Okinawa memorial park is located by the sea in the northern part of Okinawa's main island. Built in August 1976 on the former site of the 1975 Okinawa international ocean exposition, the park carries the theme of "sun, flowers and ocean." The grounds are broadly divided into three zones: ocean, history & culture, and flowers & greenery, featuring an aquarium, dolphin shows, botanical gardens and beaches - perfect for a half-day visit. The ocean zone is particularly popular: Okinawa Churaumi aquarium, the park's flagship attraction, houses whale sharks and manta rays in its massive tank; the adjacent dolphin theater continues shows dating back to the exposition era; the manatee house hosts manatees gifted by the Mexican government, while the turtle house observes turtle growth and dolphin lagoon offers close-up dolphin viewing; emerald beach is an artificial coral sand beach within the lagoon, swimmable in summer. The history & culture zone's ocean culture museum displays hundreds of exhibits including large canoes, showcasing Okinawa's maritime connections with the South Pacific and Southeast Asia, along with an observatory; nearby Okinawa traditional village recreates a 17th-19th century Ryukyu kingdom settlement with red-tiled houses, elevated granaries and windbreak trees, accompanied by Soro botanical garden featuring over twenty local plants mentioned in ancient ballads. The flowers & greenery zone's tropical dream center maintains year-round orchid and tropical plant displays in greenhouses, while the tropical/subtropical urban greening garden and sunset plaza make worthy stops. The expansive park requires walking between zones, with electric carts available. While most visitors head straight for the aquarium, Okinawa traditional village offers a more relaxed pace with trilingual audio guides in historic houses and occasional sanshin performances, providing deeper immersion into Ryukyu's maritime heritage.Japan · Motobu

Okinawa World Culture Kingdom is a large theme park in Okinawa where you can experience Ryukyu culture. It mainly features attractions such as the Gyokusen Cave, Kingdom Village, and Viper Museum Park. Visitors can learn about Okinawa's history, culture, and nature, and participate in a variety of hands-on activities. Gyokusendo Cave is a massive natural stalactite cave formed over a long history of 300,000 years. Containing over one million stalactites, it is one of Japan's largest stalactite formations, creating a bizarre landscape. In "Kingdom Village," the castle town of the Ryukyu Kingdom, four old houses recognized as national cultural properties have been relocated. Here, you can enjoy more than 10 cultural experiences, including weaving, printing, dyeing, and Ryukyu glassmaking. At "Viper Museum Park," you can learn about the ecological environment of the rice spoon snake and visit various reptiles. Viper's performances using rice spoon coins are held daily, and their funny and unique content can't help but bring a smile to people's faces. The trainer's humorous commentary might even make you feel a little sorry for the fearsome Snake Snake. Performances are held daily at 11:00, 12:00, 14:00, 15:30, and 16:30, with each performance lasting approximately 20 minutes. The must-see large-scale festival parade performance, "Eisa Drum Dance," takes place four times a day at 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, and 16:00 at Eisa Plaza. It lasts approximately 25 minutes. Shouts are accompanied by drums, and the action culminates in traditional theatrical and lion dance performances.Japan · Nanjo

Ryukyu Village is a tourist theme park where you can fully enjoy Okinawa, easily accessible by car in about an hour from the airport. Surrounded by traditional Okinawan houses and the sound of the sanshin (Okinawan stringed instrument), you can enjoy a moment of peace and relaxation that will make you forget the stresses of everyday life. Furthermore, the availability of Ryukyuan traditional clothing experiences and various other programs allows visitors to fully immerse themselves in Okinawan culture and atmosphere, which is another attractive feature. At Ryukyu Village, you can enjoy a unique Eisa performance that incorporates traditional Eisa music and choreography. Eisa is a type of "dancing Buddhist chanting" performed on the night of the Obon festival to send the spirits of ancestors back to the afterlife, and it is one of Okinawa's representative traditional performing arts. The youth associations of each region parade through the village at night, performing drums and hand dances to the sound of the sanshin (Okinawan stringed instrument), welcoming the spirits of their ancestors and praying for a bountiful harvest and the safety of their families.Japan · Onna

Kokusai-dori is a bustling street in downtown Naha, approx. 1.6 km long, lined with restaurants, general stores, drugstores, and souvenir shops. The street's name originates from the Kokusai Theater cinema opened after the war, and it gradually developed into a lively commercial street, earning it the nickname "Miracle Mile." You can see Shisa sculptures on the street, and various Okinawan specialty goods and traditional craft shops line the street, showcasing a distinct local flair. Visitors can purchase local specialties here such as Shisa figurines, Awamori, and brown sugar, or enjoy local dishes like Okinawa soba. Every Sunday, vehicle traffic is restricted on some sections of the street, making it convenient for pedestrians to stroll. The street also connects to covered shopping streets like Heiwa-dori, which are filled with shops selling traditional clothing, pottery, food, and local ingredients, continuing the daily commercial atmosphere of downtown Naha.Japan · Naha

We visited Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium as a family with our grown-up sons and had a fantastic time! The enormous aquarium with whale sharks and manta rays was absolutely breathtaking. We also enjoyed watching the colourful tropical fish and the dolphin show. Even though our boys are all grown up, we all had so much fun together. It was a wonderful family experience and definitely one of the highlights of our Okinawa trip!

I love theme parks and this is new concept for me. The rain/weather only added thrill to the atmosphere. There were also few visitors during my visit so I was able to do all the attractions that I wanted to do. The food in Panaroma Dining is delicious. The spa was also very nice. It was a great way to end the day!

Okinawa World was a pleasant surprise, with Gyokusendo Cave being the main highlight of the visit. The cave is huge and really impressive, with beautiful stalactites and stalagmites throughout the walking route. The underground scenery feels quite different from the usual Okinawa attractions, and the cool temperature inside the cave was a nice break from the heat outside. The cave is well maintained, with a proper walking path and lighting that makes it easy to appreciate the different formations. There are also some beautiful sections with underground water and colourful lighting. The walk itself takes around 30–45 minutes depending on your pace and how many photos you take, but I would recommend allowing more time to explore the rest of Okinawa World. For the entrance fee, I think it offers good value for money, especially because the ticket gives you more than just access to the cave.

Cute little fake village where they have relocated old houses there. You can walk around and enjoy the architecture and learn Okinawa culture. There was a show too with a woman singing an Okinawa song and dancing. Not too much to do in the village however and it is a bit out the way. Better for a couple hours and if you have a car to get to it. Otherwise you could skip it without losing out on anything. The scenery is very calming though.

I like the castle. The ancient buildings and the stone to build up the castle. The pillars with hand crafted design were amazing. The weather is hot actually and not much shade. To bring an umbrella will be good.

It was a very interesting experience. Although the visibility in the sea was second to last, we could still see the small fish very clearly, which allowed my teammate, who can't snorkel, to see the underwater world. Thumbs up to the skinny, small guy leading the group; he was so nice and always smiling.
