Liuxing Street in Yining City is a national 4A-level historical and cultural block. Its planning was completed as early as 1934. Six main roads radiate outwards from the center, dividing the area into six fan-shaped sections. This unique hexagonal layout is rare in China and is known as Yining's "Little Bagua City" (a term referring to the area in Chinese astrology). Generations of people of various ethnicities have lived here, with Russian and Central Asian style houses scattered throughout. Colorful gates and flower-filled courtyards offer picturesque views at every turn, exuding a strong sense of exoticism. The street is open all day and free of charge, allowing for leisurely strolls. The accordion museum houses hundreds of antique accordions, and with luck, you might even hear a live performance. The aroma of various snacks, such as Gulandam handmade ice cream and baked buns, fills the streets. As dusk falls, the central square comes alive with locals playing instruments and dancing, fireworks mingling with song. Compared to Kazanchi, this place is quieter and more relaxed, less noisy, and more imbued with the essence of local life. When visiting Yining, be sure to set aside time to wander into the alleyways, experience the gentle and vibrant cultural charm of the old town, and understand the unique romance of Yili.
