[Overall Impressions]
There is a four-story underground space beneath a Berlin subway station. It resembles an air-raid shelter used during World War II, but unlike Japanese air-raid shelters, the facilities are integrated into a kind of town.
The guide's stories are also very interesting, and it's definitely worth a visit.
[How to Visit/Duration]
- The tour is conducted as a 90-minute tour. There are no Japanese tours, but English tours are available. I took the most common tour, the "Dark Worlds."
- The tour I took was guided by a native English speaker, so I enjoyed the 90 minutes in easy-to-understand English. However, if you can't hear the explanations, it may be difficult to understand, as there is almost no written explanation.
[Ticket Price]
- The price is 13€ for students and other eligible visitors.
- You can purchase tickets directly on the day, but they can often be fully booked, especially on weekends. If you make a reservation in advance through the website, you will receive a QR code, which you can simply show.
・As stated in the PDF you received upon completing your reservation, the meeting point is right outside the station (second photo).
[Important Notes]
・Photography is prohibited inside the cave.
・There are no restrooms once the tour begins, and no time allotted for toilet use.
・There are no luggage storage areas or lockers.
・An exhibition guide book is available (English, 5€), but the building selling it seems to close around 4 PM. Please note that if you are taking a tour starting at 3:30 PM, the building will already be closed by the end of the tour and you will not be able to purchase it.
