Nuorilang Waterfall along the way; 20 minutes is enough. 👔 Clothing tips | Don't just bring short sleeves! The temperature difference between day and night can exceed 10°C. It's about 10–18°C during the day and can drop to around 5°C in the early morning and evening. Outfit formula: Quick-dry long-sleeve base layer + fleece liner + waterproof shell jacket. Take it off to take photos when the sun is out, and put it back on immediately after. Shoes must be non-slip and waterproof! The boardwalks are damp year-round, and white sneakers will be ruined after one trip. Raincoats are much better than umbrellas; the boardwalks are narrow, and umbrellas can easily block others and the view. 💡 Honest advice from my four trips: 1️⃣ I don't recommend staying in Jiuzhaigou County; it's 40 kilometers away from the scenic area, making the commute a hassle. Prioritize staying in Zhangzha Town or Pengfeng Village at the park entrance; it's a ten-minute walk to the main gate. 2️⃣ Food inside the park is expensive and mediocre. Carry some snacks and dry food with you. After leaving the park, go back to Zhangzha Town for yak meat hot pot; it costs about 40+ per person and is authentic and cost-effective. 3️⃣ Don't touch roadside low-price transfers or unlicensed taxis! The ticket package already includes the official sightseeing bus, which can take you directly to all core attractions. 4️⃣ The UV rays on the plateau are very strong; even on cloudy days, don't skip sunscreen and a hat with a strap. 5️⃣ Don't try "special forces-style" hiking; you'll easily hit 20,000 steps. Combining the sightseeing bus with short walks is the most comfortable way to explore. Having visited this valley, formed by the fragments of a precious mirror, four times, I am still speechless and stunned every time I see the colorful water of Five Flower Lake, the flowing white waterfalls of Pearl Shoal, and the reflections of the colorful forests on Rhinoceros Lake 😭🍂. You don't need to be greedy and see every single lake. Pick a good time, really enjoy a few spots that move you, and leave the rest of the time for just daydreaming 🫶. If you're planning to go, save this now 📌 and catch the last window for the colorful forests in November!

Jiuzhaigou status as of Nov 4, think twice if you're planning to come, friends

I learned the hard way before. I thought it would be less crowded in the off-season, but the lines were still exhausting. The leaves fall quickly, and it occasionally snows on the mountain. If you don't take the right route, your legs will be shot in a day. Follow this guide to make it much easier. 🍁 Colorful Forest Timing & Scenery 🔺 The tail end of the colorful forest is in early November. The leaves fall fast, and snow can start anytime. Don't delay if you want to see it 🔺 It's okay in the sun during the day, but it's near freezing in the early morning and evening. Light snow is common in high-altitude areas 🔺 The reflections in the lakes are best in the morning. When the wind is calm, the water is still, making for clean shots 🎒 Packing List ✔️ Quick-dry base layer plus fleece, with a light down jacket or windbreaker on the outside. Bring a hat, scarf, and gloves ✔️ There's frost and dew on the boardwalks in the morning. Wear non-slip, waterproof hiking shoes; sneakers or canvas shoes are easy to slip in ✔️ Carry a raincoat. The weather in the mountains changes quickly, and umbrellas are inconvenient on the boardwalks ✔️ Bring a thermos with hot water, plus some chocolate, beef jerky, and self-heating rice meals. Food options in the scenic area are limited and pricey ✔️ Bring a power bank, tissues/wet wipes, and trash bags. Phones lose battery quickly in low temperatures 🚌 Sightseeing Route 👉 Enter the valley and take the sightseeing bus to the left line (Long Lake) first. The lighting is better in the morning, and the Long Lake viewing platform is great for shooting snow mountain reflections. Walk from Long Lake to Five-Color Pond, then take the bus back to Nuorilang immediately. Don't linger on the left line 👉 Transfer to the right line to visit Arrow Bamboo Lake and Panda Lake. Follow the boardwalk to Five-Flower Lake. Be sure to walk around the entire lake; the water color looks different from different angles. It's the place most worth spending time at all day 👉 Finish up with the middle line in the afternoon. Just choose one between Rhinoceros Lake and Tiger Lake. Go up to the viewing platform at Shuzheng Lakes for an aerial view; the colorful forest against the blue water looks much better from above than from eye level 👉 In the off-season, the Primeval Forest and Swan Lake on the right line might be closed. Check the actual opening status before you go so you don't waste a trip ⚠️ Tips to Avoid Pitfalls 1️⃣ Get your admission tickets and sightseeing bus tickets through official channels before you leave. Go in with the first wave of visitors; following the crowd flow is actually smoother 2️⃣ There's frost and residual snow on the boardwalks. Watch your step, don't climb over railings to get close to the water, and be careful as the stone paths are slippery 3️⃣ You don't have to stop at every spot. Save enough time for Five-Flower Lake and Shuzheng Lakes, and pick and choose the others you like 4️⃣ Don't wash your hair or take a shower on the first night you arrive. The altitude isn't extremely high, but taking it easy is safer 📸 Photography Tips ✔️ Try to shoot reflections in the morning when there's no wind. The boardwalk on the right side of Five-Flower Lake offers a comfortable perspective ✔️ Bright-colored scarves contrast well with the colorful forest for photos. Off-white or caramel colors also look great ✔️ Don't trust people on the side of the road in the scenic area who claim they can take you on a shortcut. It's safer to follow the official scenic route

Venturing into Zhongcha Valley, the "Little Switzerland of Western Sichuan," nestled behind Jiuzhaigou, was something I'd been longing to experience, all for the chance to witness Jiuzhaigou's annual colorful forest season with my own eyes.

Nestled behind Jiuzhaigou, in what's known as "Little Switzerland" in Western Sichuan, Zhongchagou has been a long-awaited destination. I've been dreaming of catching Jiuzhaigou's annual autumn foliage season 🍁, eager to witness firsthand the breathtaking beauty of autumn colors painting the mountains and lakes. 🗓️Day 1: Arrival & Stroll through Zhongchagou Arriving at Huanglong Jiuzhaigou Station by high-speed train, I transferred to a bus and entered the tranquil Zhongchagou. I discovered that Jiuzhaigou offers more than just vibrant lakes; this place holds another layer of rustic poetry. Snow-capped peaks loom in the distance, and colorful forests unfold in layers along the slopes. Snow-capped mountains, pine forests, meadows, and wooden houses—every snapshot feels like a scene from Switzerland. I booked a secluded mountain resort. It boasts a natural wabi-sabi style, incorporating Tibetan elements. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the mountain views directly into the rooms. The rooms feature smart home technology, underfloor heating, private hot springs, and outdoor courtyards. After settling in, I strolled along the valley paths while the sunlight was still on, feeling like I'd stepped into a fairytale – absolutely breathtaking. Back at the resort in the evening, a warm yak hotpot, felt incredibly soothing and healing, as if every pore was opening up. 🗓️Day 2: A whole day dedicated to Jiuzhaigou. I booked a private car from the resort to take me to the entrance of the valley – quick and hassle-free. Walking slowly along the boardwalk, colorful forests layered over azure lakes, like a flowing oil painting, each lake breathtakingly clear. As dusk fell, I leisurely returned to the resort. 🗓️Day 3 Wake up naturally and return home at a leisurely pace. Sleep in comfortably, enjoy a hearty breakfast, Sunbathe on the estate's terrace, and have afternoon tea. Or try your hand at sutra copying, Tibetan clothing, making your own Tibetan incense, or Thangka painting. Pack your luggage and conclude your comfortable three-day, two-night vacation. 🎟️ Admission: Free 🐎 Horse riding: 15 minutes 100 RMB, 30 minutes 200 RMB, 1 hour 300 RMB 📸 Photo opportunity with lambs and yaks: 10 RMB ⏰ Duration: Approximately 3 hours

Shenxianchi Tourist Scenic Spot

I highly recommend this scenic area; it's just as good as Huanglong, but the altitude isn't too high, so there's no risk of altitude sickness. You can get up close to the travertine pools, and the scenery is absolutely stunning! A hidden gem!

Jiuzhai Beautiful China Resort

We stayed at the Hilton Hotel and passed by the town visitor center. The front desk lady gave us a free guide map and patiently introduced the experience activities in the resort. She also let us take a free shuttle bus to Zhongchagou. We went to the Tibetan family to drink tea and ride horses. Life was so comfortable that my friends didn't want to leave. In the evening, we danced on the bonfire and visited the museum by the way. The exhibits inside were so shocking, especially the embroidery exhibits of the intangible cultural heritage master Mr. Yang. I really recommend it. There are so many activities.

Nuorilang Waterfall

Nuorilang Waterfall in Jiuzhaigou is the scenic area's "face," situated at an altitude of 2365 meters. With a width of 270-300 meters and a drop of 24.5 meters, it is currently the widest known high-altitude travertine waterfall in China, earning it the title of "China's No. 1 Waterfall." "Nuorilang" means "male god" in Tibetan, symbolizing grandeur and magnificence; therefore, locals also regard it as the "most magnificent waterfall." The surging water pours down from the Nuorilang Lakes, splitting into countless streams at the top, resembling a silver river cascading down from afar; mist rises from the valley floor, and rainbows are often seen arching across the surface at dawn. Four Seasons to See - Spring: Abundant water, lush greenery, vibrant life. - Summer: Maximum water volume, roaring through the valley, countless silver beads of water. - Autumn: Surrounded by colorful forests, red and yellow intertwine, the richest color palette. - Winter: Waterfalls freeze into giant ice curtains, forming the "Blue Ice" spectacle of Jiuzhaigou. A must-see in Jiuzhaigou is Nuorilang Waterfall. Standing on the viewing platform, you can get a panoramic view of "the widest travertine waterfall + rainbow + spectacular photos of the four seasons." Suitable for photos in the morning and all year round.

Five Flower Lake

Five-Flower Lake, at an altitude of 2462 meters, is 450 meters long, 313 meters wide, and 9 meters deep. It is a barrier lake formed by a landslide and debris flow blocking a former glacial valley. Five-Flower Lake is the most colorful lake in Jiuzhaigou. The travertine, algae, aquatic plants, and dead trees on the lakebed, under different reflections and refractions of light, combined with the reflections of the blue sky, white clouds, green grass, and verdant forests in the lake, create a tapestry of colors—from pale yellow and emerald green to dark green, sky blue, deep blue, and navy blue—resembling a giant ornament inlaid with countless gemstones, shimmering and magnificent. Viewed from above, it resembles a peacock spreading its tail feathers.

Jiawuhai Giant Panda Conservation and Research Park

When I first arrived, I was disappointed; it looked like a run-down little park, and there weren't many people. But once I started walking along the forest trail, I was pleasantly surprised. The water features couldn't compare to those in Jiuzhaigou, but the forest trail was very comfortable, and I saw many plants and mosses I'd never seen before… I even spotted a sneaky, chubby weasel! 😁 I recommend setting aside half a day for a visit. There are fast and slow charging stations.

Long Lake

Opposite the lake, snow-capped peaks, cirques, "U"-shaped valleys and other typical glacier landscapes are vividly visible. The banks are covered with lush trees and leaves. At a glance, the water is like a mirror, and the towering snow-capped peaks are bathed in the blue sky and white clouds, which is spectacular and beautiful. This lake area has a large surface area, but there is no surface outlet. The water does not overflow the embankment during heavy rains in summer and autumn, and does not dry up during long droughts in winter and spring. The Tibetan people praise it as a "treasure gourd that is never full and never leaks."
