History: Wat Tham Pha Nam Thip or Wat Pha Nam Thip Thepprasit Wanaram The reason for building the temple In the year 1950-1951, Phra Ajahn Sri Mahawiro went on a pilgrimage to practice meditation in this area. Later, in the year 1950-1957, Phra Ajahn brought monks who were his disciples to practice Dhamma. This area was originally a rainforest. The forest is beautiful in nature. There are many kinds of wild animals living there. It is called Pha Nam Yoi because it is a steep cliff with a waterfall dripping all year round. When villagers are sick, they will get water from this point to drink to cure their illnesses according to beliefs. Therefore, it is one of the reasons for the name. "Wat Phanamthip Thepprasit Wanaram"
The Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol enshrines the relics of the Lord Buddha in an inverted bell shape, a blend of Central and Northeastern art. Outside the Maha Chedi Chai Mongkol, there is a covered chapel, a bell tower, and 8 surrounding chedis. It is 101 meters wide, 101 meters long, and 101 meters high. It was built on an area of 101 rai, and the gold spire is 60 kilograms or approximately 4,750 baht (total height of 109 meters).
Inside, in addition to enshrining the relics on the top floor, there are also statues of 101 past monks and a Vipassana meditation museum of Luang Pu Sri.
There are 6 floors in total. When you reach the 5th floor, there is a spiral staircase with 119 steps leading up to the 6th floor, which is an octagonal bell-shaped hall containing the relics of the Lord Buddha.
