Enshi Grand Canyon National 5A Scenic Area and National Geopark is a world-renowned "natural museum" of composite karst landforms with "ground fissures, cenotes and rock pillars" coexisting at the same time. Its ecological environment is unique, and its natural scenery is primitive and simple, with a gallery of ten thousand meters of cliffs, a thousand-foot waterfall, hundreds of unique peaks, and ten miles of deep ravines. Yunlong Ground Fissure is called "the beautiful scar of the earth"; "One Incense Stick" was rated as one of the 40 famous scenic spots in China by foreign media. The river valley is deep and the bank is steep. It is known as the "ten-mile and hundred-foot cliff". It is the main sightseeing area of Yunlong Ground Fissure Scenic Area. Because the strata here are horizontal, and the rock has a high compressive strength (800 kg/cm3), and there is no tilt or slip, it cannot be moved by the wind or knocked down by the rain. It has stood proudly among the peaks for tens of millions of years, guarding this mysterious land, which is rare. Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street

7.9
4.7/5
5.6k reviews
Jiefangbei Pedestrian Street is the long-established core commercial district in Chongqing, located on the Yuzhong Peninsula. Centered around the Monument to the People's Liberation at its heart, it extends along several streets including Minquan Road, Minzu Road, Zourong Road, and Bayi Road. The monument is an octagonal tower-shaped structure, originally built to commemorate the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and later renamed the Monument to the People's Liberation. Its four-sided clock at the top makes it a highly recognizable landmark in Chongqing, and most travelers visiting here take photos in front of it. Shopping and food are the two main themes of the pedestrian street: the area around the monument is densely packed with shopping malls and traditional department stores. When tired from shopping, visitors can turn into Bayi Road Snack Street, where sour and spicy noodles, small glutinous rice balls, and wontons line the street, allowing them to sample all of Chongqing's snacks while strolling. Hidden around the commercial district are Luohan Temple and Nengren Temple on Zhonghua Road, two ancient temples nestled among skyscrapers, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. At night, the pedestrian street takes on a different vibe: building screens and neon lights illuminate the area, and the square in front of the monument becomes a popular spot for night photography. Every New Year's Eve, many locals gather under the monument to listen to the New Year's bell and count down together—a tradition that has continued for years. The crowd is enormous that night, so those wishing to experience the atmosphere should plan ahead. A short 15-minute walk from the monument leads to Hongya Cave, making it ideal to combine both locations into a nightlife route.China · Chongqing

I have always wanted to go to Luoyang to see the peonies. I didn't expect that there is such a beautiful peony world in Chongqing. The peonies are numerous and beautiful, and they are worthy of being the national flower. The scenic area is very large. I suggest that you take a sightseeing bus to enter. If you don't take a sightseeing bus, you have to walk a long way. Hmmmm.

The Two Rivers Ferry is absolutely fantastic! The 15 yuan ticket is incredibly cost-effective! Here's a great route for families with kids: After visiting Jiefangbei and Kuixinglou, see Hongyadong during the day. If you're traveling with a 6-year-old and don't want to brave the crowds at Hongyadong at night, the stilted buildings during the day are just as beautiful. Afterward, take the Two Rivers Ferry to Danzishi, disembark, and explore Danzishi Old Street, Nanbin Road, and Xiahaoli. Then, take the light rail/bus or taxi back. The whole route is smooth and relaxing. The boat ride is novel and fun, and the kids especially loved it, remaining enthusiastic about exploring the shopping streets afterwards. At the pier, there's a large bowl of freshly cut watermelon for 10 yuan – watch it being cut right in front of you! It's sweet and refreshing. I highly recommend this route for families!

The Three Natural Bridges in Wulong District, Chongqing are the core scenic area of the World Natural Heritage site "South China Karst". They are also the largest natural bridge group in Asia. We visited at the end of October. At this time of year, the area is no longer as crowded, so we were able to head straight from the visitor center to the entrance of the scenic area without any wait. The route begins with an elevator ride down into the valley. There is only one path, so it’s impossible to get lost. Near the stalls, there is a staircase leading quite a way up the rock face—but this is a dead end; you have to head back down the steps to continue along the path in the valley. At the end of the valley, we took a shuttle to Longshuixia. There, you first enter a tunnel, and upon exiting it, you take an elevator down into the gorge. Again, there is only one path, so you cannot get lost. At the end of the gorge, a shuttle awaits to take you back to the visitor center. Everything is very well organized.

Before the various Yangtze River bridges, this was the main way for Chongqing residents to cross the river. Each carriage held about thirty people. When it wasn't crowded, the wait was about twenty minutes, and the crossing itself took about five minutes. A one-way trip cost 30 yuan, and a round trip 50 yuan. The experience was indeed quite unique. The only downside was that the windows were incredibly dirty!

The Chongqing zoo is well worth a visit if you want to see pandas and Chengdu isn’t on the itinerary. There are a number of large panda enclosures, all next to each other. The zoo itself is really very neat with well tended sites and gardens. Compared to Guangzhou zoo, its night and day. The former is quite depressing, with old concrete bunkers for many animals. Chongqing zoo, in contrast, obviously takes more care and is able to invest more money into their animals. Thumbs up 👍🏼

The Grand Canyon must have been beautiful, but unfortunately, we encountered a very foggy day, so we couldn't see much of the scenery from the mountain. The Yunlong Ground Fissure, which we visited in the afternoon, was unaffected by the fog and was quite spectacular. Even though we bought tickets for the cable car, elevator, and other amenities, we still almost broke our legs from all the walking, which will affect our itinerary for several days. I recommend that if you're not very confident in your hiking skills, you buy a combined ticket that includes the cable car, elevator, and escalator.

The Jianmen Pass is majestic and imposing, a place where one man can hold off ten thousand. Standing before Jianmen Pass, the seventy-two peaks stretch out from the horizon in a straight line, creating an overwhelming sense of awe. I truly understood the scene described in Li Bai's poem. Entering from the North Gate, the Shu Road route inevitably requires a ticket. Climbing to Fairy Corridor, reaching the summit of Bird Island, then heading to Liangshan Temple, and returning, passing through the Great Cave, Small Cave, and One Line of Sky to reach the pass tower, exiting from the South Gate, the entire route is 9 kilometers long, without taking the cable car, with a total elevation gain of 750 meters. Bus No. 7 from Jianmen Pass High-Speed Railway Station costs 6 yuan per person and connects the high-speed railway station, the North Gate, and the South Gate.

My stay in Chongqing was fantastic! The hotel boasts a superb location, within walking distance of Eling No. 2 Factory and Liziba Viewpoint, making sightseeing incredibly convenient. The rooms were spotless and bright, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the amenities were complete. The free parking was a great convenience for travelers with cars. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in quick and easy, and patiently answering all my questions. Overall, it offered excellent value for money and is a top choice for any trip. I would definitely choose this hotel again next time.
