The Archaeological Site of Olympia, located on the Peloponnese peninsula in Greece, is a historically and culturally significant attraction. As the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games, it showcases not only the sports traditions of ancient Greece but also offers a window into exploring ancient civilization. The site preserves the ruins of several important structures, including the Temple of Olympian Zeus,Temple of HeraAnd the ancient stadium. The Temple of Olympian Zeus was once one of the largest temples in ancient Greece, and its ruins still evoke a sense of past grandeur. Visitors can stroll through the ancient stadium, imagining the scenes of ancient athletes competing here, and feel the origins of the Olympic spirit. In addition to architectural ruins, this site also houses a museum with a vast collection of unearthed artifacts such as statues, pottery, and ritual objects. These exhibits provide valuable resources for studying ancient Greek religion, art, and social life. Not only is it a historical relic, but also a place that inspires thought and learning. Whether you're a scholar fascinated by ancient history or visitors eager to experience the Olympic spirit, this destination offers abundant knowledge and unique experiences, making it an ideal spot to explore ancient Greek culture.Olympia · 557m from downtown

Archaeological Museum of Olympia

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is located east of the entrance to the Olympia ruins on the Peloponnese Peninsula in Greece, adjacent to the revered Sanctuary of Zeus and the birthplace of the Olympic Games. Built between 1883 and 1886, it was Greece's first provincial archaeological museum. The museum features nine exhibition halls, displaying artifacts excavated from the Olympia site, including pottery, sculptures, bronze works, weapons, armor, and sports equipment from various eras. Exhibits are arranged chronologically and thematically, spanning from prehistoric times to the Roman era. Among them, a bronze statue of a charioteer created in 475 BC stands out as a remarkable example of ancient Greek sculptural artistry. Additionally, the museum houses archaeological findings from the Temple of Zeus and numerous precious artifacts related to the history of Olympia.Olympia · 24m from downtown

• Explore one of the world's most important architectural heritage sites • Uncover the history as you walk amongst amazing ruins • See the imposing columns of the Parthenon – the most imitated building in the world △The Acropolis is located southwest of the center of Athens, perched on the top of the Acropolis hill more than 150 meters high. It is a landmark of the city and a symbol of ancient Greece. The Acropolis was built in 580 BC. Acropolis means "high city-state" in Greek. The east, south and north sides of the hill are cliffs, which can be said to be a natural barrier. △[Temple of Erechtheion] Legend has it that it was the place where Athena and Poseidon, the god of the sea, battled wits over being the protector of Athens. This temple is famous for its six caryatids on the south side. △On the top of the Acropolis, there are ruins and cliffs, and you can feel every trace of history.Greece · Athens

We didn't have to wait too long, especially the teenage daughter who is not a big fan of museums, but the tour was great and everyone enjoyed it. Modern, interactive, technological museum, it doesn't get boring. If you don't have time to go inside the museum, at least stroll through the front garden, which is full of sculptures reminiscent of games and sports.
