Things to do in Luxi

Maitreya Temple is located in Mile City. Believers can worship Maitreya Buddha in the temple and reach the Big Maitreya Buddha through 1,999 steps. The Big Maitreya Buddha is 19.99 meters tall and is located on the top of Maitreya Mountain in Mile City.

Teacher Xiaowen's explanations were very detailed, humorous, and her speaking pace was just right. I really liked it and loved the exhibitions at the Yunnan Provincial Museum, as well as its rich historical atmosphere and cultural charm.

Enter from entrance 2 track down stairs towards on spot payment ticketed one way elevator ride up and exit via entrance 1. Worth the time for view and hike. There’s one zone passing thru the waterfall with wet stairs so step with care. Pictures shown here doesn’t do this attraction. Have to experienced it yourself physically

The children saw many animals, and the sightseeing bus was very convenient, with no long waits. The fox's eyes were so heartbreaking; I really wanted to take it home, haha. Hornbills, giraffes, raccoons, swans, baboons, pandas, tigers, red-crowned cranes, pelicans, turkeys, ostriches, macaws, brown bears… so many animals! It's definitely worth a visit.

Taking a ride on the meter-gauge railway in Jianshui Ancient City is a wonderful and worthwhile experience. I booked my ticket online a day in advance and boarded at Lin'an Station at 9:00 AM. The train clattered along the tracks slowly, with a gentle breeze on my face – a truly delightful moment!

Jinpingshan Scenic Area (Maitreya Buddha) Adult Ticket: 30 RMB per person Children and Seniors (60+): 15 RMB per person (half price) Free for those 70 and above Scenic Bus: 15 RMB per person one way, 20 RMB per person round trip (no discounts) The highest point of the scenic area requires climbing 1999 steps to reach the Maitreya Buddha... The bus goes directly to the highest point... The Maitreya Buddha is 19.9 meters tall; pray for health and peace. Suggestion: For those with limited physical strength, consider taking the scenic bus uphill and walking downhill... because if you only take the bus, you won't see much scenery along the way... Since you're already here, you should at least see some sights... If you've purchased a ticket for the scenic bus, don't rush to scan your ticket to enter the scenic area. The bus ride is outside; you scan your ticket to enter directly to the highest point... Jinpingshan Scenic Area can be combined with Dianxi River Wetland Park for a combined visit.

It's worth a visit, though quite tiring; we probably took the easiest route. From the visitor center, take the sightseeing bus to the scenic area entrance, then walk one kilometer along the river to Longmen Waterfall. Take the elevator up, then walk 800 meters to Tianchi for the boat tour. Take the boat into the Dragon Palace twice, but don't get off at the second entrance (from there you have to walk an hour and a half to Xuantang). Return by boat to Tianchi, then walk to the scenic area exit, then another kilometer through Buyi Town to the sightseeing bus station. Take the sightseeing bus back to the visitor center. The whole trip takes about three and a half hours.

I went during the off-season, so the service was practically nonexistent, but the environment was very nice and worth a visit. It's best to hire a car for the round trip, as it's difficult to get a taxi on-site. If you go during the off-season, you should bring your own food, as there were no food vendors inside the scenic area.

The Grand View Garden of Southern Yunnan truly lives up to its reputation! The ancient buildings in the Zhu Family Garden are beautiful, with exquisite wood carvings, elegant gardens, and a wonderfully atmospheric lakeside courtyard. Strolling through the courtyard is very immersive, and every snapshot is a beautiful sight. Experience the unique charm of traditional dwellings in southern Yunnan. Highly recommended!
