Located on Doi Suthep, Wat Phra That is a famous Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai that was built in 1383. According to the legend, King Nu Naone of Lan Na placed a bone from the Buddha on a white elephant and released it into the jungle. The elephant is said to have climbed Doi Suthep, trumpeted 3 times, and then died, so the king ordered that a temple be built at the site. The 309 steps in front of the temple are guarded by two dragon sculptures, giving the temple its name. You can ascend the steps to the main hall, in whose center a golden stupa honoring the Shakyamuni Buddha is placed. After the tour, you can go to the observation deck behind the main hall to overlook the entire city of Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai Doi Suthep National Park, the magnificent Doi Suthep Temple
#1月好去地方2025
When visiting Suthep National Park near Chiang Mai, you will usually arrange a half-day trip to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. This pagoda enshrines the relics of Sakyamuni Buddha. You need to take a cable car up the mountain to see its magnificent appearance and the double dragon escalator next to the entrance stairs.
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is hidden deep in the mountains and overlooks the city. You can take the cable car up the mountain for 20 Thai baht and the ticket to enter the temple is 30 Thai baht. In addition to the glittering golden pagodas and decorations, you can also have a bird's eye view of the entire Chiang Mai city. The view is quite broad.
The original name of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep was "Wat Doi Suthep". The dragon on the Double Dragon escalator is actually a Thai snake god. It was named after the dragon in Chinese mythology because it looks like the dragon in Chinese mythology.
However, the most interesting thing is the magnificent and golden stupa of Sakyamuni Buddha. It is said that it is covered with more than 200 kilograms of gold foil, no wonder it is so shiny!

📍Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭
#summerdestinations
For Thai people, this place is sacred and highly revered in Chiang Mai, so it's always crowded. The reason for this is its great historical and religious significance, as the temple is one of the main and oldest in the entire country! (the temple was built in 1383)
Additionally, the temple complex offers picturesque views of the city 🤩
✨The temple is accessed by 306 steps. If you wish to cleanse your karma and let go of sins, you can walk up the stairs, leaving behind everything unnecessary with each step, a sort of purification.
🕕 Open every day from 6:00 to 20:00
💵 Entrance fee is 30 baht (~$1) for foreigners
‼️ PRO TIP: A taxi from the old city will cost around 350-400 baht, but for 80 baht you can take a songthaew (from the old city north gate).

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Rajavoravihara | Chiang Mai
In Chiang Mai, there are two ways to ascend and pay homage as follows:
You can walk up the Naga stairway, which has a total of 306 steps and takes about half an hour to climb. This Naga stairway is also a popular photo spot for tourists.
Alternatively, you can take the electric tram for those who prefer convenience. The fare is 20 baht per person for Thais and 50 baht for foreigners. The service operates from 06:00 to 18:00.
The pagoda of this temple is in the Chiang Saen style, with a high base and an octagonal bell shape, topped with two tiers of golden umbrellas. It was constructed in the Lanna art style, and the Buddha's relics are enshrined underground, following the ancient tradition of burying the Buddha's relics to serve as the city pillar of Chiang Mai. It is believed that those who come to worship and pray for blessings at the Doi Suthep Pagoda will find success and fulfillment of their desires, as well as safety and the ability to overcome various obstacles.

Impressive Wat Phra That Doi Suthep - Chiangmai
#fallingseason
Located in the western outskirt of Chiang Mai , Wat Phra That Suthep is the most important temple in the city. It is on top of the Doi Suthep mountain which only takes 30 minutes to reach by car from city center.
There is a row of food and gift stalls outside of the temple entrance. After entering the complex, visitors will quickly spot the 306 steps dragon staircase. It is not as intimidating as it sounds, and elevator is available for those who may not be able to walk the steps.
The temple interior is impressive with the 24m gold plated chedi in the center. On the exterior, there is a large observation deck which offers a spectacular view of the city below.
Wat doi Suthep is a must see for every visitor to Chiang Mai!

Amazing Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Welcome to "Wat Phra That Doi Suthep" Chiang Mai Buddhist Temple! It's on top of a high mountain and the structures are plated in gold.
When you are in Chiang Mai, you must go to Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Temple for sunset. From the city, it takes about 40 minutes to the mountain to the temple. You can take the red public taxi that drives all over Chiang Mai to get to the temple cheaply.
The temple costs 30 Baht per person and is very beautiful. The view in particular is a dream. In addition, there are many small stalls with food, towels, bags and souvenirs. Definitely worth a visit! Such an amazing attraction to enjoy.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Visited Theravada Buddhist Temple Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai province Thailand. Doi Suthep is actually the mountain where it is located. Arranged a private transport to bring you to the foot of the mountain where you can climb 309 steps to reach the pagodas or take a tram. Decided to take the steps for this trip. This temple is considered one of the most sacred pilgrimage spot in Thailand as there is a relic and the influence from Chiang Mai being the centre of the Alanna Kingdom back in the 14th century. This temple is definitely a must visit if you are in Chiang Mai.

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a sacred place of Chiang Mai. Every tourist who travels to this province must go up to worship the Phra Borommathat. If anyone doesn't go up to worship, it's like they haven't been to Chiang Mai. There is a traditional ceremony of pouring water on the Phra That on the full moon day of Visakha Bucha every year.

🙏 Let's worship and gain good fortune at Wat Phra That Doi Suthep 🌄🍀
⛩ The temple that Thai and foreign tourists like to visit when they come to Chiang Mai is "Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai Province". You can walk up the 306 steps or take the tram for 20 baht per person.
🛕 Highlight: Phra That Doi Suthep Pagoda. It is believed that if anyone comes to worship and ask for a blessing from Phra That Doi Suthep, they will have only success, their wishes will come true, and they will be able to overcome any problems and obstacles they encounter.
🙏 To pay homage to the pagoda, prepare flowers, incense, and candles, then walk around the right 3 times, while saying the prayers to the pagoda, and praying for your wishes to come true.
📸 The beautiful group photos were taken by a photographer (the photographer who took our family photos is the last photo in the post). If anyone is interested in capturing beautiful family photos, I recommend this person. Photos cost 100 baht. If you take a lot of photos, you can ask for the photo files from him.

Wat Phra That Doi sacred temple in Chiang Mai
I visited Chiang Mai in September and had to visit this holy temple! Its history dates back to the fourteenth century and features many gold Buddha's. It is also known for its famous 306 step staircase up to the summit, so bring your trainers!
At the top you will be rewarded with amazing views over the city of Chiang Mai. As with many Thai landmarks, be aware there is a separate ticket price for foreigners.

Enjoy Coffee Bar
Enjoy Coffee Bar, a small, cute coffee shop with cute prices. For anyone who goes up to pay homage to Phra That Doi Suthep and wants to stop by for a cup of coffee, I recommend this shop. Enjoy Coffee Bar. The shop is in the area in front of the stairs going up to the chedi. It's a small coffee bar with cute prices. It's probably popular with tourists who want to drink a cup of coffee to welcome the freshness at a cheap price even though it's in a tourist area. #cafe #cafe review #Chiang Mai #Chiang Mai coffee shop #Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

The Shuanglong Temple is magnificent, glittering, and made of real gold!
Temples can be found everywhere in Chiang Mai, but the most must-visit of them must be the Suthep Temple, also known as the Double Dragon Temple on Mount Suthep! Built in 1383, the temple was established at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level, overlooking the cityscape of Chiang Mai!
I took a double car at Chiang Mai University to the entrance of Double Dragon Temple, then walked more than 300 steps to the temple (you can pay to take a small car), the entrance has seen two giant dragons (actually the Indian snake god Naha). Entering the temple can enjoy the Buddhist face, carvings and architecture, and the most eye-catching is the golden relic stupa, golden light, golden wall brilliant, and next to the Buddha statue, umbrella cover is also gold, it is said that the construction of the double dragon temple used more than 242 kilograms of gold, I feel amazed, and feel the Thai people's worship of Buddhism! And since Su Tie Temple is located at the high point of Chiang Mai, you can see Chiang Mai from the most open angle, the view is very wide!
It is recommended that after visiting the Twin Dragon Temple, you can visit with the Pu Ping Royal Palace!

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
Visited Wat Phra That, a Buddhist Temple located in Doi Suthep, Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Make sure to bring water and stretch first because of the 300+ steps to reach the top of the temple. 😅 There is an option though to take the cable car so you don't have to use all your energy to climb upstairs. The entrance is 50 Baht for foreigners, of course I paid even if the guard thought I am Thai. 😉#thailand #temples #chianmai #asia

Wat Phra That Doi Suthep
#fallingforfall
The trip to Chiang Mai was the first overseas trip of many with my travel buddy. We went around end of the year which coincided the fall season in Chiang Mai Thailand. Thus, the weather was quite cooling as compared to what we imagined.
Wat Phra That Doi Suthep was one of the places we visited. Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is a Theravada Buddhist temple in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. What was memorable about this place was that you had to climb many steps to reach the temple on top. It was very worthwhile to spend the efforts as the temple was magnificent.

🌼 Wat Phra That Doi Suthep Ratchaworawihan is located at Doi Suthep, Suthep Subdistrict, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province.
🌸 It is a beautiful and important temple in Chiang Mai. There are 306 steps to climb up. It is easy. If you want to climb up, you should get fit, but it is not very high. However, you must bring water and smelling salts.
✨ The highlight of this temple is the Phra That, which is a Chiang Saen-style pagoda with a high base in the shape of an octagonal bell and covered with gold in the Lanna style. Inside, there are relics of the Lord Buddha. It is a highlight that you must take a picture of. Don't miss it. The day I went, the sky was clear and beautiful.

Doi Suthep at night, Chiang Mai Province
Doi Suthep, a place that many people who come to Chiang Mai must stop by here, but there are probably only a few who come at night.
And this is the first time we have visited Doi Suthep. We came at night and did not see any people. We saw the golden temples that were beautifully lit. There were lights shining on them, making the photos look quite beautiful. And when we went to the viewpoint, we saw the view of the city lights, which was very beautiful. I want everyone to try visiting Doi Suthep at night.
