Japan Travel Guide—Osaka
Step into Osaka, located in the central-western part of Japan, in the heart of the Kinki region. Although it is the smallest prefecture in Japan by area, its population and population density are second only to the capital, Tokyo, making it the second largest in the nation. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, with the western part facing the bow-shaped Osaka Bay. Due to its proximity to Japan's ancient capitals, Kyoto and Nara, it rapidly developed and prospered as a crucial hub for water and land transportation and as a commercial city. In the city of Osaka, there is Osaka Castle, centered around a 5-story castle tower, with a lawn park of about 60,000 square meters. During the cherry blossom season in spring, the park is thronged with visitors admiring the blossoms, creating an endless stream of people. In Umeda, the northern gateway of Osaka, there are many large underground shopping streets, lined with eateries, boutiques selling trendy goods, and miscellaneous shops. The area centered around Umeda is known as 'Kita'; the area centered around Namba and Dotonbori is known as 'Minami'. Namba is a bustling district with a common touch, while Dotonbori is an area along the Dotonbori River lined with eateries. Minami is a famous entertainment district, home to many theaters and cinemas.
Best Season: March to August is the best time to travel to Osaka, with pleasant weather and a variety of gatherings and festivals taking place, making it the time when you can experience the most characteristic activities.

📢 The off-season airfare from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai to Osaka has dropped to around a thousand yuan, budget hotels are about three to four hundred yuan, the electronic visa application is simple and quick to process, and overall, Osaka feels cheaper than many places in China.

🍖 What to eat in Osaka?
Osaka has a plethora of delicious food, from high-end cuisine to local specialties
🍜 Ramen: Don't go to the long-queued Ichiran Ramen and Kinryu Ramen! They are expensive and average in taste. Ippudo and Jinza Ramen are much better
🍣 Sushi: There are many delicious sushi restaurants, and Daiki Sushi is fresh and affordable, with an average cost of less than a hundred yuan RMB to eat to your heart's content
🍙 Rice Balls: You must try the rice balls from various convenience stores, trust me! Convenience stores are my breakfast canteen in Japan
🛍️ Where to go shopping in Osaka?
🔸 Umeda: A huge maze-like shopping district formed by department stores such as Hanshin, Hankyu, Daimaru, and Yodobashi Camera
🔸 Shinsaibashi: Many drugstores and small shops with lots of tourists, and luxury stores next door have queues every day
🔸 Orange Street: A gathering place for Osaka's trendy brands, which generally don't open until 11 am, so going early is pointless

I heard that Kiji is the most popular Okonomiyaki restaurant in Osaka. There are two kiji restaurant at Umeda, Osaka one at the main city and the other one is at the Umeda sky building’s ground floor. The one at the main city is a bit difficult to find, honestly I havent found it yet that’s why I went to Umeda Sky Building. And yes! very delicious! especially their modan-yaki. The restaurant is averagely small, so expect to fall in line in couple of hours since there are many customers. But it is defenitely worth the wait!
Must come back!

The fantasy kingdom of Alice is located in the Umeda business district in northern Osaka. The location is particularly good. The biggest feature of their restaurant series is that each family is a fairy tale theme with different decoration styles.
The design of the restaurant is from the famous Japanese design studio Fantastic Design Works

My favorite hotel in Osaka! I don't want to check out.
My favorite hotel in Osaka! I don't want to check out.
My favorite part is the window in the room.
I stayed at this hotel three times with my friends in Osaka. It's a hotel for life.
-
✅The room is not very big, but it is very cozy. You can lay your suitcase flat. The blue and white plaid decoration has a British style and an ins feel. The facilities are complete and new. The bathroom is separated from wet and dry areas and has a small bathtub. It's more than enough for girls to take a bath. The bedding in the room is very comfortable.
✅The location is very good. It's a 10-minute walk to the subway station. Downstairs is the Umeda business district, connected to the mall by a sky bridge. The airport bus can also go directly to the hotel. It's very convenient for tourists and concertgoers. There is a drugstore and 7-11 downstairs, which is very convenient.
✅Self-check-in is also very convenient! There is free tea and coffee. You can store your luggage after check-out.

A local bar near Umeda Station.
It's not exclusively for solo drinking, but it's a great place for it.
I went there on the first day in Osaka, near my hotel.
It seems like a takoyaki place, but I didn't eat takoyaki, lol.
Since it's a completely local place, the menu is in Japanese.
The owner seems to love baseball, as they were watching baseball programs non-stop.
At first, there weren't many people, but by the time I left, the place was packed with locals.
It wasn't as expensive as I thought, but I forgot how much it cost, ㅜ
It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk from Umeda Station…?
Address
Osaka Prefecture, Osaka City, Kita-ku, Toganocho 10-6, Hirata Second Leisure Building 1F
I didn't know the address, so I showed the sign to a Japanese friend and asked them to find it for me…! It's a comfortable place to eat, but next time I want to try a different bar..!

[Osaka/Umeda] All-you-can-eat churrasco while enjoying the night view
🥩 Churrasco Table Umeda Branch
📍 Osaka Umeda (5 minutes walk from Higashi Umeda Station)
This time, I ordered
· Premium all-you-can-eat 18 types (3990 yen)
· Premium all-you-can-drink (1710 yen)
️📝
You can cut freshly grilled meat with plenty of gravy right in front of you🙏
There are 18 types of meat and vegetables, and they will bring you freshly grilled meat as many times as you like until they stop💗
The appetizer is salad and smoked duck.
It also comes with mashed potatoes, which are delicious either as is or with the meat✨️
There are more than 10 types of rare and popular meats!
The meat is very juicy, such as sirloin and aitchbone, so you'll definitely want to eat it again and again.
They also have garlic sauce and vinegar sauce, so you can change the flavor🙆♀️
The vegetables are onions, pumpkin, zucchini, and more, and the sweetness of the vegetables is packed into the dish✨️
My favorites for the mogu kayu are the grilled pineapple and grilled cheese.
The chorizo is also spicy and delicious!
They also have rice and curry rice, so I recommend eating them with meat💕
The aged curry made by a chef from the Rihga Royal Hotel is also great as a palate cleanser✨️
One dessert per person.
They bring it out at the last order, so you can choose what you like☺️
It's a great deal for the price, with a lot of volume and all-you-can-eat🙆♀️
It's a great place for a date with a view of the night view💗
✍️Other all-you-can-eat courses are available from 3,490 yen to 4,990 yen.
+500 yen on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and during the year-end party season.
(All-you-can-drink LO 90 minutes/food LO 80 minutes, one drink system)
I went on a weekday evening, but it was almost full.
There are seats by the window with a night view, so I recommend making a reservation☺️

Streets of Flavor: Exploring the Culinary Delights of Osaka 🌆🍣
Osaka, Japan's vibrant city of flavors and sights, offers a delightful journey through its bustling streets. 🌆 Stroll down Dotonbori, where neon lights reflect off the canal, and the aroma of sizzling street food fills the air. This culinary haven is home to some of Japan’s most beloved dishes. Sink your teeth into takoyaki—crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, with a tender piece of octopus at its heart. 🐙 Try okonomiyaki, a savory pancake topped with a medley of ingredients, from seafood to pork, drizzled with tangy sauce and mayonnaise. 🥢
Venture into the less-traveled alleys of Umeda, where hidden gems like cozy izakayas serve up grilled skewers and fresh sashimi, paired perfectly with a glass of sake. 🍶 Each street in Osaka tells a story—of tradition, innovation, and the city's unending love for food. Whether you’re savoring a hearty bowl of ramen 🍜 or indulging in sweet mochi, 🍡 every bite in Osaka is a celebration of taste and culture.

2 Recommended Osaka Gyukatsu Restaurants
#JapanTravel #UmedaRestaurant #MotomuraGyukatsu #JapanRestaurant #OsakaTravel #OsakaGyukatsu #OsakaRestaurant
I'll introduce you to 2 Osaka Gyukatsu restaurants that you must visit when traveling to Japan!
1. Motomura Gyukatsu (1-4)
Opening hours: 11:00 AM - 11:00 PM
Address: 3 Chome−1−3 LUCUA 10F, Kita Ward, Umeda, Japan 〒530-0001 Osaka
Price: 1930 yen for 1 line, 2600 yen for 1.5 lines, 3060 yen for 2 lines
Key Point: I like that you can control the grilling on your own grill.
It was very delicious because it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
It's located near Osaka Umeda Station, so it's really good. The only regret is that the waiting time is too long, so it would be better if it was about 30 minutes.
Rating: Google rating 4.7
2. Tomita Gyukatsu (5-7)
Opening hours: 11:00 AM - 8:45 PM
Address: 2F, 2 Chome−3−1, Naniwa Ward, Nanbanaka, Japan 〒556-0011 Osaka
Price: Gyukatsubori rice set is 1,500 yen
Key points:
Rating: Google rating 4.5
Whether it's Tomita Gyukatsu or Motomura Gyukatsu,
they're all similar to Korea and delicious.
In terms of waiting time, Motomura is much worse.
I think the location has something to do with it. Tomita is narrower inside and has a lot more Koreans.
I think Motomura has a lot of Japanese people, so the waiting time is long.
Personally, I recommend Motomura Kyukatsu more out of the two.⭐️

Must-visit local hotspot in Umeda: Emotional alleys💖
If you go to Umeda, you must visit this local hot place‼️
There are so many places to visit with a Japanese analog sensibility full of restaurants just one stop away🥹
📍Nakazakicho Cafe Street
🚇Take exit 4 of Nakazakicho Station!
✅ From cafes run by various Koreans to cafes without signs full of Japanese local sensibility, restaurants, and prop shops, it's a Japanese version of Yeonam-dong
✅ You can feel the atmosphere of a Japanese street while walking from Umeda Station💕
✅ Most of the stores close early, so I recommend visiting before 4 PM and exploring every nook and cranny😉
The small stores are densely packed together and each has its own unique exterior, which is the point of interest here✨
You can also see murals full of Japanese sensibility everywhere, so it's good to take pictures in front of them, so go around the alleys🕊️

“Cafe Break”, a local brunch cafe recommended by locals inside Umeda Station🥪
📍 Location: CAFE BREAK ホワイティ梅田店 (Japan, 〒530-0057 Osaka, Kita Ward, Sonezaki, 2 Chome, 梅田地下街5-2)
⏰ Operating hours:
Weekdays 6:30 ~ 22:00
Weekends 7:30 ~ 22:00
💴 Price range: 380 ~ 1,000 yen
- I'll recommend a local brunch cafe in Umeda Station that's great for breakfast!
- It's a brunch cafe that opens at 6:30 AM on weekdays! 🥪
- If you have to leave Umeda Station early, try this place! We also visited this place on impulse because the restaurant we were planning to go to was further than we thought!
- It was even better because it was a place visited by more locals than tourists! There were a lot of sandwiches for a quick breakfast, and there were a lot of drinks! ☕️
- We ordered cheese sandwiches and egg sandwiches, and the soft Japanese eggs went really well with the sandwiches! If you ever visit, I highly recommend the egg sandwiches!
- The drinks were also really cheap, and I ordered a matcha latte, which was sweet and delicious! Above all, since it is located inside a busy subway station, the staff is really fast! I think it would be good to stop by when you have an early breakfast and have a schedule!💞
- “cafe break”, a cafe good for breakfast inside Umeda Station. I recommend it as a place to visit when you want to feel the local vibe!

Japan Travels: Exploring Umeda City, Osaka
Umeda is one of the famous city that we have visited in Osaka during our Japan trip. The area is full of shopping malls, business buildings and entertainment areas, it’s a place not to be missed during an Osaka visit.
We landed in Umeda station, the station is huge and it has a spacious area in the entrance where many local stores are selling food, people can also rest on the bench and enjoy the city views. The place is quite nice to relax and quiet, good for chatting and there’s even cute figure statues on the pond during the moon festive season.
We went over to Umeda Sky Building, it’s free admission to go up to 39th/40th floor where we can look around the surrounding area of the city. Or you can pay 1500 yen to go to the observatory deck which is outdoor to see a more clearer view and enjoy a cooling breeze. The place has a souvenir shop to buy some adorable plushies, keychains or toy figurines.
Outside the building, there’s a “wall of hope” that is a wall made of trees that resembles hope.

Osaka.. best time for shopping is
The best time for shopping luxury bags in Osaka is the beginning of the month.
I had visited Osaka on 30th September. Right after checking-in the hotel in Namba area, I straight away went for shopping. My missions were Goyard bags, Pleat Pleats, and Issey Miyake bags. I got informed by all the shops that they ran out of products but somehow the new products will be restocked every beginning of the month which is tomorrow. Its so true because I got everything I wanted the day after but Pleat pleats and Issey Miyake need the online reservation. #osaka #namba #갠트리파크 #goyard #pleatpleat #isseymiyake
