Reviews: Negombo: Ayurvedic Massage and Spa Rituals

We made a reservation as a couple. We were worried about how to communicate our request to share a room, but when we arrived, we were relieved to find that we were able to share a room and receive treatments at the same time. We took a tuk-tuk from our hotel, and it was easy to spot from the road. As soon as we entered the gate, a staff member greeted us. We were shown to the front desk and told to wait on a sofa. The front desk was simply designed and there were a lot of flies, which made us uneasy, but the treatment room, about a 30-second walk away, was clean and free of insects. The room temperature was just right, and there was an air conditioner remote so we adjusted it ourselves. We had a 90-minute full-body aromatherapy massage, and we appreciated that the paper underwear was made of thin cloth rather than the usual non-woven fabric. When the treatment began, the staff turned on the ceiling fan, so we told them in English that it was cold and asked them to turn it off. The female staff member didn't seem to be very good at English and looked puzzled, but the male staff member understood. I have had many massages in various countries, but this massage was just okay, not bad, rather than incredibly relaxing. Jasmine Villa has a more luxurious feel and the massage was more enjoyable. If you're undecided, I highly recommend Jasmine. I was able to take a shower after the massage, but there was no hot water, and the water was lukewarm, not cold, so it was very cold. I couldn't find a hairdryer. The massage room was dimly lit with just a hint of natural light, which was very pleasant.
