If you adjust your expectations and treat it as a place to zone out and relax, you'll have a better experience 💧The water caltrop flowers in early April were not yet in full bloom, but I was lucky to encounter a few scattered ones. The full bloom should be in July and August 💧The drive from Lijiang to Lugu Lake takes 4 hours. We chose to join a tour group. The 2-day tour from the old town to Lugu Lake costs about 200-300 yuan, with different types of vehicles. 200 yuan is for a bus, and 300 yuan is for a business vehicle 💧I still recommend joining a tour group. Although it's inevitable that there will be shopping stops, just don't buy anything. It's more reassuring to have someone explain some precautions when visiting places where ethnic minorities live. Moreover, the price of a 2-day tour is more cost-effective compared to going by yourself, and I don't recommend a one-day tour as it's too rushed 💧The general itinerary should be similar: viewing platform—Lover's Beach—pig trough boat ride—bonfire party—sunrise—Walking Marriage Bridge—Caohai; if you drive yourself or go on your own, the arrangement is roughly the same. The road to Lugu Lake is not easy to drive, with many twists and turns. It's not recommended to drive yourself if you have never driven on mountain roads. The guide said that a highway is under construction and it should be completed in about 4 years, which will shorten the travel time then 💧There are quite a lot of seagulls at Lover's Beach, mainly because there are fewer people and it's quieter. The docks at Dianchi and Erhai Lake have several times more people than seagulls 💧I really like sitting by Lugu Lake and listening to the sound of the water. For friends who drive or go there on their own, if you have extra space for luggage, I highly recommend bringing a small camping stool and finding a beach to sit and daydream by Lugu Lake 💧At the bonfire party, the Mosuo people sing and dance. Although I don't understand the language, there is a vivid vitality that is inexplicably moving, and it feels like the livor mortis has faded a lot 💧We stayed in Xiaoluoshui Village, which is at the border of Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. I saw that many people who go there on their own book their homestays in Daluoshui, which might be similar. Although the temperature of Lugu Lake is the same as that of Lijiang, it feels much colder than Lijiang. There are no pharmacies or clinics in the village, so it's a good idea to bring some cold medicine 💧The hotel we stayed at was by the lake. When I opened the curtains, I could see Lugu Lake. The first day we went there was cloudy and it rained a bit. I didn't have much hope for the sunrise, but I was lucky to catch it. If you book accommodation on your own, I suggest staying by the lake so you can watch the sunrise from your room

Lugu Lake (泸沽湖） it was a far way to arrive there from Lijiang ancient town. I only remembered I was sleeping all way through, but every time I woke up, we hadn’t arrived🥲 climbed 5 mountains, took 4 hours, we finally arrived Lugu Lake! Pic 1️⃣ on the way to Lugu Lake, we can see Jinsha River(金沙江). Love this turquoise green! Pic 2️⃣-3️⃣ Lugu Lake viewing platform. There was super crowded, I went on the workdays, couldn’t imagine if it is in weekends or holiday... but the most disappointing thing is, there’s a row of trees blocking the view! Very difficult to shoot nice pictures there. So if you are driving on this trip, wouldn’t recommend you to go there to see the view. You can definitely stop by somewhere to get the better views. You won’t get a nice view from room, pointless to waste money.
