Reviews: Kigali: Mount Kigali and Cultural Village Tour with Snacks
Guest User2026-10-02
It was a really good tour. We were able to hike while looking at the mountain village and see how the villagers, who live a nearly self-sufficient life in the mountains, usually go about their daily lives. If I had gone into the mountains alone, I wouldn't have known how far I was allowed to go, and since many of the locals don't speak English, it would have been difficult to communicate with the villagers. In some cases, I might have been mistaken for a suspicious person, so I felt that going on a guided tour was well worth it. For example, I was able to ask the guide about things I wouldn't have known just by looking, such as why the children were fetching water, what the work that the people living in the mountains were doing was for their own livelihood, or whether it was for selling as a product. Also, the guide adjusted the walking pace to ours and spoke English according to my English level, so it was easy to communicate and I was able to participate without any problems. They also arrived on time for the meeting, which was reassuring. However, the mountain trails are quite rough. It's not a tour where you walk on paved roads, so if you participate, I think you need to wear comfortable shoes and pay attention to your footing. For those who want to not only observe the lives of the local people but also understand "why" they do things the way they do, this guided tour is definitely worthwhile.
