I recently had the opportunity to stay at an onsen hotel, and I must say, my experience was somewhat disappointing. While the hotel had many appealing features, several aspects fell short of expectations.
Firstly, the hotel's policy requiring guests to walk barefoot or in socks was problematic due to the cleanliness of the floors. The surfaces did not seem well-maintained, which detracted from the overall experience.
I was particularly let down by the private bath. The two only available tubs was filled with bleach, which was concerning and not suitable for relaxation. Additionally, there were no shower facilities provided for rinsing off before or after soaking in the onsen. This made the experience less enjoyable, as I couldn't clean myself immediately before or after enjoying the hot springs.
Furthermore, the reservation system for the private baths was poorly organized. There was no clear queue, leading to confusion and frustration among guests who were waiting their turn.
Overall, the taste of dinner and breakfast was average, but the environment and service was quite good.
Although the hotel offered many attractions and amenities, the execution left much to be desired. Overall, my stay was a case of having high expectations that were not met. I hope the hotel can improve these aspects in the future to provide a better experience for its guests.
The staff welcomed us at the hotel entrance and helped us check in the hotel quickly. The staff was very helpful in explaining the hotel layout and where our meals would take place, and made sure we understood before leaving. The dinner and breakfast service were amazing, the ingredients were very fresh and delicious. Their hotel has an outdoor foot bath with towels provided which I enjoyed immensely. The hotel is very clean and has shuttle service which was convenient since it is on a hill. We enjoyed our stay very much.
The hotel is very unique and has a 170-year history!
On the day of check-in, the hotel was very considerate and sent red bean rice cake soup. The room we stayed in was very comfortable, and the bathroom had a private bath so we could soak in the hot spring anytime. Both breakfast and dinner are very special. Dinner is Kaiseki cuisine with delicious Hida beef. Every dish is very delicious. The boss also came to take pictures for us and printed them out for me the next day! In summary, the hotel is very comfortable to stay in, and the service is very satisfactory and considerate!
Fantastic choice for those looking for a relaxing getaway. Clean and modern rooms, stuff is so helpful and cute. Onsen is soooo nice! Would definitely recommend this hotel and plan to return in the future! đđŒđđŒđđŒ
In the Takasu Ski district, this is about the most impressive hotel option. Since there is very little dining options in the town of 1 street, we are thankful for the good quality restaurant for breakfast and dinner.
The rooms decor is dated but in very good condition, for a moment I felt like I was in an Austrian ski lodge.
The onsen was also dated but in good functioning condition.
There is on site parking which may not be enough during peak season. Then again, Takasu ski-jo looks like a day trip option.
I recently enjoyed a fantastic staycation at a hotel featuring a beautiful onsen, and it was exactly what I needed! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a serene atmosphere. The onsen was a highlight of my stayâimmersing myself in the soothing hot springs while surrounded by nature was incredibly rejuvenating.
The hotelâs environment is simply stunning, offering a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I took long walks in the nearby gardens, which were beautifully maintained and provided a peaceful backdrop for relaxation.
One thing to note is the parking fee of 1100 yen per night ( from 2pm) , which I found reasonable considering the convenience. Overall, this staycation was a delightful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to unwind and enjoy some tranquility. I canât wait to return for another relaxing getaway!
We are so happy we found Miramar Ouan. Comfortable rooms, amazing natural hot spring baths (private and public), and very friendly service. We will definitely return.
Arrived at 12pm and room was ready to check in. But too bad i had to eat lunch and travel around first before checking in so i couldnt enjoy the early check in. Take note no car park onsite, and have to park at the public carparks. But overall the room was well renovated, clean, cosy bed was comfortable and worth the price. Staff was friendly too
My recent stay at the Wat Hotel & Spa Hida Takayama was a delightful experience. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the hotel's thoughtful amenities and welcoming atmosphere. Ample parking is available (a reasonable „800 overnight fee applies), making it a convenient choice for those traveling by car. I also opted for the breakfast buffet („1000 per person), which offered a delicious start to each day. The friendly front desk staff spoke excellent English, making check-in a breeze. A particularly nice touch was the welcome drink coupon, redeemable for a refreshing beer or soft drink at the self-service bar â a perfect way to unwind after a journey.
The rooms at Wat Hotel & Spa are spacious and comfortable, featuring well-appointed bathrooms with excellent shower facilities. The hotel's onsen, located on the top floor, is a true highlight. The private onsen is available on a first-come, first-served basis, offering a relaxing and intimate experience. Simply lock the door, and the space is yours to enjoy. The hotel is also family-friendly, with a fun touch â guests can help themselves to a complimentary popsicle after their bath. All the essential amenities are provided, including combs, soap, shampoo, and comfortable bathrobes, readily available in the lobby. My stay at the Wat Hotel & Spa Hida Takayama was truly rejuvenating, and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting this charming town.
My stay at this hot spring hotel was disappointing, especially in terms of food and service. The dinner experience lacked any semblance of service standards. The food was already placed in the room before we entered, and the waiter merely asked if we lit the fire without offering explanations or providing a menu. They also kept forgetting different cutlery for various dishes, making the experience feel chaotic and unprofessional. The food itself was very ordinary, far below the quality I've experienced at other hot spring hotels.
The private onsen was another letdown, as the water switch was broken, leaving us unable to adjust the temperature or flow. This meant enduring uncomfortably hot water throughout. Breakfast was similarly disappointingâsimple and uninspired, offering no surprises or variety. Overall, this hotel fell well short of the standard expected from a hot spring retreat.
