Taste of the Ocean 🌊 @ Sydney Fish Market
Straight off my flight, I headed to Sydney Fish Market to grab some lunch. Stepping foot in the market, the bustling atmosphere and the aroma of fresh seafood made me eager to explore this place.
As I walked past the colorful stalls, you cannot help but feel amazed by the variety of fish, oysters, lobsters, shellfish etc on display. Choosing what to eat was both fun and challenging, with so many delicious options to consider.
I finally settled on some oysters and a mixed variety of sashimi. I savoured every bite, enjoying the flavors of the ocean. Sitting by the water, watching the boats go by, added to the charm of the meal. But do watch out for those pesky seagulls that are always on the lookout for the next opportunity to pounce on your meal!

🇦🇺Sydney Seafood Market
📍Sydney fish market
Not far from the city, this seafood market is a must-visit for seafood lovers!! While it may not be as big as Melbourne's South Melbourne Market, it still offers a wide variety of seafood, including fried sushi and more.
Steamed Australian lobster: The lobster here has a firm texture and is served with salad dressing, but personally, I prefer dipping it in soy sauce for a fresher taste.
-
Oysters: How can you visit a seafood market and not have oysters! Most of them are of good quality and not fishy.
-
Salmon and Tuna: The salmon here is of the standard Sydney level, fresh and firm. When you order a whole piece, they will slice it for you. Just order by weight, and the staff will help you with the portion. Don't forget to get a box of mustard dipping sauce to go along with it.
Opening hours: 7am-4pm.

Sydney Fish Market - Sydney, Australia
Sydney Fish Market is the largest market of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Located in the Pyrmont neighbourhood of Sydney, it’s a must-visit destination for seafood lovers!
The market has over 100 different species of seafood which are sourced from sustainable and responsible fisheries. You can also find ranges of deli items, fresh products and specialty goods in the market.
Beyond shopping, it’s one of the best seafood dining experience in Sydney. Though it can be very crowded most of the time, but I would highly recommend sitting at the outdoor seating area as it provides a stunning view of the harbour.
They are open daily from 7am to 4pm, and I highly recommend you to visit Sydney Market when you’re there!

Popular local option
Social brew is a very popular local cafe, you’d better reserve the table before you go or go there earlier during the weekends. But the waiting time was not too long, so it was totally fine to just walk around and enjoy their peaceful neighbourhood. A delightful cafe with outdoor seating, friendly and attentive servers, and fantastic coffee and breakfasts. This cafe has all your essential dishes such as eggs Benedict, avo and toast etc. they have really good coffee as well and juices. The mushroom on thick sourdough was delicious and full of flavour. The salmon was great as well.A delightful cafe with outdoor seating, friendly and attentive servers, and fantastic coffee and breakfasts.

Sydney Fish Market and China Town
In Fish Market you won’t be disappointed with the varieties of seafood you can have whilst not considering much about pricing. I was spending a pleasant Saturday afternoon there. The same pricy inception about foods in China Town will impress you a retirement life would be a challenge in Australian 🤔. It was my first trip ever being in Sydney. Unluckily I was kept not going far away CBD during my 4 days stay because of non-stop rain pouring. #Exotic #Fish market sydney #Sydney train

Scrumptious seafood
A Must-go location for anyone going to Sydney. Great choices of seafood. A great tip to avoid the crowds and secure a table to dine and enjoy the scenery at same time, arrive before 12 noon to eat an early lunch. Recommended items are lobster in garlic sauce and scallops. There has been construction work for years and it is expected that a bigger fish market will be available in the near future.

Enjoying Oysters and Lobster for Breakfast
💞Recommended Reason: The oysters are incredibly fresh and delicious
If you plan to visit on a weekday, I suggest not arriving too early. I visited in mid-June on a weekday, and even though it was almost 10:30 AM, only a few shops were open. For example, Nicholas Seafood doesn't open until nearly 12 PM. After enjoying the seafood, you can grab a coffee from a cafe inside the fish market and relax at the outdoor seating area. However, be cautious of the Australian white ibis, which often tries to steal people's food.
The fish market is currently undergoing expansion on the opposite side, so one side faces the construction site, making it less scenic.

Darling Harbor
#australiatrip Darling Harbor is such a beautiful port
The water quality is very blue and beautiful🤩
Taking a boat here makes the whole trip more relaxing😎
And it costs more than $8.75 to take the boat on the day
There is no need to spend other expenses
Very suitable for family travel together
Especially families with children
Take your kids on a boat ride to see the beautiful waters
I felt relaxed over the weekend
You can also let the child be quiet for dozens of minutes
Definitely a great choice😂
I also highly recommend asking friends to go on holiday together.
Take nice photos and chat
Look at the scenery👍👍👍

Savoring the Sea: Sydney Fish Market
#winhkflight
In the heart of Sydney, where the waters of Blackwattle Bay shimmer in the sunlight, lies a seafood lover's paradise – the Sydney Fish Market. As I stepped into this bustling marketplace, I was greeted by the briny scent of the ocean and the vibrant colors of freshly caught seafood laid out on ice.
The Sydney Fish Market is a feast for the senses, with rows of stalls offering a dizzying array of seafood delights from the waters of Australia and beyond. From plump oysters and succulent prawns to delicate fillets of fish and giant lobsters, there was something to tempt every palate and satisfy every craving.
I began my culinary adventure by sampling some of the market's freshest offerings. I savored the briny sweetness of freshly shucked oysters, slurped down creamy bowls of seafood chowder, and indulged in platters of sashimi so fresh it practically melted in my mouth.
But the real highlight of my visit to the Sydney Fish Market was the chance to taste the local specialties prepared by the market's talented chefs. I lined up at one of the market's famous seafood restaurants and eagerly awaited my turn to feast on grilled barramundi, crispy calamari, and succulent lobster tails – all cooked to perfection and served with a side of tangy seafood sauce.
As I dined al fresco on the market's waterfront promenade, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the setting sun painting the sky in shades of pink and orange. The sound of seagulls circling overhead mingled with the laughter and chatter of fellow diners, creating a sense of camaraderie and joy that added to the magic of the moment.
As the day drew to a close and the market began to wind down, I reluctantly bid farewell to the Sydney Fish Market, knowing that I had experienced something truly special. But as I walked away, I carried with me the memories of a culinary adventure that had delighted my senses and nourished my soul, leaving me with a newfound appreciation for the treasures of the sea.

Caught ferry from Circular Quay. Enjoyed the museum. It was great being able to board a submarine and the other vessels that are moored there.
A great place to spend a few hours, especially with kids. There are 4 different ships on the water that one can go on and explore, including a submarine - HMAS Onslow. In the actual museum, the exhibits are detailed

A Seafood Enthusiast's Haven: Sydney Fish Market
If you are a seafood aficionado, the Sydney Fish Market is an unmissable destination in Sydney. This bustling market is a treasure trove of fresh seafood, offering a variety of species that are rare in typical markets. During my visit last Sunday, I was not only mesmerized by the extensive selection of fresh seafood but also by the market's comfortable seating arrangements. There's ample space to relax and savor your meal, with the option of outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh air. The spacious area contributes to a less crowded atmosphere, enhancing the overall experience.
The market's highlight for me was the jumbo-sized sashimi abalone, remarkably priced at only $12.99. Additionally, the scallops, available at $29.99 per dozen, were notably larger than those found in general supermarkets, and much more affordable considering their size. Another standout was the salmon belly, offered at a mere $9.99 per kilogram, perfect for grilling.
For those who relish rare seafood, the king crab is a must-try. The market also serves a delectable, large-sized cooked lobster noodle dish, priced at $99.99. This adds to the allure of the market, making it a paradise for seafood lovers.
The Sydney Fish Market is easily accessible, conveniently located along the L1 tram route with a stop at Fish Market station.
