Maasai Mara National Reserve features diverse landscapes, including open grasslands, acacia woodlands, and riverine forests. It is home to nearly 100 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds, and serves as the shared habitat for Africa's Big Five—lions, leopards, African elephants, African buffalo, and black rhinos. Animal distribution varies across different areas of the reserve: zebras, giraffes, and antelopes graze in herds on the grasslands, while various birds and monkey troops inhabit the acacia woodlands. The banks of the Mara River are the territory of hippos and crocodiles—hippos are often seen half-submerged in the shallows, and crocodiles lurk in the murky waters, waiting for an opportunity. During game drives, different areas offer distinct viewing experiences. Every year from July to September, millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles migrate north from the Serengeti in Tanzania into the reserve in search of water and grass. When the herds cross the Mara River, they face the threats of turbulent currents and crocodiles; this event, known as the "Great Crossing," is an iconic scene of the Great Migration. This is a world-renowned wildlife paradise. 95% of the footage from CCTV's "Animal World" program was filmed here.

The Tarek River in the Masai Mara National Park is the river of life in the Masai Mara Park. It is the water source for many wild animals and their habitat. Around here you can see all the animals living in the Masai Mara, including hippos, crocodiles, etc. The river is really full of vitality.

We did hot air ballooning in the Masai Mara which was amazing but we felt it was overpriced. The vehicle we used for the safari was a 4WD van. I only wish the vehicle was more comfortable and sturdy. We booked fantastic tented camp accommodations in all 3 destinations. On our last day out we also did the Giraffe Center in Nairobi. It was not in the itinerary but Kizito and the team arranged it and made sure we could visit. I highly recommend East African Adventures, you can trust them and have a great trip with great memories.
