Reviews: Kyoto Day Tour: Arashiyama + Sanzen-in + Kifune Shrine (Departure from Osaka or Kyoto | Optional Hotel Pickup / Small Group with Sagano Romantic Train)
Guest User2026-09-07
Having visited Kyoto several times, I finally realized I should explore more attractions instead of just stopping at Hanamikoji, Kiyomizu-dera, Fushimi, Inari, and Nishiki Market. So, I joined a small day tour to see three places I'd never been before. Since many Kyoto attractions are scattered, it's really inconvenient to visit several places in one day without a car. Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, and Arashiyama—if I had to choose, I'd visit Sanzen-in Temple multiple times; it's so beautiful! Of course, early September isn't peak autumn foliage season, so Arashiyama wasn't at its most beautiful. Personally, I felt that without the autumn leaves, the place resembled Anji or Tonglu in Zhejiang—green mountains, clear water, and bamboo forests, nothing particularly special. The small tour departed from Osaka, which was especially convenient for us living in Kyoto, as we could sleep in a little longer, have breakfast, and wait for the tour bus to pick us up. The driver even arranged for me to be a tour guide on the spot, giving me tickets for the Sagano Scenic Railway and letting me lead nine people on a round-trip train journey and arrange seating. It was quite fun.

Reviews: [Small Group of 9] Kyoto Kifune Shrine + Arashiyama + Sanzenin Temple Day Trip
Guest User2026-07-18
The driver was so kind and helpful! We overslept, and he waited for us for a long time, picking us up directly from Osaka Station. The itinerary was great, though it would have been even better if we had more time to explore each place. Arashiyama was so beautiful, and it was a bit of a shame we didn't have enough time to ride the little train. We'll definitely go again next time.

Reviews: Kyoto, Japan: Kifune Shrine + Arashiyama + Bamboo Grove Day Trip [Small Group of 9]
Guest User2026-09-30
Today's tour was a great success. Our guide, Yasuo, arrived early at the Kyoto meeting point to wait for us. His time management and explanations of the sights were excellent throughout the tour; he was clearly an experienced and helpful guide. We visited Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, and Arashiyama. These are places that are very difficult to visit in one day without a tour, as they are quite far apart. Thankfully, we chose a group tour today, which allowed us to see them all. Overall, today's choice was perfect!

Reviews: Small group | Arashiyama · optional Sagano Romantic Train & Kifune Shrine & Sanzen-in 1-day tour | Osaka/Kyoto
Guest User2026-07-27
This place would be absolutely amazing if the autumn leaves were in full bloom; I guess I'll have to wait until next autumn to go again. But summer has its own unique beauty too; Kifune Shrine was also very nice, and the guides were all incredibly dedicated. Even though it was really hot, it was wonderful to experience different places in Kyoto!

Reviews: [Kyoto Autumn Foliage Season] A one-day tour of Kyoto: Sanzen-in Temple, Kifune Shrine, Arashiyama Scenic Railway, Tenryu-ji Temple
Guest User2026-07-27
Our trip started in Kyoto and then went to Osaka. On our last day in Kyoto, we joined a one-day tour that visited Sanzen-in Temple and then Kibune, two places I really wanted to see. The point-to-point transportation was much more convenient than taking the bus myself. However, the part in Nanzan was okay; the driver wasn't very familiar with the area, and I hadn't done any research on Arashiyama, so we didn't really explore it, just rode the Sagano Scenic Railway. Overall, I was satisfied, but those prone to motion sickness should sit in the front.
