Things to do in Pingnan

We had a wonderful family trip to Beidi Mountain during the National Day holiday. The mountain peaks were shrouded in mist, and the cable car ride offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains was truly awe-inspiring. The park's performances were excellent, and the natural scenery was pristine. The whole family had a fantastic time.

The park isn't large, less than 50,000 steps. Its biggest advantage is the close proximity of the animals, allowing for safe, close-up observation. Food inside is inexpensive, but aside from water and grilled sausages, there's not much else. The wontons and other snacks aren't very good and not worth the effort. However, the park is somewhat neglected; the smell is unusually strong, and it's a bit dirty…

The circus is great, with tons of tigers, bears, and other animals. You can buy food to feed the bears, elephants, and tigers. Renting an electric cart to explore the park is much less tiring. I'd suggest charging 40 yuan for half an hour after the first hour for the electric cart; that would be reasonable.

Rafting is fun. No matter the price or the excitement, it is better than the rafting in Qingyuan. Especially the last 25-meter drop, it is a perfect ending! However, children cannot play in the last 25 meters, which is indeed a bit dangerous. The safety officer floated down from above all the time, and the safety officers along the way were also soaking in the water to help. In fact, it was very distressing to see. When we arrived at the rafting point, there were also safety officers explaining the precautions of rafting. Although we have played rafting in different places, we have never explained it like this before. There is also hot ginger tea for unlimited drinking, and hot water for bathing. Compared with many rafting places in Guangdong, the bathing rooms are cold water, and the bathing rooms have stainless steel racks for clothes. The service is very careful.

Qingxiu Mountain may lack towering peaks, but it possesses a unique, serene beauty characteristic of southern China. The mountain is lush and verdant, with wildflowers blooming freely. Strolling through the woods, the wind carries the fragrance of grass and trees. Climbing the Longxiang Pagoda, the Yong River flows like a ribbon, offering a panoramic view of the city's vibrant life. Find a quiet spot in the city, escape the hustle and bustle, and let your mind and body slowly relax.

When visiting Guilin, a must-see is Elephant Trunk Hill, the city's iconic landmark. It truly lives up to its reputation as the face of Guilin's landscape; only by seeing it in person can one truly appreciate the wonders of nature. The entire mountain sits on the banks of the Li River, resembling a giant elephant bowing to drink from the water. The Water Moon Cave cuts through the mountain, its reflection shimmering in the water, creating the famous Elephant Trunk Hill and Water Moon spectacle—a flowing ink painting. The scenic area is clean and comfortable, with walking paths built along the Li River, shaded by lush trees, making for a delightful stroll. You can climb the mountain for panoramic views of Guilin, or find classic vantage points along the riverbank to capture stunning, atmospheric photos. Boat trips are also available, offering a different and breathtaking perspective of Elephant Trunk Hill from the river. The scenic area is conveniently located in the city center, with excellent transportation and comprehensive facilities. Every step reveals a new vista, allowing you to truly experience the unparalleled beauty of Guilin's landscape. Don't miss it when traveling to Guilin; it's definitely worth a visit.

You can't see anything on a foggy day, and there is a plank road on top, so it's not worth the money to walk on it.

This is my second visit to the Longji Rice Terraces. They've changed a lot since twenty years ago. The terraces are now illuminated at night, and many more paths have been built for tourists. While they've become more commercialized, it's definitely more convenient. Before, I had to drag my suitcase up the mountain myself, unlike now with the cable car. I really love this place; it created unforgettable memories for my parents, and I'll definitely come back again.

It was very convenient for two adults and two children. The cruise was comfortable with scenic views, the seats were spacious, and it was easy for the children to get in and out. Warm water was provided on board, which was very comforting on a cold day. The crew helped with luggage, which was quite large. Highly recommended.

It's definitely worth a visit and experience. I didn't expect there to be small group guided tours and explanations. The tour included historical information and hands-on activities, and at the end, you could even climb Duxiu Peak to watch the sunset. Overall, it was a very good experience.
