Wawu Mountain Day Trip: Stunning Sea of Clouds and Lanxi Cliff Walkway 🌞 The weather was great today, so I booked a day trip on Trip.com for only CNY 68! 🚗 We met at Taipingyuan at 7:20 am and set off. We arrived at Wawu Mountain Visitor Center at around 10:40 am and started our adventure. 📌 Our route was as follows: ✨ Ticket Tips: We bought a round-trip ticket for 2 cable cars, which cost CNY 160 in total, including the Jinhua Bridge Cable Car and the Gufoping Cable Car. As soon as we entered the park, we took two cable cars directly to the highest point. From there, we hiked along the Wawu Xiantai Walkway. The walkway passes through a fir forest, and the scenery is beautiful, perfect for taking photos 📷. It took us more than an hour to reach Xiang'er Villa. 🏞️ After a short break at Xiang'er Villa, we continued on to the highlight of Wawu Mountain - the Lanxi Cliff Walkway. The scenery along this walkway is stunning, especially the Lanxi Waterfall, which is breathtaking! I highly recommend you come here 📸. Also, because the weather was so good today, we were lucky enough to see the spectacular sea of clouds 🌄! 📢 Ps: The walkway closes at 1 pm, so make sure you enter before 1 pm if you want to experience it! It took us about three hours to walk down the walkway. At around 3:30 pm, we arrived at the Gufosi Cable Car Mid-Station. I recommend you come down early because there is a queue for the cable car. If you come down too late, the cable car will close at 5 pm, and you'll have to walk down 🚶‍♀️. ❗️ Notes: 1️⃣ There are a few spots on the walkway where waterfall water falls, so I recommend you wear a raincoat or bring a raincoat or umbrella ☔️ to avoid getting wet. 2️⃣ It's best to wear waterproof hiking boots or sneakers, as the road is often wet and slippery, to avoid slipping. Boarding Point: Chengdu Taipingyuan Station, Exit A. The bus leaves at approximately 7:20 AM, but we arrived at 7:00 AM. When we arrived at the bus station, we showed them a photo of the bus and walked a short distance to the bus waiting for us. (Once you leave the bus station, the bus will stop to pick up passengers one after another until everyone is seated, then we'll begin our journey out of Chengdu city.) The ride is scenic, but the road has a lot of curves. Those who get motion sickness should bring medication. The bus continues through pine forests until it reaches the mountain. Drop-off point: Wawu Shan Scenic Areas 💰Ticket price: Approximately 430 baht per trip. It's more convenient to buy a round-trip ticket. ⏳Travel time: We left Chengdu at 7:20 AM and arrived on Wawu Mountain around noon. At first, I was worried about not making it in time, but with 5 hours, I was able to leisurely stroll around and take photos. The view was beautiful, making it worth the trip. Once you reach the top, there's a ticket booth. Buy a cable car ticket for the ride up and down. The ride is quite long and daunting, but the view is so beautiful you'll forget about your fear. Ride the cable car all the way to the top, crossing several mountains, and stopping at the last station to take photos before continuing down. If you have time, you can take the cable car down. There are many activities at the top, such as climbing the stairs to view the scenery, snowboarding, and shopping for snacks. There were many beautiful photo spots. We stopped at 2-3 stations to take photos before it was time to head back. 💰 Cable car price: I can't remember the exact price, but it was probably around 1,500 baht per person for a round trip, as the ride was quite long. This price includes admission to all stations. We bought it at the entrance to the mountain. Return: The driver will pick you up at the designated pick-up point. You'll find the parking lot right after you get off the cable car. Make sure to remember your car. The bus leaves at 5:00 PM, but arrive a little early because it leaves on time. With two energetic little ones—an 11-year-old sister and a 7-year-old brother—our family of four set off on the long-awaited trip to Wawu Mountain. After thorough preparation, we decided to truly experience the mountain’s spirit and beauty by hiking. On the first afternoon, we drove to the picturesque Yanu Lake. The water was jade-green, surrounded by lush mountains. The kids couldn’t wait to run to the lakeside as soon as we got out of the car, boating, taking photos, and having a blast. We stayed by the lake that first night, where food options were quite convenient and varied. Yanu Lake is about a half-hour drive from Wawu Mountain. You can also choose to stay at the foot of the mountain to catch the first group entering the mountain early the next day. The next morning, we arrived at the mountain base around 10 a.m. We took the cable car straight to the summit, reaching the top around 11 a.m. (didn’t check the exact time). We chose “Hiking Route Five” marked in the guidebook, which is said to showcase the most essential scenery of Wawu Mountain. We opted to hike down from the summit, worried the kids might struggle going up and get stuck halfway. After exiting the cable car station at the summit, we turned right↩️ to visit all the summit attractions. The paths up there were almost flat and effortless. We walked, took photos, and kept an eye out for wildlife. After about an hour, we reached Xiang’er Mountain Lodge. At the summit, we encountered several little squirrels. The kids, initially sluggish, perked up when they saw the squirrels and eagerly started the real hike, hoping to spot more animals along the Lanxi Cliff plank road. On one side was a steep rock face, on the other a deep valley with orchids, and the sound of the stream was constant. The sister acted like a little explorer, leading the way, while the brother held my hand tightly, both scared and curious. After about three hours (we were moving at a slow pace), the two little ones began to complain. “Mom, my legs can’t lift anymore,” “Dad, how much farther?” Just as they were about to give up, a few nimble squirrels suddenly darted out from the bushes, their fluffy tails standing up and their shiny black eyes curiously watching us. This reignited the kids’ enthusiasm, and all their fatigue seemed to vanish instantly. Wawushan offers free admission until the end of June, and they've newly opened a walkway that allows you to get up close to the world's highest waterfall, "Lanxi Waterfall." Only after visiting did I realize how ingeniously the walkway was built, winding from the bottom of the waterfall all the way to the very top. You'll inevitably get wet along the way, and it can be quite cold even in bright sunshine, so bring a raincoat. The Lanxi Waterfall walkway features three spectacular waterfalls. If you enter the Half Mountain Gallery from the Ancient Buddha Village cable car middle station, you'll first see "Yuanxi Waterfall," which is just as magnificent as "Lanxi Waterfall," though with a slightly smaller drop.
