Luís I Bridge Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
Endless summer, Porto sunset train
Coming to Porto is like walking into an endless summer.
This European sunset city, every frame is like a movie.
Compared to Lisbon, I prefer the less popular here.
Porto is not big, a day tour is completely enough.
These few spots must be checked in❗️
1️⃣Sunset viewing platform
📍Miradouro da vitoria
You can take a panoramic view of the Luis I Bridge and the Douro River.
📍Miradouro da Serra do Pilar
The sunset train panorama is almost all shot here, and the nearby Hill garden can also see the sunset.
2️⃣Unique blue and white porcelain wall
📍Capela das Almas
📍Sao Bento Staion
The train station paved with blue and white porcelain.
📍Chapel of Souls
📍Igreja do Carmo
The blue and white porcelain exterior walls of these two are very exquisite.
3️⃣Casa Museu Fernando de Castro
A small museum recommended by locals, with many art collections.
4️⃣Lello Bookstore
It is said to be the place that inspired JK Rowling to write Harry Potter, and the stairs in the bookstore are very cinematic.
🥩Vaccarum
A steakhouse that I accidentally walked into next to the homestay I stayed in, it's delicious and large in portion, and the price is not expensive.
The landmark of Porto
Every visit to Porto will encounter the beautiful Luis I bridge. It is double decked so you can walk on top and at the bottom. Try both for different perspectives of the city!
The bridge is immediately recognisable as a sign of the city and is currently undergoing renovation work. On a sunny day, walk to Jardim do Morro for the sunset views, then cross back to walk alongside the harbor!
Porto stunning views 🌅
This is the most beautiful attraction in Porto. When you walk along the top of the bridge, the view of the city on the river and the trams that rush past is wonderful. It becomes really beautiful during the sunset time. What a gorgeous piece of architecture and infrastructure.

Double-deck Metal Arch Bridge
#celebratewithtrip
This iconic arching iron bridge straddles the Douro River, connecting Porto to Vila Nova de Gaia. The lower level is for cars ( under restoration), and Porto's Metro Line D on its upper level, pedestrians can walk along the bridge at both levels.
Take metro line D to Jardim do Morro station, then stroll along the upper deck of the bridge and you will rewarded with spectacular views of edifices built into the hillside cliffs that line the river.
Proceed to the lower level, either by cable car ( pay money ) or walk, the lower level currently under restoration, so nothing much to see.
Porto is known for having quite a few bridges, the Dom Luis I Bridge is especially renowned because it was designed by the students of Gustave Eiffel, the mastermind behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Plus at the time of its completion in 1886, this bridge was the longest arch in the world

The charming São Bento Train Station 🇵🇹
The S. Bento railway station, in the city centre of Porto (is a 20th-century railway terminal) is for sure one of the most beautiful train stations in the entire world 🌍. You can find it walls and ceilings covered with 22 thousand tiles (azulejos) by Jorge Colaço (painter, caricaturist and potter).
The circa 22 thousand tiles depict some of the most relevant episodes of Portuguese history, namely King D. João I and D. Filipa de Lencastre, Egas Moniz and Infante D. Henrique in the conquest of Ceuta.
Welcome to this Iconic, Charming and Heritage monument of Oporto City.

Beautiful Book Shop in Porto
#celebratewithtrip
Designed in Neo-Gothic and Art Nouveau style, the bookstore was officially inaugurated by the Lello brothers in 1906.It is located at Rua das Caremelitas 144, 4050-161 Porto and is open daily from 0930-1900. The nearest metro station is either Sao Bento or Aliados, both are around 7 to 8 minutes walk.
Walls with bookshelves from floor to ceiling, filled with books of all kinds. Upstairs, don forgot to look up to admire the stunning stained glass windows decorated with the monogram and the motto of the bookshop.
The highlight of the visit is the emblematic forked staircase with lacquered red steps. While it may seem made of wood, the staircase is actually built in plaster.

The Clérigos Tower is a landmark in Porto where you can get a panoramic view of the city. This Baroque-style tower, built in the 18th century, is one of Porto's landmarks.
The Ribeira district, Porto's old town, is located along the Douro River and is filled with narrow alleys and medieval buildings. Here you can enjoy the historic atmosphere of Porto.
In addition to these, Porto has various museums, art galleries, restaurants, etc., offering a chance to experience diverse cultures and cuisines. The city is great for walking around, and public transportation is also conveniently available.

Porto: the city of art
Porto Cathedral is a beautiful example of Romanesque architecture, featuring an impressive facade and detailed interior. It's a must-visit landmark in Porto that provides insight into Portugal's rich history.
The Cathedral's location on a hillside offers panoramic views of the city and the douro revier, adding to its appeal. Inside, visitors can admire stunning stained glass windows and altars that showcase the craftsmanship of the era. #porto #mytravelhacks #historicallandmarks
Porto cathedral 🇵🇹
#thingstodo
Porto cathedral is one of the iconic place located in photo centre area. This is a Roman Catholic Church and already existed in 13th century. Inside of the building is awesome with the beautiful golden materials and the shape is well-structured. Moreover, I also saw some gorgeous blue painting on the wall and it made the church become more unique and special. During the time I have been that place, the church is less people and quiet. I recommend going at around 4pm and it will be less crowded.

Cais da Ribeira Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jul)
Riverfront Promenade
#celebratewithtrip
The maze of narrow streets which cascades down from the hill from the cathedral terminate at the beautiful and iconic quayside, the Cais da Ribeira. The nearest metro station is Sao Bento, the walk from here is around 900 meters 12 minutes.
During the days, it's is an ideal spot to see neatly stacked pastel-colored houses facing the water. Many restaurants in the area have terraces from which you can enjoy the night time views of the river and the bridge along with traditional cuisine as well.
Survival of the timeless charms of this area is now protected since it's part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site from 1996. it is picturesque and charming during the day, and lively during the evening, Cais da Ribeira is probably the most visited area of Porto.
Riverfront promenade along Duoro River
#familytrips2024
The Cais da Ribeira is a riverfront promenade along the Duoro river. The Cais de Ribeira is famous for its colourful houses and lively streets filled with restaurants, bars, cafes and shops. Is a good place for you to shop for your souvenir. There will be some street performances along the street too. It is nice place to walk to enjoy the views. Besides that, it is also nice to enjoy your meal under the medieval arch. I would recommend you to explore this place during day and night, is totally different vibes. This is definitely the most popular attraction in Porto, Portugal.
This is my dream destinations for family trip because I wanted to walk along the riverfront promenade with my family, shop and enjoy the view together.

Every time I visited Porto, I avoided eating at Caia da Ribeira because it looks full of tourist traps. This time, however, I felt I hit the jackpot when I found this place located up on the wall towards the end of the Cais away from the bridge.
It’s not a fancy place but the food is absolutely fantastic. We had the bacalhau and seafood rice and they were both superb. It also helps that the dishes are reasonably priced and the service felt very personal.
I’ll definitely go back on my next trip to Porto!
