We visited the Summer Imperial Palace together in early March 2026; there weren't many people there in the morning.
Our Russian-speaking guide, Andrey, met us at the entrance. We quickly got used to his conversation. Andrey provided engaging and accessible information.
He answered all our questions, even personal ones. The grounds are very large, beautiful, and well-maintained, with palaces, temples, ponds, and bridges—the pinnacle of Chinese art. We highly recommend everyone visit this UNESCO World Heritage site!★

I'd like to share my experience. It's warm on the wall on January 8th. The temperature is just above freezing. Those accustomed to Far Eastern and Siberian winters with temperatures of -20-30 degrees Celsius will find it very comfortable. We haven't tried the green route. It's shorter (1.5 hours) and easier. We climbed the red route (2.5 hours) from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, taking 40 minutes each way. From 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM, it's a stroll. From 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, it's a dash up steep steps. The steps are of varying sizes. Watch your step. Wear light shoes. And don't dress too warmly. A wet back, and maybe even something else, will ruin the experience. It's better to dress lightly and sportily, and pack some extra gear in case the wind picks up.★

I enjoyed the tour. The bus was comfortable, large, and clean. The guide was cheerful. Unfortunately, due to traffic, we were behind schedule and didn't have time to visit the old summer palace, and it was already dark when we arrived at the summer palace. But that didn't ruin the day. Many thanks to the guide. Everything was wonderful!★

I had a fulfilling and enjoyable trip, and I must commend our tour guide, Ding Feipeng. He was incredibly professional, attentive, and responsible. Most importantly, his cultural knowledge was exceptional; he could effortlessly rattle off various poems and historical anecdotes. I was particularly impressed by his knowledge of the murals in the Long Corridor of the Summer Palace. Having such a good tour guide, especially when visiting cultural sites, is incredibly fortunate. Thank you, Tour Guide Ding, for teaching me so much. Highly recommended!
