Banff National Park, established in 1885, is a core component of the "Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks" World Heritage Site. Located in the central part of the Alberta Rocky Mountains, the park features a landscape of valleys, mountains, glaciers, rivers, forests, and meadows. Emerald-green glacial lakes, like jewels nestled among deep green coniferous forests, are considered the soul of the Rocky Mountains. One of the park's iconic sights is Lake Louise, its waters a unique turquoise green due to glacial minerals. Backed by the Victoria Glacier, lakeside hiking trails lead to mountain tea houses and higher viewpoints. Moraine Lake, with the Ten Peaks as a backdrop, reflects the spire-like peaks in its waters and was featured on the old Canadian twenty-dollar bill. Bow Valley Parkway is a classic scenic drive within the park, often frequented by bighorn sheep, red deer, and other wildlife; a leisurely drive is especially enjoyable in autumn. The Icefields Parkway extends north from near Lake Louise, connecting Peyto Lake, Bow Lake, and other glacial lakes, offering panoramic views of numerous glaciers in the valley. Banff town, located in the heart of the park, is the main visitors community, offering panoramic views of Sulphur Mountain. The Sulphur Mountain cable car takes you to the summit viewpoint, where on a clear day you can overlook the Bow Valley and the distant mountain silhouette. The park also features natural hot springs, a popular choice for visitors after outdoor activity . Radium Hot Springs is located in southeastern British Columbia, Canada, nestled in the dramatic Sinclair Canyon on the south side of Kootenay National Park. The village of Radium Hot Springs is a mountain town of about 1,339 people, named for the trace radioactive elements found in its waters. The springs were originally known as Sinclair Hot Springs, but after researchers from McGill University detected trace amounts of radon (a decay product of radium) in the water, the name was changed to Radium Hot Springs. The springs have long been a place of healing and relaxation for indigenous peoples. The water is rich in sulfates, calcium, magnesium, iron, sodium, and other minerals, with more than 700 mg of minerals per liter. The water is odorless and tasteless and has a striking blue color. There are two main pools here: a hot pool and a cold pool, catering to different visitor preferences.
