Spent a 21℃ summer in Wulong, leaving my soul in the breeze of a 17-km meadow
🍲 First meal in Shanghai? This is the one to book. As a "special forces" tourist in Shanghai, I was recommended this Chongqing Gao Lao Jiu by a local friend. They said it's the authentic flavor at Songjiang Wanda that's worth the wait in line. The place is super photogenic and has such a vibrant atmosphere; I was drawn in by the Chongqing "Jianghu" vibe the moment I walked in. It's very different from the old Shanghai spots I've been going to since high school~ The only downside is that the lighting is a bit too warm/yellow, which can make your skin look yellow in photos, so I recommend bringing a flash to fill in the light📸! Enough talk, let's get to the main dishes! 🐸 Bullfrog and mushroom soup hot pot So generous! Four plump, meaty bullfrogs are in the pot, and the tender legs fall right off the bone with just a nibble. 🫔 Tofu skin wontons Thin skin and big filling! The outer layer is tender tofu skin wrapped around a fresh meat filling; just boil it in the pot until it's translucent and it's ready to eat. Soft, chewy, and juicy—"delicious" doesn't even begin to describe it😋! 🐙 Squid Snappy and super thick! The red oil from the spicy pot seeps into every crevice, and when you pop it in your mouth with that spicy aroma, it's so good it'll make you cry! A crispy, tender choice that's definitely worth ordering twice when you're traveling~ 🐟 Filefish Nailed it! There's only one main bone in the whole fish. Dip the thick meat in the dry spice mix and swallow it in one bite—firm, plump, and not dry at all. It's absolutely top-tier. It's super easy to eat after boiling, even for someone like me who's picky about fish bones🐟✨. 🍍 Super pineapple tea The cup has such a street-style vibe! The freshness of the pure pineapple pulp hits the lemon slices—sweet, sour, and instantly refreshing. It's the perfect match for spicy hot pot🍍. It's on the 3rd floor of Songjiang Wanda Plaza! It's best to get a queue number online first, unless you get there before the dinner rush. Over 40 gourmets, food critics, and senior media professionals attended by invitation, arriving at the authentic taste of a Chongqing summer in every lingering bite. The venue featured no screens or projections and no complex interactions, pouring all the refinement into the plates. The space was set in black and gold, with curtains draped from above, while candlelight and crystal chandeliers intertwined to create a deep, warm atmosphere. This is the philosophy Chuanshang has upheld since its relaunch: · et the visual serve the palate, and let the sense of ritual serve focus. The food itself became the sole focus throughout the evening. 🍃 Eating in season, turning local flavors into poetry. Executive Chef Charlie Yang Caihong draws inspiration from the vibrant street life, reinterpreting ordinary flavors with more exquisite ingredients and techniques. The light pink "rouge" steamed bun, made with dough naturally kneaded with fresh amaranth, gently opened the summer banquet with the flavors of the mountain city. 🔥 A charcoal-grilled hidden menu item. Paying tribute to the 20-year dedication of the local snack artisans on Chunsen Road— Dadong's "Crispy but not greasy" roast duck was sliced on-site, its golden, crispy skin wrapped around soft, glutinous rice and garnished with sugar and sesame seeds. The charred aroma of the fat and the subtle sweetness of the rice were released in layers, condensing the warm, authentic flavors of memory into a single bite. 🍇 Mountains and rivers in a glass, flavors defined. Chuanshang Chief Sommelier Bara Tao Xiaoxia outlined a complete sensory journey with 6 fine wines from the Western regions. From the crispness of Puchang Rkatsiteli to the mellow richness of Tiansai T95 Marselan, the 6 wines progressed layer by layer, bringing the terroir of the mountains and rivers into the glass and the diverse flavors of Chongqing to the table. 🌿 A promise of a banquet, the "taste" continues. This was not the end of a dinner, but another firm step forward for Chuanshang in its mission of "new expressions of local ingredients." In an era of noise and transience, Chuanshang has chosen a quieter path— keeping the spotlight away from the clamor and letting the plate return to the ingredients themselves.
