Reviews: Durban: Local Markets and Culture Guided Walking Tour
Guest User2026-10-23
My wife and I wanted to see a more authentic side of Durban. Over our years of travel, we've learned that the tours that enrich us most aren't about old buildings, names and dates. They're the ones where you can really engage with your guide and go deeper into a place. Johnny helped us understand the everyday struggles people faced before and after apartheid, across social class and race. First and foremost, Johnny takes safety seriously. He has strong relationships with the locals, it was clear he is well respected.. We rode the local kombis just like locals do. We visited markets, including the traditional bush markets, and saw things most tourists never see. We tried local food at the street stalls-again, sampling local culture through their everyday food-we never questioned eating at the market stall-the food was safely prepared and delicious . Johnny's tour is easily among the best we've ever had-simply put, book it!!
