Tokashiki Island

Tokashiki Island is one of the larger islands in the Kerama Islands, famous for its crystal-clear "Kerama Blue" waters and rich marine ecosystem. Large coral reefs surround the island, and the diverse seabed topography—featuring hard corals, sea fans, and tropical fish—creates a colorful underwater world that is perfect for snorkeling and introductory diving. The island's rolling mountains, with their mix of forests and steep sea cliffs, also provide many vantage points for enjoying the sea view. The island's two main beaches are both on the west coast. Aharen Beach features a curved white sand coastline, where clear water and surrounding coral reefs create a scenic view, and various tropical fish can be seen in the water. Tokashiku Beach is known for its tranquil bay, white sand, and sea turtle activity, showcasing a natural landscape different from that of Aharen Beach. From the Kubandaki Observatory near Aharen Beach, you can overlook the bay and the blue sea; the Teruyama Observatory offers views of Tokashiku Beach, Aharen Beach, and the surrounding islands. From winter to spring, there is also a chance to see migrating humpback whales in the nearby waters. After nightfall, the island's mountains block out the lights from distant cities, and on clear nights, you can enjoy a starry sky and experience the tranquil natural atmosphere of the island.Tokashiki · 890m from downtown

Kokusai-dori is a bustling street in downtown Naha, approx. 1.6 km long, lined with restaurants, general stores, drugstores, and souvenir shops. The street's name originates from the Kokusai Theater cinema opened after the war, and it gradually developed into a lively commercial street, earning it the nickname "Miracle Mile." You can see Shisa sculptures on the street, and various Okinawan specialty goods and traditional craft shops line the street, showcasing a distinct local flair. Visitors can purchase local specialties here such as Shisa figurines, Awamori, and brown sugar, or enjoy local dishes like Okinawa soba. Every Sunday, vehicle traffic is restricted on some sections of the street, making it convenient for pedestrians to stroll. The street also connects to covered shopping streets like Heiwa-dori, which are filled with shops selling traditional clothing, pottery, food, and local ingredients, continuing the daily commercial atmosphere of downtown Naha.Naha · 32 km from Tokashiki

There are three beaches in Tokashiki Island. I recommend Aharen Beach. First, this beach has a beautiful observation deck where you can enjoy the beautiful sea view. Second, there is an uninhabited island opposite this beach. You can rent a boat to explore the uninhabited island. Third, there is a mysterious beach next to Aharen Beach. If you want a day trip, you can go to Aharen Beach in the morning and go to the mysterious beach in the afternoon. There is plenty of time.

I was stunned because it was the first time I'd ever seen such a beautiful ocean😊 I did some SUP and snorkeling, and I could see the sea turtles and the ocean was emerald green, so I was just moved🥹🥹

"There is a fish in the North Ming Dynasty, and its name is Kun. The Kun is so big that I don't know how many thousands of miles it is. 》In Japan, every year from December to January, a magical animal will travel south from the waters of Alaska in the north to the offshore waters of Okinawa to breed offspring - whales. The best place to see them is the Kerama Islands in Okinawa. In the hot summer, people dive in Okinawa, and in late autumn they listen to the roar of the waves. Tourists who come to Okinawa during the two months of winter can see groups of humpback whales dancing on the beach and have close contact with the king of the sea. here, The Kerama Islands, 40 kilometers west of Naha Island, are composed of more than 20 islands, including inhabited and uninhabited islands. This island is also quite famous as a diving destination in the world. The water near the Kerama Islands is very transparent and clear. This island group not only has eye-catching beauty due to God’s miraculous workmanship, but has also been protected by society and people. In November 2005, about 120 hectares of sea area on the west side of Tokashiki Island and about 233 hectares of sea area between Zamami Island and Aka Island including uninhabited islands were included in the Ramsar Convention under the name of "Kerama Islands Sea Area" List of Wetlands of International Importance. Surrounded by sea water, the Kerama Islands have an excellent ecological environment. They provide people with a wonderful environment during the diving season, and in the cold winter, they also provide a place for whales to gather and breed. Riding on a boat that cuts through the water, tourists can see the majestic posture of this giant animal next to the mast. Not only can you see the huge humpback whale sometimes leaping out of the water, bringing up water splashes several meters high, sometimes slapping the water with its tail, creating waves on the calm sea; you can even hear the male whale swimming in the vast sea. The sound of wooing female whales penetrates the entire sea area. It is completely different from seeing the light goldfish in the fish pond. The freedom of whales can only be seen in the endless sea. It is a spectacular and extraordinary sight that is rarely seen in the world. People love the slender little life, but they are also in awe of such a huge creature. In this winter, take Peach Airlines from Hong Kong to Okinawa. As winter slowly approaches, go to the waters of the Kerama Islands, feel the dancing and living whales, and feel the vastness of the sea and the shock of the creatures.

It was a very interesting experience. Although the visibility in the sea was second to last, we could still see the small fish very clearly, which allowed my teammate, who can't snorkel, to see the underwater world. Thumbs up to the skinny, small guy leading the group; he was so nice and always smiling.

I walked for a long time but didn't meet anyone. When I met someone, they would smile and say hello to each other. I turned a corner and there was the sea. It was the first time I realized that there are so many different shades of blue in the sea.

Beautiful and quiet beach. There are few people in winter~ From Tokashiki Island, you can reach Aharen Beach by bus in about 15 minutes. The one-way trip costs 400 yen. The scenery along the way is great. When driving through the mountain road, you can overlook the entire beach from the top of the mountain There are water activities on the beach. You can pay for boating and swimming. But many businesses are closed in winter. There is only one store that rents snorkeling equipment. The brave can try swimming. When the sun is strong during the day, the sea water is not very cold and it is acceptable~

I like the castle. The ancient buildings and the stone to build up the castle. The pillars with hand crafted design were amazing. The weather is hot actually and not much shade. To bring an umbrella will be good.
