I really enjoyed the freedom of driving along the winding mountain range and taking a break at a place I liked. The scenery of golden grasslands and snow-capped mountains was like a painting no matter where I looked. The cost of renting a car was cheaper than I thought if I negotiated, and thanks to that, I was able to travel at my own pace without being restricted by time or route. I would definitely recommend this to those who want to enjoy the nature and ruins of the Incas by driving with a driver instead of a tour.

Driving through the Urubamba region feels like a breath-taking experience. The endless yellow meadows stretch out before you, with the snow-capped Andes mountains rising majestically in the background, creating a picturesque scene against the clear sky. As you follow the winding mountain roads, the harmonious landscape of mountains and meadows keeps changing, making it impossible to look away. The warm golden hue of the meadows reflecting the sunlight and the cold pure white of the snow-capped mountains create a color palette that cannot be fully captured in photos. I went to the salt flats in Maras on my own without joining a tour. To get there, take a van from Cusco to Urubamba and then walk about 3km to the salt flats. The salt flats are very large and the scenery is great. Going on your own will help you keep costs down, so if you have time, try going on your own.
