I went for a day trip to Tokachigawa Onsen, where you can enjoy the moor hot spring, a rare spring quality even in Japan. The fugu chiri nabe and Obihiro beef fillet steak were especially amazing 🤤 The fugu was plump and flavorful, and the steak was not only tender and delicious, but the red wine-infused mustard sauce was absolutely divine!!! (Sorry for my lack of vocabulary) Fugu is such a luxurious fish that you rarely get to eat it unless you're at a hot spring inn, so I was thrilled!!! (I think it’s been 5–6 years since I last had it 😇) After dinner, we took a photo in front of a hollowed-out tree at the entrance of the dining area 🪵. It was so large that it looked like you could step inside! After dinner, I strolled around the inn, bought some chips to enjoy with beer in my room, and headed back 🍟.

It was already past dinner time when we arrived at Sasai Hotel that day, but the hotel was still considerate enough to grill fresh steak for us. I was really touched. They said the steak was Tokachi Wagyu, super tender and delicious. After dinner, we returned to the room. They had already made the bed for us. We changed into bathing clothes and prepared to go to the hot spring! The hot spring at Sasai Hotel is rich in organic matter and has excellent moisturizing and beautifying effects on the skin, and is known as the "Beauty Hot Spring". The hotel has a spacious public bathing area with indoor and outdoor hot spring pools and saunas, separate for men and women. The hot spring water flows from a source and is mild in quality, making it a very comfortable experience to soak in. The hotel's breakfast buffet is also very rich, with a wide variety of dishes, and most importantly, they are all delicious. Obihiro, Hokkaido Take the bus from Obihiro Station to Lake Shikaribetsu. There are few buses, so it's more convenient to take a car or taxi. The snow-white birch trees are the best. Obihiro is extremely cold in winter, so you need to dress warmly❄ The new greenery in May is also beautiful. I rented a bicycle at the Samui roadside station. There is a Tokachi Ranch nearby. I got a Spring Airlines ticket at a good price, flying directly from Shanghai to Sapporo. 😎 I had an ice cream and a soup curry at the airport, then took a super comfortable bus to my first stop, Tokachigawa Onsen. ♨ Tokachigawa Onsen Sanyoan is a great place to stay. It costs only CNY 1,200 for two adults and one child, including one night and two meals. You can enjoy a unique plant-based hot spring in Tokachigawa. The brown spring water is formed when the plant deposits from ancient times meet the hot spring. It contains natural moisturizing ingredients, which is different from the hot springs in Japan that are generally produced by volcanic geothermal heat. 🧐 Both dinner and breakfast are buffets. There are not many people, and I had venison for the first time. 🥩 The room is a standard 10-tatami Japanese-style room. After dinner, the staff will help you make the bed. After soaking in the hot spring, I had a good sleep. 😴 Obihiro is said to be Japan's granary, dessert kingdom, horse racing town, and the birthplace of Butadon (pork rice bowl)! My family and I walked in the snow, visited Obihiro Shrine ⛩ and Ryugetsu Main Store, and had a deluxe pork rice bowl and sweet milk. The small towns in northern Hokkaido are small. Walking on the snowy path with a full stomach, I didn't feel cold at all. 😊 I walked slowly to Obihiro Station, ready to watch a breathtaking winter sunset. Tokachi Ranch has a 1.3km birch tree-lined street that was used as a filming location for the TV drama, as well as a ranch observation deck that you can freely visit. The observation deck is on high ground within the ranch, and from there you can enjoy views of the southern foot of the Daisetsu mountain range and the Shikaribetsu mountains to the north, and the Hidaka mountain range and Tokachi Plain to the west. If you're lucky, you might even see the grazing horses. There is no shop or restrooms, so be sure to use them beforehand. This is an observation deck on a small hill in Otofuke Town, Tokachi, Hokkaido!! When you visit Tokachi in the summer, you can see huge rolls rolling around on the yellow fields here and there. These rolls are apparently called straw rolls. They're not grass rolls... When harvesting wheat, the ears to be harvested are separated from the remaining stalks, and the remaining stalks are collected and rolled up using a special machine. Because the wheat harvest itself is carried out over a short period in the summer, and because rain is the enemy, the finished straw rolls are often quickly transported away by truck, it seems like a rare opportunity to see the idyllic scenery of straw rolls rolling around in the fields. After doing some research, I found out that the ones wrapped in black or white plastic are "grass rolls" for cows' meals, and the ones without are "straw rolls" for cows' beds. I regularly visit Tokachigawa Onsen. It was a cold season, but after taking a bath in the hot spring, I felt warm, so I went out to the terrace in my yukata. There was no one there because it was so cold lol I had the place all to myself. There was a foot bath under the table on the terrace, and the water was quite hot, so my head was cold but my feet were warm, which felt great. The baths on the second floor have been under construction for a while, so there weren't many baths, though.
