#Hiking and mountain climbing to see the sea of mist
#Short but brutal distance 2 days 1 night
A hiking trip to end the winter with Legawda, a mountain of faith, Tha Song Yang District, Tak Province. I've seen so many reviews that I couldn't resist with a short distance of only 3.8 kilometers. Is it really a leisurely walk? You have to try it out.
🚐 #Start the trip
This trip, we went with a tour group for convenience in traveling and contacting the villagers.
The meeting point is Big C Saphan Khwai. There will be a van to pick us up at 19:30. Before getting on the van, there will be an ATK test by the vaccination document officer. Check it before booking the trip.
Traveling by van, 10 people, there is 1 tour guide to advise and take care of us throughout the trip. The wheels start at 20:40. During this time, we sleep for a long time. Stop by a gas station every now and then. Before we know it, we arrive in Tak Province at 06:00. Stop for lunch and wash our faces and brush our teeth. It is a restaurant that the tour group has already contacted.
Leave the restaurant at 07:00 and arrive at the park at 07:24 to change to a local pickup truck to continue the journey to the starting point.
🏃#Start hiking to the tent site
It took a little over an hour from the park to the starting point at 08:55. It is the area of the Topide village and the starting point is the area of the Pa Kra Kee temple. When we arrived, there were porters that the trip had contacted in advance. There were not many people walking yet, so there was only our group of about 20 people.
We started walking at around 09:10. The distance to the tent site is 3.8 kilometers. You can walk by yourself without a guide, but the first part of the distance might be confusing because you have to walk back up the stream to the waterfall. There are concrete stairs made by the villagers at some points in the steep areas, followed by a 45-degree steep path alternating with pulling ropes. The distance is short but steep the whole way.
And then we arrived at the tent site at 11:37. It is a flat area on a small hill with a Buddha statue for worship. Then it was time. When looking for a place to pitch a tent, whoever comes first gets a good spot. I got a tent in the middle of a hill. After setting up the tent, we stopped to eat lunch that the trip had prepared for us and waited for the sun to start to fade. Then we prepared to go see the sunset at Khao Yot Chedi. We had to walk for about an hour because we had to climb a long mountain.
The atmosphere up there right now is cool and shady. There is still fog on the mountaintop. There is almost no phone signal up there, only in some places. You could say that you are disconnected from social media. There is no electricity and you have to bring your own drinking water. Most importantly, there used to be a bathroom but it is not usable. You have to go into the forest. Prepare wet tissues.
At 4:00 PM, we started walking to the top of the chedi. We could see it right at the chedi, but the walk was like climbing a mountain because we had to walk along a narrow ridge and pull ropes and rappel. But it was a complete trek here.
We reached the top of the mountain. It was quite tiring. The view from up there was a complex of mountains. The atmosphere was nice. Especially when the sun set, the orange sunlight hit the chedi, making it even more beautiful.
And the difficult moment came when we arrived. 55 We had to walk back to the chedi after the sun set. The sky is starting to get dark. Those who are coming, please bring a flashlight because the path is a cliff and a ridge. Be careful when walking. When we get back to the tent, we rest, eat, wash our faces, and prepare to go to bed because tomorrow we will be excited about the sea of fog.
☁️ #Morning sea of fog
05:30 am. This morning's wake-up time, wash our faces and brush our teeth to prepare to go up to see the sea of fog. At around 06:00 am, we start our journey. The sky is not yet bright, but we can see a faint shadow of a sea of fog.
Breathe in the fresh air on the top of Doi Lek Wa Da and see the white sea of fog as far as the eye can see and the mountain ranges. It is worth the tiredness this time. The view is very beautiful and the fog here lasts for a long time. In the late morning, the sun is strong and the fog still hasn't disappeared.
🚐 #Return trip
After coming down from the top of the chedi, we came down to pack up the tent and have breakfast before walking down the mountain. Whoever brings trash must bring it back with them. Don't leave it upstairs. I walked down at 09:25 am. Walking back is considered fast because it is only a walk down. It took about 1 hour to reach the bottom. Then get on the local pickup truck to return to the park to take a shower and then get on the van back to Bangkok.
At around 2:00 PM, we left the park to return. On the way, we stopped by the Muser Market, had lunch at a gas station, and then took a long nap. We arrived in Bangkok at around 11:09 PM.
Every time we go hiking, there are always memorable impressions of that place. This time, we were lucky to see a sea of fog, pull the rope down from the hill, which was challenging, and most importantly, we made friends every time.
