China is more beautiful than I remembered
#fallingseason
I left China in 2008 and didn’t return until this Sept. For 15 years I travelled all around Europe and Australasian, and didn’t set foot on the soil of China. Once I arrived back in China this Sept, I was taken away by the beauty of the traditional landscaped gardens in Suzhou and the night lights of Zhouzhuang….. Don’t skip a trip to China if you are planning a trip to Asia. You will taken away by its diversity in historical architecture and natural landscape, just like I was 😀

If you want an experience that includes Chinese history, culture, art, and food, this is the place! Zhouzhuang isn't far from the heart of Suzhou, and every part of this water township is delightful. The bridges, canals, and alleyways look like they fell out of paintings. The markets are extensive, with food and art and embroidery that dazzles the senses. On my trip to Suzhou, this was definitely my favorite place to visit, and I'm so glad that I went! #suzhou #zhouzhuang #watertown #solotravel #summervacation #historicculture

Zhouzhuang - The Ancient Beauty!
Zhouzhuang ancient town is huge! There are lots of things to see, do and enjoy. Expect to spend at least 2 days if you really want to get everything in. You can find souvenirs, artists and painters of all kind (I got my name written on a grain of a rice and placed in a necklace). It was pretty cool to me even though a bit pricey-ish; I paid 80+ yuan but hey, I wanted to be a tourist 😅. The boat rides are awesome too, very relaxing gives and you an eyeful of the place. I'd say visit if you're ever in Suzhou. #travelinspiration #suzhou #mytripvlog #awesomepic #tripblazers

Zhouzhuang is a feeling and a life.

Slowly Zhouzhuang, use a cloud a day.
It is not difficult to go to Zhouzhuang. It is said that starting from Changzhou, first take the train to Suzhou, and then buy the bus directly from Zhouzhuang to the bus station for nearly three hours. Of course, if it is self-driving, it is two hours. Take the bus.
For the city people, the weekend roaming the ancient town, is a good weekend to pass the law, sitting in the boat and boating mother shaking the boat, listening to her humming a small tone, the days slow down.
Water is the soul of Zhouzhuang. "There are many waterways and alleys, people are resting on the river." They sleep on the water every day, and a stream of water, the white walls and green tiles that are lining the ground show a vitality.

The Ancient Charm of Water Towns: The Tranquil Moments of Zhouzhuang Ancient Town
Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, one of China's most famous water towns, immerses visitors in a poetic ink painting with its serene waterways and rustic architecture. Every stone-paved road, every small bridge, and every water surface here carries a rich historical and cultural atmosphere. Entering Zhouzhuang, one feels a sense of seclusion and peace, as if time slows down in this place.
First, the water town scenery of Zhouzhuang is mesmerizing. In the early morning, mist lingers over the river, and small boats glide slowly through the winding streams. The gentle paddling of the oars creates ripples, a scene reminiscent of ancient poetry. The white walls and black tiles on both sides reflect in the water, with the quaint houses standing quietly, exuding the unique tranquility and poetry of the water town. Each stone arch bridge is a symbol of Zhouzhuang. Standing on the bridge, watching the river flow, one is captivated by the town's tranquility and beauty.
Besides the water town scenery, Zhouzhuang's ancient architecture is also distinctive. The well-preserved former residences of notable figures, such as Shen's House and Zhang's House, showcase the prosperity and elegance of wealthy families in Jiangnan. Walking through these ancient mansions, one can feel the breath of history, with every detail filled with rich cultural heritage.
Zhouzhuang is even more enchanting at night. When the lanterns are lit, the ancient town is bathed in a soft glow, with the lights reflecting on the water, making the whole town seem like a dream. The alleys at night are quiet and mysterious, occasionally enlivened by the calls of boatmen, adding a touch of vitality to the tranquility.

Lili Ancient Town, where you can find the gentleness of the Jiangnan water town in the morning light.
The best travel destination for this National Day holiday is probably the less popular Lili Ancient Town. On the one hand, although Lili is commercialized, it is far less noisy than famous ancient towns such as Nanxun and Zhouzhuang; on the other hand, there are many old streets, buildings and gardens in Lili (of course, the scale of the gardens is much smaller than other ancient towns). When visiting an ancient town, my favorite way is to visit in the early morning. The morning sun is gentle and gentle. At that time, most tourists are still asleep, and the locals have already got up, either washing clothes by the river, or walking the dog, or going to the jade market. Walking alone on the ancient town street without restaurant shouting and pop music, there is a feeling of traveling back to the past.

China's First Water Town - Zhouzhuang
Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, a World Cultural Heritage candidate site and one of the first national 5A-level tourist attractions, is surrounded by water on all sides. The town is formed by rivers, streets are built along the water, and markets are formed along the streets. The well-preserved river channels in the shape of a Chinese character '井' (well) feature 14 ancient stone bridges built during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. Over 800 original households live by the river, with more than 60% of the residences still maintaining the architectural style of the Ming and Qing periods.
Due to time constraints, only two scenic spots could be arranged for this trip to Suzhou. First, we visited the long-anticipated Humble Administrator's Garden, experiencing the history and culture of ancient gardens. Today, we arrived at Zhouzhuang to feel the unique architectural style of the ancient town and its distinctive water town culture. The clear rivers and swaying black-awning boats, along with the rich historical and cultural background, make it a place worth experiencing in your leisure time.

Stone pillars and bamboo railings in Zhouzhuang
Zhouzhuang Ancient Town, with a history of over 900 years, is one of the representatives of the water towns in the south of the Yangtze River. It has the poetic charm of small bridges, flowing water, and residential houses. The whole town is built along the river, with streets connected by bridges, as if stepping into an ink painting. The deep courtyards and high eaves seem to echo with the breath of history. Every corner, from the riverside corridors to the over-street buildings, is filled with stories. Walking north on the path with bamboo and stone railings, by the riverside pavilions, watching the slow flow of the river, it feels as if time is slowly passing here.
The stone pillars have two holes, through which bamboo rods are threaded to form railings. The bamboo is interwoven through the stone holes, and the stone pillars lean towards the river. Though not perfectly aligned, they are rustic and natural, remaining sturdy and reliable despite the passage of time. This is Zhouzhuang, a place that calms the mind.

Impressions | Zhouzhuang
| Zhouzhuang. The first time I visited the first water town in Jiangnan, 'Zhouzhuang', the Ming and Qing architecture with white walls and black tiles, the small bridges and flowing water, made me feel as if I was in a painting, deeply immersed in the tenderness of the water town, reluctant to leave. Even more so, it was also the first time I saw Zhouzhuang depicted by Wu Guanzhong, and I fell madly in love with it! Just a few strokes, and it captures the entire Jiangnan! I still remember that afternoon when I stumbled upon a library and spent several hours reading 'Dream of the Red Chamber'. Everything was so beautiful and dreamy! Looking forward to the next trip to Zhouzhuang

Zhouzhuang
Zhouzhuang.
One of the six ancient towns in Jiangnan.
The architecture in Jiangnan always has an ink-and-wash feel. Walking through it feels like being in a painting. However, compared to Xitang, Zhouzhuang makes you feel a little less excited and love at first sight.
Yes, Xitang is like a lover; you will fall in love in a second, become obsessed, and be reluctant to leave. But Zhouzhuang, like a delicate and pretty girl, is not bad at all. You will appreciate it and think it is very good, but you just can't fall in love with it.
Because it is not the peak season, there are not many people. A few tourists stroll leisurely in the ancient town, without the annoyance of crowds, making the heart calm instantly. The whole ancient town is free from the noisy clamor, with quiet tourists, quiet shops, quiet small rivers, and quiet boats.
On both sides of the ancient town are various shops, selling very ordinary things, not exquisite.
The architecture of the ancient town is really beautiful. The contrast of gray, white, and black, the integration of blue bricks and tiles, and the white walls as a backdrop, with the mottled traces left by the long history, make one wonder what the hustle and bustle or desolation of another time and space might have been like.
The roads in Zhouzhuang are paved with stone slabs.
Fourteen ancient bridges face each other and are connected.
Fu'an Bridge and Shuang Bridge are very famous.
Fu'an Bridge is the only remaining three-dimensional bridge-tower integrated building in the water town of Jiangnan. The bridge tower rises by the waves, facing each other from afar, with extraordinary momentum.
Most of the architectural styles in Zhouzhuang are from the Ming and Qing dynasties.
Black awnings swaying, riverside homes, soft Wu dialect, small bridges and flowing water. For a moment, the heart is rippling, wanting to stay and enjoy this moment of tranquility, without asking about the east or west, quietly being a pure person.
It is said that Liu Yuxi and Lu Guimeng once lived in Zhouzhuang.
I think for them, Zhouzhuang was also their paradise to escape from troubles.
