Zhongshan Park Jiachen Winter Orchid Festival (Beijing)
In the depths of winter, the Zhongshan Park Jiachen Winter Orchid Festival is being held in Beijing's Zhongshan Park.
The orchids on display in the park are traditional Chinese orchids, known for their elegant flowers, subtle colors, delicate fragrance, and graceful leaves. Orchids are a symbol of purity and elegance, and have long been used to represent gentlemen and scholars, reflecting their noble sentiments and refined tastes. Since 1959, Zhongshan Park has been a pioneer in large-scale orchid cultivation in northern China. Today, the park is home to over 300 varieties of orchids, with more than 2,400 pots in total.
The festival is divided into four cultural exhibition spaces: "The Origin of Orchids," "The Art of Orchids," "The Fragrance of Orchids," and "The Sentiment of Orchids." Through a combination of text, images, and physical displays, visitors can learn about the origin, evolution, and cultural history of orchids, as well as the "southern orchids, northern cultivation" technique, maintenance methods, and the stories of generations of orchid cultivators at Zhongshan Park who have dedicated themselves to the protection, inheritance, research, and promotion of orchids.
The festival also features text and images introducing the audience to the importance placed on orchid cultivation by previous generations of leaders, as well as the orchids gifted to Zhongshan Park by General Zhang Xueliang, adding to the richness of the festival's content. Orchid lovers, don't miss this rare opportunity to appreciate these beautiful flowers.
